    The smaller bits are to fit into smaller tighter spaces such as recessed fasteners on electronics, fishing reels, folding knives, etc......As others on here have already stated Milwaukee is going 3.5 as well. So pack up all your toys and don't play if you want, I"m actually going to buy 6 of these precision kits one for each vehicle my home and my office.

      That’s a good enough reason why I’d buy them I don’t know how many times I’ve gone to use bits and they don’t fit in the well and when most of my screwdrivers are insulated and don’t fit either this solves that problem great idea in my opinion

    The precision bits are nice. I get not supporting proprietary. But by buying klein. You’re already doing that. That set is worth it. Some precision sets get pretty pricy and I feel klein is reasonable.

    All the other sets are proprietary. Just look at the pass thought sockets or the flip sockets it's all proprietary. What's the difference?

    • @scgear3847
      @scgear3847 2 місяці тому

      The difference for me is there is no standard pass thru socket standard like socket drive sizes. Plus Klein gives you a lot of adapters to use the proprietary sockets with standard wrenches. Bits that are more easily lost, should be able to be replaced, according to th3 Klein Reddit group you can’t order repkacemen5 parts for these kits, you hav3 to buy a whole kit.

    I thought the whole point of kits was to avoid unnecessary trips to the tool box or truck. Proprietary tools just makes everything more complicated than it needs to be. Imagine explaining to an apprentice on what tool you want him to retrieve.

      3.5 will become the standard soon. That .5mm make a huge difference in being able to get to some fasteners that 4mm just can't.

  • @bcwrangler
    @bcwrangler 8 місяців тому +2

    I would rather have a metric only set of those flip sockets as i never use SAE plus that metric only would hopefully make the cases close to the same size as the rest

  • @scgear3847
    @scgear3847 2 місяці тому

    From a Klein group you can’t buy replacement parts for these sets from Klein. They sell them as kits only. Thanks for saving me from buying the precision set, was thinking about it, but if you can’t buy replacement bits, why bother. It’s weird considering how much the knect system is all about compatibility.

  • @gf2e
    @gf2e 8 місяців тому +1

    The other flip socket Klein stuff is somewhat proprietary, but it really seems like it’s *better*, *unavoidable*, and they use standards when they can.
    Like that adapter you want a spare of. It does have a proprietary stat, but it also accepts 1/4” and 3/8” square. They didn’t do weird things “just because”.
    I have a set of Wiha 4mm bits that I got over 20 years ago. The ModBox system isn’t great enough to make me forego backwards compatibility.

    • @markkempton4579
      @markkempton4579 7 місяців тому

      I *think* the wrench itself is a 17mm opening, which seems to be a standard in that you can throw in the stubby sockets from Astro, et al, to expand the line. I saw that discussion on a FB forum recently. I'm planning to test it as I'm buying both the Astros and the Klein box. Just waiting for Klein to release the ratchet sets in metric.

    Great overview. Thank you. I thought 3.5mm was the standard mini bit size. That's what mine have been, though they probably came from my old Klein system. I definitely prefer they stick with 3.5. I bought the 1/4 ratchet set, I was super excited to have it. So I grabbed the ratchet, grabbed the extension, snapped it on, then grabbed the 3/8 socket slapped it on, used it and it worked great!! Then went to take it all down, pulled the extension off and placed the ratchet back in its cradle, then tugged on the 3/8 socket and it wouldn’t come out. So I yanked on it harder, still stuck, grabbed a pair of channel locks to get a better purchase on the socket. I tugged and yanked and pulled and twisted, and it’s stuck…..still. Ran it back to Lowe’s and asked for a refund. I was extremely disappointed. It was the perfect size and everything about it was going to be functional for me….only to find out it was garbage!!! Sorry but 👎👎

    yeah that 3.5mm SUCKS!
    and NOT a fan of ball-detent bits either
    the handle should be responsible for holding the bit
    there's that little groove in short bits & that big hollow in the longer bits
    the handle should have some kind of locking mechanism and/or magnet
    then there's magnets...
    I've been having older magnets de-chrome and then they turn to magnetic dust
    NOT a fan of magnets anymore
