They have a EHTaylor barrel proof rye coming out this summer… get ready for a $5,000 secondary bottle
Any followup on this? Is this still a thing that is supposed to happen?
I have always loved EHT Rye and I am going to do everything in my power to find the barrel proof this year.
Needed this video today.. Dans bottle flip brought a much needed smile to my face. Thank you, needed that in the worst way
I looked this video up yesterday and was very surprised you hadn’t reviewed it. Really awesome that it came out today.
We would have bet money we already did it
I saw it once for around 100 in a store but had already grabbed something else. Last time I saw it, some random store wanted 299 for it. Yet another example of the Sazerac Tax in effect.
Local group blinded this against the Nashville Barrel Co small batch #2 rye, and everyone but 1 person picked the NBC. Ended the hunt for a bottle for me.
I accidentally bottle flipped a bottle off my shelf yesterday. It landed on the lid and the plastic topper shattered, spilling the whiskey all over. Fortunately, it was just Crown Peach. I could have saved it, but drain poured it instead. I'd only drink that in the summer mixed with some semi-sweet tea on a hot day when I can start drinking in the afternoon. Which, is not really all that common.
It’s wild as the prices of all the Taylor’s here in Canada are in the $90-110 range. All the Taylor releases have always been my favourite, it’s too bad they are so hard to find now.
Enjoyed this one guys. Love my bottle of straight rye
Have you guys tried the Barrell Seagrass? I heard a lot of good things about it and pulled the trigger a couple weeks back. So different, but super delicious.
We put this rye in a blind and it got stomped by a Frey Ranch Rye (store pick). Great video as usual. Thx. Cheers!
As someone born and raised in Nevada I've got to pick up some Frey Ranch bottles as soon as I make some room on the shelf. I'm almost done with my smoke wagon bottle but I'm definitely getting another of those.
Friggen Nailed that Buffalo Trace Distillery guess!
Just opened my Old Forester BP Rye...omg, blows EHTRye out of the water. Can't wait for the ehtbprye this summer.
Never seen this in Colorado have got a bottle of Sazarac Rye which I like 😄👍🏻🥃
“We just saying random Sazerac products now?” 😂😂 EHT rye at 60 would definitely be an all-day buy. Great video guys!
I passed this up twice last year at $70. A month apart, too. Not next time. Great review!
I always pass this one up. I love EH Taylor, but the few times I had a chance to get this I always pass... Might have to change my stance now.
This was shot awhile ago. Looks like Dan's tattoo is fresh, and Sean has yet to get his tat. Glad the bottle didn't break.
I really like EHT Rye, but in DFW area it is super hard to find. I haven't seen any bottles in a raffle, nor on the shelf. Only stores that sell it for 200+ dollars have in in their glass cabinets
Won one last year from goody goody
Yea this is just as hard as any other Taylor to find on the shelf I think
After delivering the "so does Crown Peach" Dan should have looked at the camera like Jim Halpert
Loved this shoutout lol
The just announced the next EHT limited will be a barrel proof rye
Well we did not know that, awesome though. Just another bottle I'll not see on a shelf
I just lucked into a bottle of this at my local liquor store yesterday. I'm not a huge rye guy, but this was a very smooth sip.
I've seen a couple pictures now of people being lucky enough to grab this. We haven't seen a bottle in years, but always great when we can snag a pour. Hope you enjoy it!
@@BourbonJunkiesIs Sagamore Double Oak or even Cask strength better that EH Taylor rye?
I saw somewhere recently that they are releasing a EH Taylor Barrel Proof Rye in 2022, so there's your limited EHT Rye.
Funny enough I see regular Sazerac Rye all the time on the shelf in Florida for $23 but only at Sam's club
Nice review. I've had an open bottle of this for several years. That's how meh it is to me.
291 rye is pretty good. little too sweet, but a nice rye.
EHT Barrel proof rye is on the docket this year boys!
oooofffff course
Just killed a bottle of this. Haven't opened up my back up bottle yet. Probably wait a little bit. Too many open bottles already. EH Taylor Rye BP coming this soon.
We need a NEBC rye and a pingree pick/ TR review
Tried wt101 rye a few days ago. Pretty good. My first rye. Next is OF and so on.
Good choice!
Sagamore should also be on your short list
@@phlips11 added! Thanks for the recommendation 😀
Rumor has always been this is a different rye mashbill than the standard buffalo trace rye. I've heard it's 70/30 rye/malted barley. Which is also supposedly the Barton rye mashbill. That Barton rye is what was in the old Rendezvous Rye and Kentucky Owl. Early bottles used to also list the DSP for Barton and BT on the back, probably because it was distilled at one and aged or bottled at the other
Interesting. You know the breakdown of the whole BT rye lineup? I.e. which of THH, Van Winkle, Saz 18, baby saz, and EHT have which/different mashes?
@@troupebrewer4281 AFAIK everything else is the standard Sazerac rye mashbill. Barton only has one rye on the market, Fleischmann's. They at some point had a bunch of aged stocks they sold off.
It’s definitely distilled at Barton. Or at least as of the 2019 bottle I have. The two DSP’s listed on the back are Buffalo Trace and Barton. Barton being the one that distilled it, bottled at Buffalo Trace. No offense to the guys, but it tastes like a completely different rye than baby saz. When you realize it’s Barton, it all starts to make sense. But it does still have an EHT nod to it, so good job BT for blending barrels to fit the profile.
they're doing a barrel proof rye this year. releases in may
I'll add it to the bottles I won't see this year then 😂
Dan showing us those graceful moves.
You should pour, then bottle flip.
Gloriously, wonderfully, hilariously somewhat schnizzled while doing this excellent video!
350.00 here in Maryland, 150 for small batch
It’s definitely a solid rye. If I found a bottle for 80 I’d probably buy it’s once. Problem for me ( not really a problem haha) is there are so many hitter ryes coming out from smaller distillery’s in the $55/$65 dollar range that I either have or would have back ups for. Like Starlight, Sagamore, Driftless Glen. Either way great video. Cheers Boys
How about that Sagamore double oaked?!?!
Is Sagamore Double Oak or even Cask strength better that EH Taylor rye?
You guys should do a blind with all the non BTAC BT ryes . This, the kosher ones.
I think Handy just wins thinking about that line up.
Can anyone confirm or deny that EHT rye has a higher %rye in the mashbill (like 60-70ish) vs the likely barely legal 51%ish in saz/THH/saz18?? I’ve always heard this but wondered if it was true.
It's all undisclosed so idk
I honestly feel like it seems like a higher % of rye. Def higher than regular Saz. But no I cannot confirm.
I love when something makes perfect sense in Dans head (like the whole “stock” diatribe) but makes no sense to the rest of us
I got this as a gift for my BDay and the person paid $300 for it. In Australia the sky's the limit....
Yeash, well I hope you at least enjoy it!
Thats the same price as sagamore 8 yr at 57.45%. Idk if thats just an example of how great sagamore is, how crazy bt stuff is getting or both.
100% Sagamore is killing it right now
Turn on the closed captioning and it says "We're the perfect junkies" 😆😆
Did I miss a grade on this bottle?
I might sound like a heathen but blind I prefer Pikesville over EHT Rye all the time. Maybe it needs to open up even more. Awesome review nevertheless #TeamDan
Nothing wrong with that, little more proof and not as sweet.
Centrifugal force would have kept it in the bottle, lol. I got to try this recently and wasn't impressed. A lot better ryes out there for less money than the MSRP for this ($65), let alone the price this goes for on the black market.
Dan's flipped an open bottle before, can confirm the whiskey does not stay in there
@@BourbonJunkies He just needs to put a little more speed on it!
Gentlemen, Is there an online liquor store in Michigan you can point us to. I'm from GA and we can't find anything at the prices you guys talk about.
Michigan isn't allowed to ship out of state. Sadly anything with an EH Taylor label on it at this point is gold.
A single barrel baby Saz is a beautiful thing
Sag CS or Sag DO? Can't decide
Double oak for sweet. CS if you want classic rye flavor. I vote double oak.
Have y’all had the Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye?
Don't believe we have
@@BourbonJunkies seems like I need to get you a bottle. Sams has it here for $59.98, It hard truth’s first in house bourbon. Pretty Tasty
Those bottle flips always get me freakin….. especially cause i’ve seen him drop bottles MULTIPLE times.
Rubber mats down on the floors give a good sense of false confidence
Dan drops ONE bottle and Sean gets on his case…. *Dont look back at any of their other videos. Especially the Blantons….*
Best reviewers in bourbon
Why thank you
Jesus Christ Danno.....easy man. That bottle hit the floor and my chest got tight....and I pooped a little.
$300 for rye $400 for single barrel at the liquor store near me…
The look of murder in Sean's eyes.
To think these are going for up to 210-215 on secondary 😳
sagamore double oak guys!! way better rye!
What about kosher straight rye
It's okay, we liked the rye recipie one the most
@@BourbonJunkies was thinking in comparison to the eht but prob not even close
I've watched this intro a dozen times and I still can't figure out what the hell Dan thought he was doing hahaha
Dropping a bottle
I see it going for around $280
I think the bottle flip/glass flip has jumped the shark.
I know that has something to do with happy days or whatever. Fonzie jumping a shark, but I literally don't know how it's used as an analogy.
Let me know if y’all need some baby saz. Usually at most stores around me.
We see it a lot when we travel, just never around Michigan
So you gave the same ranking on this as you did Blue Run Golden Rye at a lower proof and higher Price???????????????? That makes no F&^%&^% since. I know I got my EHT Straight Rye in Georgia for 65 bucks and I enjoy it a lot. Not as good as the Sagamore Double Oaked Rye in that 60 range imo. Both still so much better than the Blue Run Golden Rye at 100+.
I paid the same for this and the Blue Run golden rye actually... $90.
@@BourbonJunkies Prices in Different states are crazy. The Blue Run Golden Rye in most places in Georgia is 119.99 while I can get a EHT Straight Rye for 65 to 70. Maybe I just got extremely lucky on the EHT.
Dude if I got eht rye for 60 it'd be an a+ lol
@@BourbonJunkies That is the boat I am in. I still like the Sagamore Double Oaked Rye better but its not that much better. Both are great.
Proofs in the Pouuuuur Gueeesses.....goin to drop yal a blind or flight to enjoy tommor enjoy ishheads
I hope you guys got royalties from Beam after they stole “proof is in the pour” for their shirts in the gift shop. Great review.
Don't think we have a trademark
So you mean its not worth 250 like the guy down the street wants?
It is not
Fresh tans for the boys and no ink for Sean. Must be an old vid
It was batched, had some issues getting around to shoot last week
Angels envy rye 😍
See that's just a little too sweet for us.
It's good once in a while but it's definitely too sweet. Like drinking high proof maple syrup.
@@BourbonJunkies it doesnt say straight on it so angels can use 2.5% additives without saying anything. My guess is they just dump some sugar or maple syrup or something in there. Very artifically sweet to me.
It is sweet and it's not an all the time drinker for me, but I love the notes added by the rum/cognac barrels. Definitely the sweetest whiskey I can still enjoy but I don't see any chance that it has additives.
@@austinlightner3973 ive had plenty of rum finished ryes and angels rye is significantly sweeter than every other one ive had. It wouldnt surprise me if they used additives. Templeton does it with their ryes as well. Of course i could be completely wrong, this is all a guess on my part. It just wouldnt surprise me at all.
A rather misleading title in my opinion. Not exactly breaking the seal when you review a bottle that is half empty. Should have gone with "breaking the cork" instead...
That's a rather silly thing to complain about lol. That being said I laughed about the broken cork comment.
Your attempt to make less.people less interested in EHTR is futile 🤣
