- We all love a good Tele vs Strat video. But this one is different. Can YOU tell the difference between a Telecaster and a Stratocaster. In this video You will be the one who is blindfolded. I look forward to seeing how many of you get it right, and wrong! :)

Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro)
I did manage to guess correctly, but I am really surprised how close they sound. Almost makes you think you don't need both - but who am I kidding, I want both!
The original video was how I found you, Mike! Great work! 😄
intheblues Yes, me too. For a good bit of time, I thought they were real life twins!
Thanks so much my friend! :)
@@lueysixty-six7300 haha Love it!
G1 Neck 3:43
G2 Neck 4:47
G1 Bridge 6:04
G2 Bridge 7:01
Difficult but for me it was the bridge pickup on the Tele that gave it away
I can always tell the difference in this kind of videos! The strat sounds "classier" and clearer. That's why my fav is... The Telecaster !!
I swear the first time I watched your split video, you had a twin. Very nicely done. I love your playing as well.
Funny... I play both and had it reversed in my evaluation. I though the first one was the Tele...
G1 and G2 Bridge i had gotten wrong!, but once i re listened it was quite obvious. Thanks that was fun while enjoying my morning coffee! Ed
good to see Mike 2 again
I couldn't tell which was which until you got some overdrive in there. The tele has a more direct sound and it really comes through when some gain is added. So, yeah, I could tell!
I guessed correctly, but I had a lot of doubts. I was surprised they were so close. Very clever video editing to get your twin in the video.
Glad to see your still using that 60th anniversary tele. Going to look at one myself tomorrow
Thank you Mike, fun video. I got it right, was wondering, but the bass response on the Tele bridge is distinctive.
Oh, it's you and you again :)
After video: I guess right that, first was strat. I have played both and strat neck sound is just so unique so it's pretty easy to know.
Love my tele so much! But strats so good 🙈🙈🙈🤯
Edit: see you this weekend bro 🤘
I hear you buddy!.. Yes looking forward to seeing you!
I picked them out on the first sample, I think the clean makes it easier to identify, especially for the neck PUP, might be as I have a strat, very subtle differences
Cool video Mike. Really wasn’t sure based on the neck posn, but like you said, the bridge on the Tele gave it away. Keep up the great work, awesome site!
Dope vid, Mike. Cool concept and it's always a pleasure to see Mike2.
Cheers, dude
Super! Great to See ya as a Split Version again! 👍👍👍
Cant have enough mike‘s!!!!!
Ohhh i got it right by the way ha ha...but sorry it was easy👌💡
@@bobbyneedle haha good man!!
Guessed right but it was hard for me to tell. Played loud last night deaf this morning!
Will someone please compare the middle strat v middle tele position? Great video!
Closer than I expected but that Tele bridge pick up settled it.
So cool and you do this really well Mike! cheers bud
Cheers Derek! :)
I can't tell. Just listened to the clean sound so far. There seems to be a slightly wider frequency range on guitar 1.
What about having Mike Too make the next video and see if we can tell?
Mike,
You rock!
This is so funny! Great topic.
I love my Strats and I love my Teles. I have modified my teles with strat wiring. But, am able
to retain Tele sounds. They are both incredible guitars. It is very hard to pick one over the other.
They are both flat out incredible! I have to say you are incredibly entertaining!
LMAO on the Tele 2 PU's by Mike 2...
I guessed right - it wasn't easy as in at times I questioned whether or not I was hearing the Strat or Tele, but there were a few occasions where I felt confident on which guitar I was hearing. I was quite surprised actually at how close they sounded at times. Maybe its because they both sounded like you playing...
Haven't seen the reveal but halfway through I'll say Guit 1 was the Strat. Slightly more "springy" sound. Will I be embarrassed?
Yay, I was right. Fun challenge! The Tele had a tone that was a bit more even and ballsy; the Strat's was more springy or dynamic--and my theory is it has to do with the Strat's vibrato apparatus vibrating...
Good man!!
Great job Mikes. S’been a while!
On the clean tone I had the Strat as guitar one, But got it wrong at the end. 🤦🏽♂️
I believe the metal base plate actually makes the bridge pickup higher output. I saw that as an aftermarket strat bridge pickup option and I believe that is what the description said. Not positive there.
Only 10.5K views...??
Not fair!!!
Mikey does the best "twin" A-B videos in the game...
Meanwhile some trollup gets 23M views for doing a high kick in lycra pants 😑
Thank you, appreciate the kind words. For some reason UA-cam hasn’t been liking me for a while. Any help in spreading the word is very much appreciated.
Handsome twins! 😄 Thankfully you are more creative than your parents. (I guessed incorrectly, btw.)
😂🤣
thanks for the test. i got it right but it was difficult.
for me tele sounds more saturated, the strat sounds clearer.
bridge pickup & light overdrive is what made me decide.
I have both myself and it was actually easy for me to guess the Tele ahas this twangy sound especially the bridge.
I guessed correctly because I mainly play Telecasters and recognized the tones
Tele bridge pickup, always a dead giveaway...
You can't miss it!
I got it right but it was often so close. Says a lot about pickups and the players hands. Next can you do an overdriven Tele vs Les Paul, for the sake of early Led Zeppelin.
ooh I like that idea! :)
Honestly after 2s of hearing the strat I was 99.9% sure of my guess. I guessed the tele just because it did not sound like a strat. Funny fact I own a tele and no strat 😂. I cannot believe Mike when he says it was even difficult to him to guess, the strat has really a very specific signature. Thanks Mike, that was entertaining !
I guessed correctly but I think this video illustrates that tone is 95% in the hands
I am ironing and listen on my iPad and could not tell a great difference on the cleans and I dont own a tele, I will re-listen to this on my PC with monitors
I got it wrong.
honest man
That could actually be a good thing. :)
I doubted a lot. At first I got it right, but with more and more gain I started doubting more and more. If I have to choose, Tele for me.
gtr 1 neck pup was obvious strat. Thanks!
Lol I could tell the difference pretty quickly but the difference isn’t very major. Idk I’m a tele guy, especially for the neck pickup. Strats bridge is unbeatable but the tele can the get close.
Shit, guessed wrong straight from the cleans 😅
Nikoo033 Same here. I’ve only been playing these things about 28 years. 😂
Continental Aquatics reassuring. Cheers.
Clip 1 Strat , Clip 2 Strat Clip 3 Tele , Clip 4 Tele [ Sounds like ] , Clip 5 Tele , Clip 6 Strat ....after that tad harder
Interesting, and wrong! haha
Got it wrong ! As your a strat guy I thought the one you were struggling a little with was the tele. should have known better, some of your best (my opinion) videos have been with the tele.
The very first sound kind of gave it away, the neck pickup on a strat is so distinctive. The tele bridge with gain was the second clue...
I guessed right but wasn't confident, and skipped each sound sample section, harder than I thought
Much harder than I thought
i love your accent
lol I got it wrong and was so sure!
We guessed correct. Strat less bass and a bit brighter.
I got it wrong
Too much now I got a headache ...I knew the first one was the strat before you even played the tele
It looks funny af when you ignore mike 1 and just look at mike 2
suffering from the schizophrenia 😂
I heard these two guys shower together. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
hahahaha :)
Got it wrong
Mike2 is kind of weird. Then realized he had telecaster in his hands- of course that is why
The difference is: the left you is bigger than your right twin
I didn't so mush as have a toy guitar when I was fourteen.
I started playing when I was 12.
We need a BTS for this video
Gtr 1 Strat Gtr 2 tele 👍
One strat two tele
Two Mike Bradley video mean a thumb up as soon as the it starts
Wahoo! :)
Sorry to be a party pooper, but if the difference between the pups between these guitars is this subtle then maybe the difference is not worth the distinction.
play the same thing, Jesus
