    Rigid panels are the answer for cost and durability! Two 100 watt rigid are attached to my mini vans roof rack and have not disappointed in 6+ years 🎈

    Outstanding Review Brother 👏 I Maid the Mistake of not knowing anything about Portable Solar Generators, I Paid way to much, I purchased a 1832 watt Patriot Alliance Generator, I have had it now for 3 year's, I have never used it, I purchased 2 100watt portable panels, and then after I learned a little more about Generators, I Found out that I can only hook 300 watts to. I really love the Concept behind the Flex I think they were Kodak, and then they came out with there Flex Model. I really love how they can keep Stacking up Battery Packs, I don't know ifI will ever be able to up Grade, I have so much to learn, I have watched 3 reviews and I Secribed to your channel, Thank you for Sharing your experience. I live in MO I think we are a 5 on the Sun amount per Sunny Day. Thank you for letting me Secribe to your Channel. I have been learning a little more about Batteries, I purchased 3 Drones My Autel Evo pro 6k has lithium batteries and my DJI MINI 2 uses Polymer batteries, and my Cheaper Fimi 2020 X8 SE uses lithium. So please try to Tolerate my Lack of knowledge. @9:50 on top of those reasons, in full sun with a panel that is maxing out your power station, you can charge 2 power stations or a power station and a power bank supporting usb c or dc input

    I was given a Oukitel 2000 power station one month ago, and the power went out the next week for 3 days. As a senior citizen with no one available to consult, it was a learning experience. The unit kept the refrigerator and 2 freezers going 14 hours, with phone charger and a fan. I attempted to recharge with a gas generator but it only charged at 6% after 1 hour. Not sure if I did something wrong So I ended up taking it to my daughter's house to recharge it when the unit ran low. A neighbor helped me get the gas generator hooked up. I'm looking into solar panels but am getting more confused on what I should invest in. The unit takes up to 500 w, I would place the panel on back patio facing south. I live in Michigan. Our power goes out 4-6 times a year, often on nice days. Right now I would like to be able to recharge the power station if the electricity is out for an extended period. The gas generator is difficult for me to run, Do you have a suggestion on what would be a good option?

      Interesting! It looks like I'll have the opportunity to test it with the EB3A as well in a couple of weeks or so. I'll be very curious if I get similar results. I do regularly see 180W+ from my BougeRV 200W panel though with other power stations with a sufficient DC Input spec.

      Which power station you use to see over 180+ watt input?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      @@jakeliujakeliu Well, for sure on the DIY solar generator I recently did. The 40A charge controller can handle up to 600W of solar and when I put the kit out to charge in clear sky mid-day sun, I routinely see output in the 180W range from the BougeRV 200W panel.

      I guess you need more high end or powerful MPPT controller to drive those panel to high appropriate wattage.

    I’m leaning towards two (2) rigid panels I’ll put my own hinges on! Will all “solar generators” self regulate input power like you showed?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Рік тому

      Yeah they all have built-in charge controllers. But they all have difference input constraints so you do want to be aware of that so you don't accidently overload the charge controller and risk damaging it.

  • @ItsoFototo
    @ItsoFototo Рік тому +1

    Thanks for the review. I'm still learning about solar panels. I thought that the rigid panels need an inverter (to connect to the Jackery battery) and the foldable ones have a built-in inverter. I guess I was wrong. So, is the inverter in the Jackery battery station?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Yes, portable power stations all have an inverter and 1 or more charge controllers built in.

      @@ReeWrayOutdoors Thanks a lot. Can I please get your opinion on FIREFLY ENERGY Solar Panel Foldable 100 Watt 12 V? It seems just as good as the Jackery Solar Saga 100 but it's half the price and it's even waterproofed

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Рік тому

      @@ItsoFototo I don't think I've seen the Firefly in a foldable design (just the flexible one designed for RV Roof mount). So can't really offer an opinion. Just be aware that if it has a USB module, it's likely not actually (fully) waterproof. And most (with or without a USB module) are not actually waterproof, but water-resistant, despite marketing claims to the contrary.

    Thanks for the video. There is so much to know about this solar energy movement that's going on these days. It all helps. Near the end of the video you spoke of the convenience of having to move just one panel if you're in a situation where you're "chasing" the sun to get the most energy. That got me wondering. What if you can't chase the sun or just don't want to? Have you ever experimented to see if a single rigid panel that was set up at the optimal angle for a mid-day sun would work more efficiently, all day, without moving, if it's sitting on its long edge or would it collect more light all day sitting on its short edge. If you haven't done an experiment like that, would you be able to point me to a resource that demonstrates the difference, if any or just express an opinion?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Рік тому +2

      Not really any difference in production between long-edge vs short-edge horizontal orientation. But if you 'chase the sun' every couple of hours to optimize alignment, that will supposedly net somewhere between 20-30% more total daily power generation (though I don't recall the article where I read that). I do plan to test that here at some point.

    Trying hard to understand all this, so I can operate a Bluetti AC300 with the B300 add on module. Ad states 2400 max solar , VOC 12-150VDC, 12A for the AC300 , but only 200 max, VOC 12-60VDC, 10A for the B300. How do I figure the highest watt, and most consistent solar panels I need? Yard receives full sunlight, no trees, all day. Buying the Bluetti seems the easiest part..🤷‍♀️

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      I'm no Bluetti expert, but taking a quick look at the specs, it's seems the B300 is basically a 'smart' battery expansion in that it CAN act on it's own as a power station, OR it can be attached to the AC300 for expanded capacity. So I think how it works in this case is IF you've got the B300 attached to the AC300, then the AC300 input specs will apply. But you do also have the option of charging the B300 separately (while in standalone mode), but then you're limited to 200W max. So given the input specs on the AC300, if you want maximum charge input, you're probably going to want to keep the B300 connected to the AC300 and then design your panels input to take advantage of the AC300's much more capable charge controller which will handle charging both units for you through the AC300. You might confirm this through their tech support, but that's how it appears to me.

    Do you know if there are any of the small/mid range (500W to 1kW) solar generators that can accept up to a 200W input? I think maybe you reviewed one recently?? But I’m not sure. Most seem to top out at 100W as you describe.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Yeah, there aren't many, it seems! I did find this 800W model from W Bluetti that says it supports up to 200W input, so that might be worth a look: www.bluettipower.com/products/eb70s-716wh-800w-portable-power-station-best-solar-generator-for-camping Also, this 500W EcoFlow seems to support it as well: us.ecoflow.com/products/river-max-portable-power-station?variant=39335175979081

      Yeah, that's how it goes! haha At some point though, you start realizing you know at least enough to be functional. :) I looked at the Ctechi 2000 and it seems to have an XT60 input for solar. So if you go Rigid or Allpowers foldable - those are both native MC4 connectors and it's pretty easy to get MC4 to XT60. Here's one that looks decent: amzn.to/3uTi1VU It's 12awg wire so, could handle up to 2 200W panels in parallel. Let me know how it goes! :)
