After countless months and dozens and dozens of trips out, I’m ready to share with you all my thoughts on the Keb pack.
Top notch quality
Excellent burly materials which will last
Torso length can be adjusted
Fit & Wear Comfort : is absolutely excellent and in fact, this is without a doubt one of the most comfortable packs that I have ever used no matter how much weight I have put in it. Even with loadouts up to 35lbs the pack continued to be comfortable and manageable.
Excellent weight distribution.
It sits where it needs to sit on your body, is adjustable where it needs to be and has excellent padding on the shoulders and waist belt.
Dual access; size and top is excellent.
Excellent side pockets for bottles and additional gear; nicely designed so you can use them when you need them or get them out of the way when you don’t. Stretchy is a plus.
Excellent compression straps
Sleeping bag zipper at the bottom
Good amount of pockets for organizing and quick access items.
G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco S material, made from recycled polyester and organic cotton (can be made water-resistant with Greenland Wax for more extreme weather conditions).
Keb has a very slim profile and doesn’t fall far from your back. It’s a good shape that leads to stability when hiking even on slick or steep terrain.
The bottom and sides are made from the completely new waterproof Bergshell fabric, made from recycled nylon. Then there is the external frame of (FSC certified) birch. According to Fjällräven, CO2 emissions during the production of the backpack are reduced by 90%.
Cons :
Back of pack offer padding but isn’t the most breathable of packs. Not the best, not the worst as far as ventilation goes. With that being said, you will sweat with enough effort with any pack on.
Hop pockets are not very good in my opinion. Big enough to hold small items but unfortunately can’t be opened one handed. To open and close, it takes two hands; one to hold the pocket and one to pull the zipper
As you fill the main compartment the front pocket becomes tighter and tighter;
This is a slender pack which can make accessing your gear from the top…luckily you have the side access!
Summary :
comfort, durability and robustness
Truly one of the best packs that I have used in years and is worth every penny in my opinion. I purchased this with my own money, I don’t care if you buy one as that isn’t of any significance to me.
Consider : 52L may not be enough space for everyone; consider what you carry and whether or not you need a larger pack. If you are in doubt, there is the 72L version to consider.

I have the 72 liter version of this pack. I love it! Perfect for Summer, Winter, Bushcraft or ski touring. One feature I was hoping you would mention is the tiny loops behind each pocket on the waistbelt. They are specifically there for winter camping so you can snowshoe or ski tour and drag a sled behind you by clipping a caribiner from the sled on each side that way you do not have to wear an extra belt. They have literally thought of every need when designing these packs. Totally worth carrying an extra couple pounds for that in my opinion. Thanks for the excellent review of an amazing pack!
What were some of your thoughts behind going with a Keb72 instead of the Kajka75? I have the 52 which I really like, and I'm considering replacing my Baltoro75 with either a Kajka75, or Keb72. The full front access of the Kajka is probably the most appealing aspect. 52 can get by with the side entrance, but 75 is significantly more gear, and being able to get to all of it via the front seems hard to pass up. Its a feature I love about the Baltoro (and Zulu40 too).
@@GetUpTheMountains well, at the time I lived in MN and was an avid xcountry skier. The Keb 72 has special plastic D rings on the belt to clip on your sled when you are on an overnight adventure. I also liked the Keb 72 streamlined looks

I have just got mine this morning via Amazon UK. 6 days from a German supplier and delivered to myself in Durban South Africa! Awesome service!
The backpack can be used as a daypack without it looking like you running away from home! The side straps can be pulled in to keep the pack slim.
Three ways to access your gear makes it very flexible to use.
For day hikes, I roll up bubble wrap and put it halfway on the inside to create a divider and help keep the shape of the pack.
On the bottom side, I keep a gas stove and other food related items.
On the top side, I keep a rain jacket.
Very well built backpack that is flexible in its design!
Take the time to adjust the back system correctly. I like the bottom of the pack just off the top of your bum.
Highly recommended!

I got this pack about a year ago, used it a lot regularly carrying over 35lbs in technical harsh terrain and it still looks brand new. The comfort is unreal, no matter how much weight you need to carry you’ll find yourself forgetting that you have something on your back.
I just was looking for my first backpack, i watched ton of reviews from around 70l size. I went to buy Osprey aether 70, or Kajka 75, didnt really even considered others. I saw keb there and tested it with others several times, it just felt amazing. Couldnt really find reviews from 72l keb i was bit suprised. Now i can say i did bought narrow backpack which hugs my back and is comfy. I recommend it!

Thanks for the review. It's interesting to see how your opinion about the belt pockets changed from top to flop after using the backpack, after saying Fjallräven was the first company to make belt pockets that are actually usable in your first video.
I just bought the Singi 48, I have the Singi Stubben as well but i wanted a pack a little bigger for an over nighter in the fall or summer so I thought the 48L would be fine, and i liked that the side pockets which are separate i can interchange with the Stubben pack. thx for sharing Luke

We have had 118 inches of snow so far this winter 28 inches in one day lol your waiting for it to start and I'm waiting for it to be done lol great review they do make top notch products thanks luke
I finally bit the bullet because of this review, it is extremely comfortable, true to the review that the backpack goes wherever your body goes, doesn't swing around when moving, draw side is the sweating where the back cushioning area that makes contact with your back really do sweat but it all comes down to your layering. A 10kg sack for training swallowed and carried it without sweat. Thanks for the review

Bought this last year after seeing it on your channel.
Pack is bulletproof, but it would have been nice to have a daisy chain or more options to attach items to the outside.
Great pack, heavy but comfortable and beefy.
Edit - I keep my tent at the bottom since it’s really the first thing I take out, the bottom zipper definitely comes in handy when setting up

Looks like a nice pack and the birch frame is awesome. I would consider it if I am looking to get a middle sized backpack. Right now I am using a 32L daily and have a 60-100L for camping. I like having all my gear inside the pack so I don't lose things or snag up when pushing through thick forest. I have three pairs of Fjallraven pants as well as the Keb jacket and they are awesome. I was slightly disappointed with the jacket but it looks great and I use it as more of a nice coat to wear out instead of in the woods.The trick for the pants is when you first get them,do not wash them for as long as possible to keep the original wax treatment. Once you wash them, the fabric is much more breathable and loses its stiffness. I have one pair with no wax for summer and they are surprisingly cool. A pair with just the knees and ass waxed and a pair fully waxed several times for wet and winter. A similar clothing product with a lower price tag is the Russian Gorka suit. I haven't tried waxing my Gorka suit and not sure if I will even though it doesn't shed water quite as well as the waxed G1000 fabric. The Gorka has some weird stitch pattern like croche and sort of fluffs up when wet and seems more water resistant afterwards.
The Keb Jacket has soft shell on the back of the jacket meant for wearing a backpack.
It is good and nice but nothing beats the Kajka`s. I like the truly full adjustability of the Kajka which is also the reason i own both a 65 liter and a 85 liter version. As far as i see it the Keb 52 is the LW alternative to the Kajka 65. Kajka is by far the best back pack Fjällräven offers in their line up

I recently scored my holy grail pack on ebay. A discontinued Kifaru Zulu G2 in multicam, all the way from Finland. Absolutely pristine condition. It was costly but worth it. I look at many of these other packs and see things I've got in the Zulu that are the same or better. I have very few big packs. Most would be considered daypacks or overnight packs. I like to keep things minimalist.

Looks great, but...the sleeping bag compartment worries me. Its on the base underneath, ykk zipper sure. But my querie is how will that hold up if you carry weighty gear all the time? 15 to 18kg sitting on just a zip

Ive been drinking alot of water, washing my hands after everything i do and taking vitamins so im trying my best to stay super healthy.

@@TheOutdoorGearReview its the moonshine and pepperoni rolls hahah. We may not have covid19 yet but we're still suffering from the panic. Most stores are empty or low on supplies. Theres a rumor floating around that we have alrwady had the covid19 bevause we had a really bad flu strain awhile back and the doctors here are saying that the symptoms from the flue strain we had match syptoms of covid19, idk if its true because Facebook is always full of misinformation.
Hahaha A few years ago, a young kid tried to sell me some moonshine from the trunk of his car in a grocery store parking lot. He was covered in dirt and there wasn't an inch of his vehicle that wasn't smashed. Needless to say, I declined his offer. haha
As for Facebook, one of the best things that I have ever done was to terminate my account. :D

there is allso a 57 and 65 version, seems to be a sweet spot if you want the mesh-side pockets to air out wet gear.

That’s a badass pack. I could never justify carrying a 5-pound pack unless it was a short/flat trip, or unless I was hauling meat. Still a cool pack, though.
At first, I thought I could see the stitching coming apart at the bottom of the seam on the external 'n' pocket. But I believe it's a drainage hole? Maybe someone can confirm this. Anyhoo, I ordered mine today - it's arriving tomorrow and your video helped me immensely in choosing the pack and the colour. I have liked, subscribed, hit the bell icon and done your dishes to show my appreciation. Cheers.
Yes, that is an intentional drainage hole.
Very comfortable. Sits well on the back. I got the 52L. Packed it to about 11lb.
I dont have Keb 52L backpack, but I have two other backpacks from Fjallraven . One is Abisko 75L and one Bergtagen 38L. I see that Keb 52L has some similar ideas, that were used also in Bergtagen backpack. Things that I dont like about Bergshell fabric comparing to fabric used in Abisko is that Bergshell absorbs a lot of water very fast, gets heavier and dont dry so quickly. Also Bergshell fabric gets dirty very easily.
Abisko 75L weights 2250g, Keb 52L weights 2260g, so Keb is too heavy for its volume. Also 52L is too much for one-day trip and not enough for overnight hike (at least for me).
Mark M. Fjallraven claimed Bergshell is waterproof. Is it really contradicted per you said?
@@syahrulsamsuddin3730 I have tested it two times under light-moderate rain and my equipment inside bag made from Bergshell was dry, but all exterior bag material was wet. It seems that Bergshell absorbs water, but doesnt let water in inside bag. After your comment I made some quick test. Weighted my bag using scales, put it under shower in my bathroom for about minute and weighted it again. Weight difference was about 100 gramms, so that means that Bergshell bag absorbed about 100 gramms of water.
mhmhm... yeah.. looks like a great pack, but I think for tropics, exped Lightning would be more suitable.
Hey Luke it's been a while....I love this pack; could be better than the Kakja IMHO! Only cottage companies make "useable" hip belt pockets (zpacks, hmg, ula, etc); I wish the big companies would get better with this! :(

Looks like a great pack, great review too. But a lot of these modern day packs are just too heavy. I reckon this is twice as heavy as it needs to be for the volume its made to carry. Like so many other packs.

The inner pocket inside the zippered compartment on the back of the pack is for a collapsable snow shovel I believe, which would make this pack suitable for hut-to-hut ski touring. One question though, how would one attach a Thermarest Z-lite to the back of the pack?
1:44 "...you see how narrow this (pack) is." But isn't it a bit too narrow as, narrow as it is, it is more prone to swaying left to right while walking.
[I had a narrow Bach pack that was also quite narrow, too narrow for comfort.]
I also have a number of Fjallraven products, and appreciate their design philosophy, compared to what is presently popular. 'Burly' and 'Feature-Rich' appear to be their mantra, while thumbing their noses at the Ultra-Light obsession that has dominated the American market in recent years. Tough as crap, and with a pocket for everything feels better to me than 'look how many Oz. I shaved off my base weight' :)

hi Luke... still trying to decide between the 52/72. I still use the Baltoro for my big load-outs and just got the Paragon 48 to test and review. :) A lot of my friends in Sweden recommend and have the 52. :) I am just wondering if I could be my Hilleberg Staika. :(
Good preview!. Those pants are good, i have few like those.. but colder weathers and hunting, i have Sasta metso pro 2, pants! They are expensive, but really perfect pants! Goretex.. i have use those about 4 years and they are still like new! Check out!👍👍👍👍(and jacket too)
I own this EXACT pack. My only complaint is that it does not have a exterior strap for a tent. This is the most comfortable pack that I've ever tested...But why no tent strap??

Yo brotha Luke, sugggestion...I would like for you to actually show what you would take on an overnight trip and lay it out-then pack it up in your backpack-then unpack it again and lay it out so we can get an idea of how much stuff you can pout in the backpack.

Hi Luke. I would like to say with my experience so far my best backpack it's the Osprey. I had couple of big and smaller ones (80L, 100L etc.) Love the design, not so love prices lol. But just don't know why Fjallraven it' so expensive, actually everything, plus -just for me- absolutelly ugly design. Big prices for ugly things. But as someone said- ''tastes are not discussed''. Part of the high price is name/logo. But if you use it for a long time, maybe worth it. I don't think this is made in Sweden, probably in some part of Asia.

I dig it. I would go for the 72L, but I just bought the Aether 70 AG from Osprey for winter camping. Very nice looking pack though. I still think if I was going Fjallraven I would go for the Kajka 75. Just looks bomb proof.
