Actually JoeX it is a copy of the original WESTERN W-49 which cold steel also copied! I happen to own an original Western bowie and the quality is far far better than any cold steel or sycko knock-offs lol

Fun watching a knife I own get destroyed. I'm surprised that a $30 knife lasted as long as it did, and it's funny seeing that it had better handle construction than the cold steel.

a couple of years ago i had this Bowie and i payd 35 euro for it if remember good.
I did 10 blows on concrete and the knife survived..
For the price it was not bad..but i think this one dont had a heattreatment indeed.
Or maybe i Just had luck..i dont know.

A solid piece of metal. However, I think that an average machete of the same length would have been more useful for making a fire and common tasks in nature. The shape is interesting to me, but the performance is average.

The Cold Steel Jungke Machete is great. I chopped through an 8 in diameter hardwood log with mine. No chipping or rolling. It still looks brand new.

Nice test Joe, bowie didn't stand a chance. Can I ask if you would recommend the mora garberg or not, it looks like a good knife but the handle has no guard and I don't like that. Is it worth the money they ask?
i like the Garbergs, both carbon and stainless, bit more expensive than the others but good blades!

I believe the steel is 420HC. It's not completely clear what the steel type is. Mine arrived with some rust on it, so its definitely a high carbon of some sort.

Brass always deforms & rattles. Other than that it did pretty good for an "el cheapo" but they charged $30 for it which is robbery. Lol

After doing some research, SZCO either manufacturers, or distributes every single inexpensive Bowie knife on the market. The knives may have different names and manufacturers on the box, but they all come from SZCO.
