7:14 - 8:03 "When the Death Star was destroyed, about half of the 501st Legion was still in the hanger, getting into their ships. Of those who made it out, another third were caught in the explosion. I fought with some of those man for over 20 years. Afterwards those of us who survived hooked up with a nearby Imperial fleet making a retaliatory strike on the Rebels' base on Yavin IV. It wasn't the best thought out plan, but we were cut off from our leaders, tired, and operating on instinct. If not for our training, we probably would never got past their orbital defenses."
4:59+ gets me every time. Those french horns so brilliantly capture not only the Yoda theme but the sense of disappointment that Luke didn't stay to complete his training. Don't know how Williams does it but he just captures so much emotion with his music.
This part is so good. We haven’t seen the empire for the first thirty minutes of the film expect for the beginning and then we are reminded of the powerful empire and its theme. Classic.
Fett ✔️ Well... that’s when he was 20 years younger and not cut off largely by the Dark Side overshadowing everything. He probably could’ve made it longer of not
6:47... ...everytime chills and tears everywhere. It's always been like this, but after experiencing the loss of a dear one it acquires even more power and you truly connect with the vibes.
From France : i remember 1983...the ost single album i owned, and still have - like any STAR WARS 's fan at the time - had not this part in it...i had to wait almost 15 years to hear it at last...wich suddenly gave a dramatic new dimension to the scene as i was remember it at the time !
5:35 - 5:50 "Ironically, our punishment eventually proved to be our salvation. The poor souls who took our place in the detention area... were completely wiped out when the Death Star was destroyed." 501st Veteran narrator from Star Wars Battlefront II 2005
That sinister bit at 5:56 has always been such a standout moment in my opinion, when Yoda tells Luke "do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor, or suffer your father's fate, you will." One of the most ominous moments in the movie. That and the moment Yoda fades away. You can feel the loss of hope in the score as the wise Jedi master slowly disappears, and how a great light has left the universe.
Luke: I need your help. I've come back to complete the training. Yoda: No more training is required. Luke: Then I am a Jedi. Yoda: (laughs) Not yet. One thing remains: You must confront Vader. Then, only then a Jedi will you be.
5:01 Unfortunate you rushed to face him and incomplete was your training not ready for the burden were you. 7:43 I can't do it R2, I can't go on alone.(Luke) 8:01 Yoda will always be with you.(Obi-Wan).
Master Yoda dead at the age of 900 & Disappear in front of Luke eye's & the Force Ghost of (Ben) Obi-Wan Kenobi Reappear & told luke that Leia is his sister & that he must face his father Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker again in a lightsaber Deul on Dagobah System & Back on the Death Star/Space Station Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious arrival on Death Star/Space Station on his Shuttler where Darth Vader & Commander along side with The Galactic Empire were waiting for Lord Sidious to walk out the Shuttler & Darth sidious/Emperor Palpatine told his Appearance Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker that he must continue his seaches for Luke Skywalker & bring Luke before him & so togetheir they could turn him to the Dark Side of the Force in Return of the Jedi.
This soundtrack, and the movie it's in, is easily the best of the OT, purely due to the emotion behind every use of each piece of music. RotS I still believe is the best made movie out of all of them and its soundtrack is the best, but RotJ is without a doubt the 2nd best. I feel like ESB is kind of overrated. When I say overrated, I don't mean it's not great. I just say that because it ends with nobody winning or losing, no real big battle, and it's a bunch of chasing. I can't deny that the Han Solo/Leia conversations were pure gold and the movie was still amazing though.
Luke..... Luke.... When gone I am... The LAST OF THE JEDI will you be.... PASS ON WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED. Disney- Lets make Luke Skywalker a bitter, disgruntled old has been who tried to murder his nephew in his sleep!

brcshephard my favorite rendition of the theme right here - followed by the ending of R1

I always thought it was Yoda not being able to complete saying "dark side" because it sounds like "dar" then it gets cut off.
