How To Run With A Pistol and Shoot Accurately While Moving

How to run with a pistol to engage the threat effectively while shooting on the move. Often times we see police officers running with no control over their weapon system. Keep in mind that your muzzle needs to be pointed in a safe direction at all times or pointed at the threat. The best way to achieve this is to either carry your pistol in a high ready position, a low ready position or again, pointed at the suspect. The only thing that matters is hits in vital areas. We know those stop gun fights. Like any tactical skill you have to have a process for completing this. If you do not know how to do this, or have never trained it, then what are you expecting to accomplish.

In our academy, we were taught to carry the weapon like you preferred and run. The second option was to keep it faced down but directly adjacent to the holster. Basically keeping your thumb touching the tip of holster and then running. Thoughts on that? Idk if I’m explaining it right.

I know what you are talking about. Generally speaking as long as you have positive control and it’s pointed in a “safe” direction. However, I would prefer holding the gun in a position that is familiar and close to a ready position you might train on the range.,,like the video. You are more likely to get predictable outcomes ….you should be faster to shoot from the position in the video vs. all the way down by your holster.
Plus that’s an awkward unfamiliar position to run with your arms like that.
