  • It's Afrobeats At 8 on Ebro in the Morning!
Davido came through Hot 97 to hang out with us, play some new music with us, and talk about his come-up, the debate on how his name is pronounced, how African-Americans can connect with Africa, and told us a crazy story on how his father disagreed with his path in music and threw him in jail...only to later accept his success and help him out in the end.

@@shifisam1491 yeah... that incidence just reminds every Nigerian born in the diaspora that: no matter how you try to assimilate, change your accent, following the pop culture, etc... you would still be a Nigerian at the end of the day, so you better be proud and unapologetic about it. because when you're winning, "You're american, european, etc" but the moment you make a mistake you are back to beign Nigerian.

I'm a born black African American married to a Nigerian (he's Igbo). My husband took me to visit Nigeria in 2019. It was an amazing experience! We stayed in Lagos Island and Enugu. I couldn't believe how diverse it was there. You see white people walking around Victoria Island, Lagos and in Enugu, but they are the minorities. The funny thing is, I recently received my DNA results and I found out that I'm 20% Nigerian (10.20% Yoruba and 9.80% Esan). I know it's a low percentage, but when the plane was landing upon arrival on the African continent, it felt like I was returning back home where my ancestors came from. It felt like a piece of me that was missing was finally complete.
    I 💕 Nigeria 🇳🇬

I Love how much Ebro give's so much Love to Africa and educate Black Americans. As a Liberian American I grow up in Ghana Liberia and America all Black people should read the struggles of Black American and African History. We need to be United. It empowers us to learn only own History and give us since of Self.
