  • Win and Win Black wolf recurve, 17" Riser, 50# Medium limbs makes for a 60" Bow. The limbs are measured at the minimum setting, 4 turns out, and allow for adjustment up in weight approximately 4# on this bow.
    The bow is balanced exceptionally well, no need for a stabilizer. It has ZERO vibration, is extremely smooth to draw and puts an incredible amount of energy into the arrow which leads to exceptional velocity according to recurve standards. I would say it is deceptively fast, you wouldn't know with it being so smooth that it is as fast as it is, once you test it, your eyes are really opened.
    The draw cycle is so smooth that going up 4# in draw weight (to 52.5# in this video) did not feel noticeably heavier, it felt equal to my 48# 56" Stalker coyote recurve. The limbs are that smooth. And, it felt lighter than my 48" Bear Supermag which is 48# at the same draw length.

    Mine is 50# @28 and is 62in. It is the best hunting recurve I have. I was suprised by just how well it performs

    Great video man. I just bought the 62” with 40lb limbs. I have a 29,5” draw and intend adjusting the tiller to max giving me a roughly 45lb @29,5”draw bow. Wild mountain goats are my quarry. Can’t wait!🏆

    The caldwell chronos are probably the hottest chronos on the market. They read 15 fps faster than the competition edge pro chronos. Just fyi

    Wonder how fast the 65 # limbs would be.

    Do you know the difference between the Black Wolf and the Black Elk other than the length of the riser?

    • @Bowstringdotcom
      @Bowstringdotcom  3 місяці тому +1

      I believe other than “Black” in the name, they are in no way similar, the Black Wolf is a carbon riser with Carbon limbs, black ek is an aluminum riser and I can’t say what limbs. Both are ILF fittings but otherwise completely different animals.

    Nice review😊 what did you do to the grip?

    • @Bowstringdotcom
      @Bowstringdotcom  3 роки тому +1

      It looks like the prior owner overtightened the screws and one seated into the grip rather than compressing the grip. I got two small washers that fit, two slightly longer screws so it would be more secure and also placed two small strips of leather about 1/8” wide by 1/2” long at each end under the grip. It is secure and silent now.

    How has the bow held up? What limbs are you using with them? This bow is short list with the Hoyt Satori

      I didn’t keep this one very long, I ran black wolf limbs on it, I had 40# and 50# limbs at different times. but my impressions are the carbon riser is silent, completely vibration free and the limbs are better than the carbon trad Velos satori limbs. They felt smoother in comparison and shot a few fps faster than a satori with carbon limbs. I liked the balance of the Black wolf way more than a satori, I was underwhelmed with the satori and would pick a BLack wolf again without hesitation. I went back to wood bows for the soul and style of them, the Black wolf is a serious performer.

      @@Bowstringdotcom What are you using now? I waffle back and forth between the ILF and one piece bows. It's just hard to find a one piece with carbon that isn't an arm and a leg

      I have a Striker Stinger takedown, R/D longbow limbs, 14” riser makes a 60” bow. I haven’t found anything that I can shoot as comfortably and as consistently, it just works for me. And it’s very confidence inspiring. The black wolf I should have given more time, but I made the decision because I like the look of wood and the feel of it too. Don’t get me wrong that Black wolf is neat looking, and a top shelf performer, but I missed the soul of wood. If I was to buy another ILF it would be the Black wolf. It’s limbs were better than the Satori Carbon Velos and the Uukah I tried, smoother and faster than both, the satori I would rank third of the three.

    How much speed do you think I’d lose if I went with 45 pounds

    • @Bowstringdotcom
      @Bowstringdotcom  3 роки тому +1

      On any of these bows, my estimate would be if you step down 5 lbs of draw weight with the same weight arrow, you would lose 7-10 FPS. Really nothing to worry about. Its better to shoot a lower draw weight bow accurately, than one that is too heavy inconsistently.

      @@Bowstringdotcom For sure, just curious I’ve been in the compound game for a long time I didn’t know if the speed loss would be similar or not but totally agree

    What quiveris do you have on the bow?

    • @Bowstringdotcom
      @Bowstringdotcom  2 роки тому

      I believe that one was a Selway strap on in black leather, it may have been a Thunderhorn, but I usually go for the Selway strap models.

    Is that fast? Will that kill a squirrel?

    • @thewhiskeycowboy-official
      @thewhiskeycowboy-official 3 роки тому

      It is impressive for a short recurve hunting bow. And yes, it will kill a squirrel... on up to a deer depending on the tip you use and your distance to the animal.

      Good deal was just curious if was comparable to my Striker RK1

    • @peterweikel7123
      @peterweikel7123 3 роки тому

      @@brettjamesmiller probably fairly comparable to your striker with the differences being the Black Wolf had no mounting points for a sight or quiver. You can mount a stabilizer or a plunger and not much else. WIN AND win designed it to be a bare hunting bow and for that it is a great option for the price
