I really agree with the minimap being your bestfriend. Been playing for 15 years now since dota 1 and I look more at the minimap than the interface infront of me. I usually remember what color of enemy heroes can easily kill me and train my peripheral vision to alert me if that color disappears from the map and I play safe like tower hugging or hiding behind tree lines.
So, it happened to me recently, and it is this observation made by my brother and some of my friends that we play dota with: how do you keep track of what is happening, despite the fact that you never move camera towards a lane or a fight? My answer was: minimap and the fact that I constantly tap the ALT key to track their health/mana bars and tp status/ulti. Based on those, I have an idea on what they used and what the enemy might have used, before actually moving the camera and tp to help.
Also something that I didnt do when I started a couple of years ago, checking the items a player has, anytime, especially when their couriers come, to see their items but also to see if they brought wards. Somewhere I heard that you most likely know what's happening, for example, when you killed 2 in a line, you might expect gank, it might not happen but that sort of things you dont need to see to know they could happen, and that is due to experience. Most people that have played dota for some years can tell "they must be roshan", or "if they arent roshan then they must not be THAT good players because that was the moment". Or for example, the ursa is not on sight, he must be roshan. Those kind of things you learn from experience and prediction, rather than actually knowing.
probably my most played hero is medusa, in most of the games i try always to push/dfend empty lanes, meanwhije jungle, end when i get skadi, maelstorm, boots and lvl 20, i start fighting in bigger fights which is about 25-35minute mark. usually when i start to fight sooner I just get killed. afterwards about the 40 minute mark with lvl 25 i can even get solo triple kills and save the day. this is at 400-600mmr range i play solo on EU servers. each time i climb up to 600 i start loosing to to 400-500 than again climb to 600 then drop down, for more than 5 years now :D and when i get: skadi, boots, mojhnir, desolator, some lifesteal/mkb, butterfly/moonshard i am unstopable. i jsut ulti and kill, and if they run than come back i still jsut kill them min 2 of them solo then my team finishes it.
Erik Kubica me aswell dude. In the first year play dota i get 800mmr , verry difficult to climb the mmr and i play at SEA server. Mostly i meet the toxic people, they try to build the hero with something new. I mean like a new meta, but they trying at ranked match but at this moment finally i reach 4700mmr“. Keep spirit dude
100% this alone will get us from 2k to 3k. I think the hardest thing as you mentioned is having to decide against the team when they’re pressuring you to participate. Ima post this guide to my steam profile in hopes for better 2k mates on a journey to get better with me 🤙

Hi Speed. I use the minimap option that shows the heroe icon. So I can't see arrows pointing on the direction the hero is looking unless I press alt. Should I change it back to arrows?

Hello. I'm no Speed but I felt nervous playing the patch at first too. And what helped me was watching pros on twitch discover it or just playing it. It made me feel much more comfortable in game cause they felt like a part of the game instead of new things that I don't know how to make use of. Also, play a couple of unranked games to be sure you're completely comfortable with the patch. Good luck!
@1:21 that PL with 2 wraith and hood is really really good. I tried it in my 2 games as PL but instead of hood i build vanguard since my enemy offlane is balanar on one game and the other game is against slardar. I suddenly remember back in dota 1 days that i build those items early even if im carry for early sustain and farming easily. just to share my 2 games, 1 is against slardar and earth shaker. 2 wraith, boots, VG, treads, diffusal and hood. Then abyssal and heart. We took the game at 40mins. game 2 is against balanar and SF mid, so again 2 wraith, boots, VG, treads, diffusal and hood. Then abyssal and heart, we took the game at 34 mins. Why did i only found this page yesterday. Im an archon scrub that can usually reach legend then i will went back again in archon, it's like this is my curse. I hope i'll improve my game watching your vids. Thanks!

Good general concept. Matchmaking today is the biggest problem. Playing in China I lost 3k mmr. Yesterday in Europe I played sniper mid, and was easier than against bots. Great videos man 👏

Hi Speed, how do you improve hand-eye coordination mechanics and improve execution accuracy. Are there some warm up exercises or routines professionals do to improve accuracy for example, right/left clicking, item purchase, spell miss-cast (wrong button)... I noticed that these are very common mistakes specially lower mmr, and I observed it happening to my self. When I'm having a good game usually its because I have less errors. Which almost saying to me that the amount of error committed dictates the win probability.
i picked ogre and snapfire as pos 1 and destroyed everyone ps. i only picked them because my hard support picked anti mage and the other game he picked PA lol
The carry stuff has helped me in my supporting. I think most people want to be a carry. But can you talk about support goals? I know the same things apply but to what degree? 25 cs by 10 min? Use our item timings or wait for carry item timings? I’m stoop but not ashamed that I need goals lol
Hey speed been watching a lot of vids recently, a lot of good info and it’s much appreciated. I have been playing a long time and just recently started to rise in mmr after really going try hard. One thing I’ve noticed is that, many games if I ask to smoke they will listen and smoke up. Those games are usually easy. But how do I win games where my team refuses to work together, especially when you know you have the ability to end in the mid game, and will lose in the late. Thanks again.
Dont lose your cool and tell your team if you tilt you lose. Wait and be patient and you will make better decisions, esentially allowing you to solo carry games at lower mmrs
Great. But what should I do if my team is getting pressured in all lanes under 15 minutes? Especially since my offlane is a passive farming hero (probably jungling) who can't create space, or defend towers? Should I rage quit? Or just buy a higher bracket account?
@O K yup that's always what I wanted to do. Except when enemy keep ganking me with at least 2-3 heroes. And our lanes were the ones that's getting shoved. Since my offlaner is either a soft hero, or a farming one
@O K I partly agree on the excuse part lol. But yeah, most of the time the offlaner are just passive farming hero. Heroes that needs items and levels. Just like any other safelaner. So, they focus on getting last hits, ignoring the enemy's carry. In worse case, they got zoned out, and left for jungle instead. Which let the enemy to pressure their lane, and their supports easily roam every lane and shut down our safelane early on.
@O K i just had this recent game. Exactly. A farming offlane wk against an enemy am. His first item is midas. I guess he wanna outfarm the am lul. And my mid is a rekt mk against a good sf. I did well in my safelane as a support jakiro with jugg against underlord and pudge. Had 2 kills and 3 assist in 5 minutes. We were owning. And I left jugg to free farm. Helped my offlane, he can't do shit. Once am starts to hit, he goes out of mana, and already a useless hero.
i believe the creep aggro range was changed to 500 unit. if you right click on enemy hero within 500 unit of a creep they will aggro. if more than 500 they wont. So pos 4 or 5 right click from trees at 1000 unit they wil walk up and hit enemy carr without aggro
For this clip i suggest buying like mjo than echo saber (to get rid of PL and gives you attack speed) and some stats item like skadi or abysal something like that than aghanims because they got centaur, lesh and lina which can burst you out (btw it hurt my eyes seeing him wanna contest that rosh without vision better let enemy initiate first)
When im farming with naga, my eyes are always on the mini map. I can tank the creeps so im not worried about dyeing but always looking at my area as well.
Speed, please do a video on how to bounce back from a lost streak, the mentality you need to have and etc. In the past month I had a +875 MMR difference, putting me to 3,900 MMR, since then I've lost 16 matches, I want to blame my teammates because I'm getting Batrider and CK picked in the offlane, Naga and PA picked on safelane leaving me with middle and no jungle to farm.

I play unranked matches only (casual player), I feel it is OK all you say, but it is a bit too advanced theory, it's like you can farm well and everything but sometimes I feel that, for example if I just start killing all the creeps, denying and pushing (that is what I do) I will win or lose, but because other things, the hero choices to begin with, it is the most important thing. Also positions, it's like I dont know the positions and having 1 support and a carry doesn't garantee you anything, the other day I won a match in which 5 of us were supports, so at the end of the day I am not sure about positions being like must do, straight from the book, coordination is most important. The team you have is also important, because there are times in which I ended up like 30 -2, I made a massacre and still lost! Because all the others start focusing you and, you know, at low level you have heralds, guardians (that is me) and also sometimes there are boosters, legends, archonts and such. Most newbies are afraid and just farm, they just dont know the moments to attack.. So basically, in unranked (in my case), many times a player wins the match, also I must say that sometimes when there is an advanced player in a team, the matchmaking puts another advanced player in the other team. But most of the times it is random, sometimes I am the best of my team, and sometimes I am just average, the matchmaking is so inconsistent. I would rather wait 5 minutes more and expect the system match me with 9 more similar players.

well tbh i played as viper one game and i got 36 kills 1 death 28 assists cuase game matched me up with noobs but i literally carried the whole game and i did exactly what this guy siad, creep aggro, mini pos, if u r able to fight in a battle, watch mini map and items and farming. this rlly helps guys cuase my team and enemy team were not even communicating and didnt know what to do lol
Dota isn't fun anymore. :( It's not the game, it's the players. I ranked up a bit... and now they start blaming and insulting 24/7. Always at least two people even in the games we are winning. I'm considering uninstalling.

Not your 4, their 4. Often they will position toward you to harass/prep a stun for an attempt etc. Watch what they are doing to predict and move proactive rather than reactive. This is a bit hard due to your focus on farm, but you can do that. The creep agro is kinda hard to give examples of, mainly you want the creep equilibrium to be in front of your tower and you want the last hits to be easy. For example if a melee creep is getting low and close to the enemies, you can go agro it towards you for a safe last hit and avoid unnecessary harass

Tip 6: Picking a support hero as a pos 1 or 2 doesn't make you a memelord if you suck. You are NOT Elwono or Rizpol.....

For this clip i suggest buying like mjo than echo saber (to get rid of PL and gives you attack speed) and some stats item like skadi or abysal something like that than aghanims because they got centaur, lesh and lina which can burst you out (btw it hurt my eyes seeing him wanna contest that rosh without vision better let enemy initiate first)

When im farming with naga, my eyes are always on the mini map. I can tank the creeps so im not worried about dyeing but always looking at my area as well.
I play naga (farming) only on the minimap i command my illusions on different camps and lanes by clicking force attack on minimap
Speed, please do a video on how to bounce back from a lost streak, the mentality you need to have and etc. In the past month I had a +875 MMR difference, putting me to 3,900 MMR, since then I've lost 16 matches, I want to blame my teammates because I'm getting Batrider and CK picked in the offlane, Naga and PA picked on safelane leaving me with middle and no jungle to farm.
Everytime i agro creep,the enemy did it too,sometimes their suports get close to the creep i agro and i get harassed,wat should i do

I play unranked matches only (casual player), I feel it is OK all you say, but it is a bit too advanced theory, it's like you can farm well and everything but sometimes I feel that, for example if I just start killing all the creeps, denying and pushing (that is what I do) I will win or lose, but because other things, the hero choices to begin with, it is the most important thing.
Also positions, it's like I dont know the positions and having 1 support and a carry doesn't garantee you anything, the other day I won a match in which 5 of us were supports, so at the end of the day I am not sure about positions being like must do, straight from the book, coordination is most important.
The team you have is also important, because there are times in which I ended up like 30 -2, I made a massacre and still lost! Because all the others start focusing you and, you know, at low level you have heralds, guardians (that is me) and also sometimes there are boosters, legends, archonts and such. Most newbies are afraid and just farm, they just dont know the moments to attack..
So basically, in unranked (in my case), many times a player wins the match, also I must say that sometimes when there is an advanced player in a team, the matchmaking puts another advanced player in the other team. But most of the times it is random, sometimes I am the best of my team, and sometimes I am just average, the matchmaking is so inconsistent. I would rather wait 5 minutes more and expect the system match me with 9 more similar players.
He how can I avail a coaching session? I'm an archon player and want to get better at dota more. Hope you notice.

well tbh i played as viper one game and i got 36 kills 1 death 28 assists cuase game matched me up with noobs but i literally carried the whole game and i did exactly what this guy siad, creep aggro, mini pos, if u r able to fight in a battle, watch mini map and items and farming. this rlly helps guys cuase my team and enemy team were not even communicating and didnt know what to do lol

It's not the game, it's the players. I ranked up a bit... and now they start blaming and insulting 24/7. Always at least two people even in the games we are winning. I'm considering uninstalling.

Not your 4, their 4. Often they will position toward you to harass/prep a stun for an attempt etc. Watch what they are doing to predict and move proactive rather than reactive. This is a bit hard due to your focus on farm, but you can do that. The creep agro is kinda hard to give examples of, mainly you want the creep equilibrium to be in front of your tower and you want the last hits to be easy. For example if a melee creep is getting low and close to the enemies, you can go agro it towards you for a safe last hit and avoid unnecessary harass
