    Within Brooklyn's ultra-orthodox Jewish community, a widower battles for custody of his son. A tender drama performed entirely in Yiddish, the film intimately explores the nature of faith and the price of parenthood.

    Saw the thumbnail, thought "Hebrew, no problem!", trailer starts, "oh I forgot about Yiddish..."

    I very much enjoyed seeing the full film in a preview. The Yiddish adds much to the tradition. I hope that Jewish organizations like Chabad, Orthodox Union and Aish HaTorah will advertise MENASHE on their web sites, and use the film in their outreach.

      I was just about to ask which Zusha song it was! Maybe it's on an upcoming album or an EP or something. They are my absolute favorite band! If I figure out which song I'll post it back here in the comments.

    Now this......this is an indie film. The cinema gods have blessed us once again with another great campfire story. And for the jewish community.......I love you all no matter your rules or how you are I love you all and every humans on this planet. Love you all.

    Ther is no such thing as "Utlra Orthodox"...
    This phrase was coined by Reform secular Jews (like I used to) to cause others to view observant Jews as eccentric or extremists.It is a derogative term and offensive.
    A Jew is either secular( decides which or what they feel like observing)...or "Frum" (observant of the laws from Shulchan Aruch code of laws which go back to time of Moshe).
    I see this phrase used by media and gentiles who do not know this.
    I am a Secular Jew who understands and supports their observance and effort to study etc.
    Assimilation is ruining our people...intermarriage not observing few if any mitzvos...blending gentile customs and holidays into Judaism is our biggest challenge today. Today we have messianic j4j Christians trying to convert our lost ones..Anti Semites who attack us and harass our kids.
    Boro Park and Williamsburg speak mostly yiddish and have a closed community for good reason. Sadly and most prevelant today its the Smart phone and internet now pollutes their young people.Hairedim in Israel have a similar out look on protecting Torah life.
    Crown heights Lubavitch are open and welcome Secular Jews and Noachides to learn and study as outreach of Chabad.I study at Chabad house. They focus on saving lost Jews..and teaching all about Torah.
    Very different in minhag customs between Satmar hungarians and Chabadniks...but they both are awesome . Shalom.

    so, Jewish widowers aren't allowed custody of their children if they chose not to re-marry? What nonsense?

    • @maxtander7848
      @maxtander7848 7 років тому +2

      Kncperseus in real life he would of course be allowed custody and he will have at least 10 siblings and and their spouses from each side to help him raise the child

    • @mabos5545
      @mabos5545 7 років тому +2

      It completely depends on your denomination and on the community you live in.

    • @bruh-lg6ch

      Kncperseus it's almost as if religion brings pointless rules into people's lives, who would know

    • @Bklyngurl85
      @Bklyngurl85 7 років тому +5

      Kncperseus no. It's just the Hasidic sect (from Russia/Poland) that sometimes does that. I grew up religious in a Yeshivish community (Lithuanian) that never happened by us.

    • @Milfuelle100
      @Milfuelle100 7 років тому +2

      Lmao no. I hope you aren't dumb enough to think ultra-Orthodox laws represent all or even most Jews.
