CCR was definitely Southern Rock with a heavy dose of blues mixed in. Their songs often reflected kind of a Louisiana vibe even though they were from the suburban San Francisco Bay Area.
CCR, formal El Cerrito. Calif. Right next to Berkeley. Met them in the day. My cousin Stephen drummed with them before the other Forgety joined the group. Good Times!
I love CCR....Run through the jungle is great. They have a unique sound..You always know when you hear CCR song. Thank you India for covering this. You got the meaning just right!
John Fogerty was a California kid . He took a Cali creek where he played as a kid , and made it a southern river for the song . He wrote it , played lead guitar , and sang it .
I've been swimming and fishing in the actual Green River on Mammoth Cave Kentucky back in 81 and 81, don't try to swim across though the current will pull you under in 3 seconds you'll travel the length of a foot ball field if you reaper at all. ps One of all time favorite songs you played their.
They didn't record for too long (some kind of legal thing with their record company) but they put out a whole bunch of good music in a really short time. Unique sound
They sounded like they were all from the bayou in Louisianna, but all 4 of CCR are from El Cerrito, California....16 miles Northeast of San Francisco, CA.....about 45 min from where I grew up (Pittsburg, CA)
This song should be accompanied with a video of a PBR on a river in Vietnam...M60 s on full cyclic... Brass flying all over...M2 50 s lighting up the shoreline.
Isn't this just like the music carrying over a river in balmy summer evening? It's echoing from tree trunks, partly muffled by the leaves, so you can't quite locate where it comes from, but it's somewhere down the river with many channels and banks.
CCR is one of my fav bands but they split up in the '80 with a members lawsuit or something which has been resolved. It is now John Fogerty. He still rocks a concert. I seen him last summer. I highly suggest you see him in concert if you plays near you.

My fav group ever. Very underrated CCR song here. Need to read lyrics before you listen! FOGERTY sometimes had this difficult pronunciation he seemed to do on purpose. Loved him. That voice is one of a kind. Aggressive but folksy.
Not certain about the meaning of "wonder if my ropes still hanging in the tree" ,. Now....it just hit me that this song is from a very old black perspective,as odd too some as it may sound ...a rope hanging in the tree was something as kids we swang with to splash in the water as I'm sure ninety nine percent of listeners agree that's what's meant. But for some reason my mind jumped to that and have a new perspective on the song. Not just a guy singing about his childhood but something a bit deeper and borderline spiritual in perspective.
