Hi @@extrememod_ahu , can you please help me with my android unit? I have it working just fine, then I wanted to connect the roof top monitor, and this is when the issue started. The screen of my unit went white and unresponsive. I tried resetting it from the reset button, power cycle, nothing. I do not have the kernel version or any other data, as I cannot start it. I did open it up and on the pcb it says Topway T3L-A109D4X1-V2. Please, how can I reset it or something that will make it work again?
On newer units, with all conectors in the same line, the trick that worked for me was to keep it plugged, give the reboot command and "turn the car key" off. Than plug it with start enabled and "turn the car key" on.

Thanks for new video. Little extras helped a lot. If I already unBricked my device 2x with backup flash and have unlock and debug options already can I just skip firmware step and do TWRP recovery? Mine is 9216bj but 2gb ram not 1gb. That’s my cheap one for testing and will share info and help others. Other is 10.1 api 27 not messing with that one yet.

Hi. Awesome tutorial. I stop in the step- Memory teste- Start. The head unit doesn’t appears. But a small blue led is on in the motherboard
912 volt DC power supply will work and you don't even need to spend the computer power supply.. and you don't even need that special connector.. just twist the wires together with wire nuts... I have the special adapter for a universal 12-volt plug set.. but for those that don't and don't need to spend money unnecessarily

Brother thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge with this video. I tried to follow your instructions but for my unit YT7620B I need to push reset for a second and then keep it pressed for the HU to communicate with PC, it has MT6761 so the scatter file was not compatible either. Got a scatter file for this chip and the memory test option is now different and only has DRAM Flip test. Any ideas?
It's a different Mediatek chip so chances are, this tutorial will only partially apply. Unfortunately we haven't worked with your unit type so we can't advise any further right now

I did find some info though, I have to press once the reset button, release it and then keep holding it again and then the software will start to do its thing. Kind of a pain if one has to keep that button pressed throughout a dumping process for a 64Gb unit....

Will this backup work for a 768 x 1024 ( 6bit ) display tesla type head unit. You also have a video for a complete fresh copy of Android system, all the mcu and model fit the criteria you have in the instructions except, again, the resolution as mentioned above 768 x 1024 do you thinkl this upgrade will work.
This heavily depends on the type of your motherboard but in theory this should work on most Mediatek devices. You might need to use another generic scatter but try the one included first.
I never knew that someone will come up with such simple amd helpful tutorial ,thanks a lot... A couple of months took me to figure out all these flashing ,connecting with usb A to A cable,and all ,4pda is like an ocean of information. (9216ch) is im having all i want is to put Android 8 or 9 or 10 but im not finding any rom .. can you help me ..?

My HU stuck on TWRP couldn't go forward. recovery.img causing the problem. I placed the original recovery.img and tried again, the TWRP wouldn't recognize the file. The HU started normally without any changes.

Backed up and flashed back with no issues thanks. ive come to install new rom yet on first part it says.. 6. Only tick boxes BOOT, SYSTEM (sometimes called ‘ANDROID’) and VENDOR. i have no vendor option in the options.

After installing the drivers, my pc doesn't see the HU. It's a 8227L (exactly the same thing as in your video, same home screen, only a different colour plastic on the back). I connected it to power. Memory test doesn't do anything. I'm using Windows 11. Any idea what's going wrong?
This method is only tested on Windows 10 and below. Also there are many different variants of 8227L head units. Check our "Test Point Recovery" video. Does your motherboard look the same?

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Would like to ask Doni need to turn on radio while connecting to PC via USB cable or it can vee turned off ?
Normally you only need to connect the USB cable when flashing via SP Flash Tool. Sometimes you need to connect the head unit to power after connecting the USB cable.
When running ADB, then you need to have you head unit powered on, booted and connected to your PC.
@@extrememod_ahu I did all steps carefully and before flashing software where i had to tick box BOOT, ANDROID, AND VENDOR i was missing VENDOR box there was only boot, android. so i flashed , but nothing happened, same soft appeared. aSorry for bad english.
@@andriusbns07 if VENDOR isn't present, you can simply skip it. As for the firmware, did you run a full factory reset after the installation?
@@extrememod_ahu yes i did full reset, but it seems that after flash without VENDOR my old soft was booted with my old files, not like in your post pictures. So it took time to flash , but it seems nothing was flashed , just old software booted.
@@andriusbns07 that has nothing to do with Vendor. Your had unit has flash protecton or you haven't fully installed the new firmware.

Hi, is there any way this patch works for F9212A/B? I know the whole rom almost surely won't work for my radio, but can I at least be able to root it? I have a ROM and can extract the scatter file from there.
The procedure will work the same way yes. However you might need to connect your head unit to power after inserting the USB cable. Our software will however not work on your head unit.

Topway TS7 units are completely different. They are based on UIS8141E chip and are not meant to be fiddled with. They are probably the least modifiable head units and are meant to be well-configured from the get-go. TS9 are a little bit better in that way.
@@extrememod_ahu you mean to say all topway series which i think is (t3,ts7,t5,t9) are in same class? we can not modify them like mediatek right? so should i forget about rom flashing of all this? or is there possibility of any?
@@rajuradios Topway head units are based on different chipsets but in general are much less modifiable than Mediatek. In fact, Mediatek is by far the most modifiable technology while being the cheapest one as well. Rockchip technology powered by MTCx MCU chips is a close runner-up as far as mods go.
Love what you're doing. Will firmware recognize upgraded memory chips (if available). I would like to have 4gb ram on a failed 1gb-16gb model I just pulled out of my van.

It will not. It has to be not only the same memory amount but also the same memory type. The unit you are talking about is likely to only support up to 2Gb RAM. It's by far one of the most difficult mods as it will require some yoda-like Android programming skills to make it work.

@@stephenwgreen78 upgrading the RAM on an already working head unit shouldn't cause issues. If you upgrade from 1GB to 2GB, you'll notice a significant difference in performance. Make sure to replace ALL RAM modules on the motherboard when going from 1 to 2 GB. It can be 1, 2 or 4 modules.
Then boot your unit as normal and then check the available memory with a "RAM fill" app. Don't trust what you see on CPU-Z or AIDA64 types of apps, as the Android OS is many times hacked to show incorrect details.
If all is well, create the full backup. Good luck!

It will but it would be a pointless exercise as you'd have a backup of a faulty device.

While the internal Mediatek chip is the same as in the YT92 units, the rest is different so this tutorial will only partially apply to your unit type. Unfortunately we can't provide more information at this time

Unlikely if it stopped working without any previous modifications to the Android system. Open it up and check the smallest flat cable.

Windows 11 users are often experiencing issues with installing the drivers. We recommend Win7 or Win10.
The SP Flash Tool will not detect the head unit unless all cables including power are removed except for the 4-pin USB? In other words, it must be unplugged from the car when trying to flash? Thanks

When are you getting this error? At what step?
@@extrememod_ahu Once the zip file is downloaded and unzipped in its folder, the executable file shown on the desktop as a shortcut and video, then I launch the executable as administrator.

Hello there good sir, is it possible to install Android OS on non android units like Alpine EX900 ? There are some that did it on UA-cam but they are on different country and they are charging big money for it , can you make a tutorial or let me know if it's possible?
It is NOT possible unless you do the necessary hardware modifications first. This is an extremely difficult task and makes little sense.
If you are worried about losing the sound quality by purchasing an Android Head Unit, get a head unit with digital sound output (make sure your aftermarket car amp has a Digital IN). Alternatively, you can order one of our custom-made units that will outperform anything currently available on the head unit market in the similar price range.

Sounds like your USB goes into sleep on you computer. Turn off the USB Suspend mode

Hey there, i am using 8227l 9216b unit when i choose system language other than english (i tried on turkish and deutsch) fm radio app crashes when i want to control with steering wheel control. Do you have any solution this ? I'm using your firmware package updated on september.
Did you install just the firmware or the whole software package?

Hi, everything went smoothly but after I did Cut ROM including firmware... I was trying to copy the USERDATA from My scatter&..p. to My firmware, it wasn't there in My scatter&pre. map. I compared your screen map with mine, mine didn't has cach frp or USERDATA files. did I do anything wrong?! I fallowed you step-by-step.🙋

That's exactly what made me doubt it too. I think he copied these files from the "Hard Reset" folder to the "My Scatter and Preloader" folder before. Why he cut out this step I don't know. As you can see, the Hard Reset folder is no longer there.

It's not the same on all these models. We're going to post a video later on how to restore backup, change firmware between different Android versions and updating current firmware to another one with same API level.
That's really a helpful guide for beginners. I am facing a problem. drivers are installed correctly and the HU also connects and shows up in the device manager but SP flash tool is unable to get/read anything from the HU, I don't know what I'm missing here. plz help me out i really want to update my HU. tried with 2 different PC both running win 10

With Joying probably no. You need one of those unbranded units unless someone has made a specific custom mod for your unit

Hi, i have 2 head units 8227l, one works and the other one have firmware problems, can i make a backup from the working one and flash it on the bad one?

Nice video, I made it exactly according to the video, it installs the old driver to the universal usb after uninstalling the software, not the hardware, nothing remains, running splas tool shows nothing, I have win 11

Hi, can you share the whole memory dump file (boot1, memory map, etc.) you created in this video?
We have a library of memory dumps for various XYAuto head unit variations, however it is not recommended to use somebody else's memory dump as it'll brick your unit beyond the normal means of repair 90% of the time.

hello i have a problem with YT9216bj i have rom Кастом прошивка 9216v7.3 ver 4.0 от Stranger21ufa form 4pda. Few days a go i had a problem with GPS. Gps dont find satelites and a few days i cant turn on wifi bluetoth. I must few times reboot device to start the radio app and listen to the radio . Did everything work with the stock firmware? If you had issues before flashing the custom firmware, then it's likely a hardware issue. You could try to update the MCU but it's a highly risky process and can brick your head unit beyond normal means of repair.
@@extrememod_ahu I am tested few firmware and its the same. And mcu ? I dowgrade to 3.5 update back to 4.0 and 4.6 without changes. Before and after flash modified firmware everythink was fine. I have this problem 1 week. I used modified firmware 2 months and everythink ok. Do you thing ist problem from MCU?
I go Test mode and install driver like video. then install driver ( don't click delete the driver software.....) .press " start" and plug usb 4 pin also don't detect COM.
Make sure to restart the computer after installing the drivers. If this doesn't help, after inserting the USB cable, connect the unit to power - WITHOUT releasing the Test Point (you will probably need a second person to help you)
When I got to the step of the scatter file and pluging in the USB to do the memory test.... It does nothing!!! What is the problem??? Thanks
Provided your drivers installed correctly and you aren't running Windows 11 - try to connect your unit to power, after inserting the USB cable. Then disconnect from power before removing the USB cable

Good custom firmware comes with appropriate installation instructions.

Sometimes you need to connect your head unit to power 5 seconds after inserting the USB cable. And then keep it connected to power until you see "OK" screen. Try that.

I'm not completely new to this as I used to be known on XDA developers I used to make ROMs for the Note 5 I was actually the first one to do it I used to make AOSP bass drums for it and other Galaxy phones but my first go around with a head unit and I've been out of it for a while.
However is there a rooting thing or is that also on XDA
@@jthrasher47 when we use this on our own units, we first install an internal TF card slot through hardware modification, then use the SDCard for RAM swap, as you don't want to do thi on the main flash drive as it'll have a negative effect on it's shelf life.
You can easily root your head unit by first installing a working TWRP console. You should be able to find TWRP for your unit type on XDA.
@@extrememod_ahu no there isn't a working TWRP image for my unit at all none that I can find. I went through your method and I'm not getting my computer to recognize it first it wouldn't install the drivers due to them not being signed..
Secondly I think it's because I had a USB 3.0 cable didn't have a USB 2.0 but I do have an adapter that'll go to USBC to usba that works fine on phones but still wouldn't recognize on the head unit..
It is much easier to operate with it out of the vehicle I had one of those adapters lying around in a 12 volt power supply...
However I would love her working recovery image if I send you my stock image could you make one as I don't have a Linux setup at the moment so I can't do it
@PrivateName47 if you followed our instructions then you can see how we install the driver. This won't work on Windows 11. Make sure to use a USB cable shorter than 1m, no adapters and preferably USB2.0 port.
