I would love to watch a series on practicing all the way up to tournament day! Big fan and I love all your videos! P.S. I'm definitely going to try the dancing technique lol seems like that would work. I like to think it's all about staying loose and confidant out there.

Damn what a great thought process. I've got the mental fortitude of a gravely abused gerbil so I wish I could incorporate more of this. I haven't even finished a round in weeks because I keep getting too furious and leaving.

For me having just started playing not quite a year yet, If i miss something that I know i cant "expect myself" to make, i shrug it off and say "well I guess that's why im not a pro". Go watch Eagle on round 2 of Waco. It can happen to the BEST. Only thing else i can think of is, i got into this sport to Have Fun, and we sometimes have to remember(even in tournaments) is to have some fun while we can. Thanks for the video.

Concur. I’m 1mth into DG and can’t thank my coworker enough for turning me onto this game. I expect EVERY round to be Fun and fulfilling so the only bad days I have are the ones I can’t play. Lucky for me there’s a course almost in my backyard to play after watching Robbie’s YT vids for beginners. He puts the info I need in a way I can understand.

Had a round exactly like this yesterday. Had 4 spitouts, and it just felt like no matter how I threw the disc, it wouldn't go where i wanted to. This destroyed my confidence in the round and I had the worst performance I've had since last summer. Thank you for the tips for when this happens next time!

thank you robbie! this was the most relatable video on your channel for me. i’ll start off decent or even good at times and a bogey or a quacked putt will drain my mentality and it’s downhill from there. i realize it and try to shake it off or hype myself back up, maybe i’ll start dancing instead (:

Thanks, I just went through something similar last weekend in a tournament. Had the lead and was having a great round through 7. Then after an awesome drive on the next hole I proceeded to 3 putt. Then the wheels just fell off and I couldn’t get out of my head until the last 4 holes when I had no chance of ever coming back.

One of the best things I have done for my mental game in disc golf is read “Golf is Not a Game of Perfect” by Bob Rotella. I won my first tournament a week after reading it. I have read it multiple times since. It was written for ball golf but 100% translates to disc golf. I highly recommend!

I'm so new to the game that bad shots are "normal" and I only remember the good ones. When I get home, I brag about the good ones to the sponsor, my wife. One round I was with a friend and said out loud, "Why do I even try?" What I meant was, why did I try so hard, if I just throw it usually works out. It took a moment to explain to my friend what was going through my head. I had to let him know I wasn't about to quit.

I think that playing poker is good preparation for these situations. There is a chance that your Aces get crushed (spited out) by bad luck, but sometimes it's just because you played them badly (that left corner). However any outcome doesn't mean you are bad player. It means that you lost one hand:-)
We just need to focus on longterm outcome
    Love your speech about bifocals

Started playing AM3 doubles it's great. I'm such a noodle arm I always was scared of entering tournaments. The doubles set up has been a huge confidence builder but more so I discovered I don't have a long drive but do have deadly up shots and technical approaches. My partner gets us down the field most of the time but I end up putting us at the basket.

I can shoot a -10 on any given day at my local course and then at a tournament I shoot even par. Always get nervous and timid and it causes me to miss putts and shank throws.

It seems like you do a LOT of thinking during a round. Fortunately, I'm not terribly bright so thoughts (good or bad) rarely creep into my head during a round. On the other hand, the last song I hear before I start is crucial because it will play over and over in my head the entire round.

Great advice for players of all ages and skill level. The mental part of the game is equally as challenging as the physical and requires that we work at it too...Thanks for giving us some tools to help us become well-rounded chuckers. Count me in for the Practice to Tourney Day series.

I even worry when I'm sucking if it's causing others to start making mistakes.
I start Rooting for my card mates, in hopes a rising tide lifts all putters.
Want for others what you want for yourself. Helps me to get out of those selfish thoughts and nagging putt ruts.
