Ooooh yes the centennial 😍 I also have the tin version, always with me ! And, yes.. the centennial Is historical correct: if you check the 1909 1st printing, Is almost the same in colours and shades.. so, we can officially Say that this version is the reproduction of the very first deck 😍
Aaah, finally a video that makes me feel good about loving the Centennial and NOT having a Vintage Deck!! 😅 I agree with you 100% - what I find is that the Centennial's coloration gives the images a more *natural* feel. In a way they look more "real" and thereby stir my imagination much better. I actually noticed this for the first time when I started "connecting the landscapes" of the cards in my imagination, like you talked about in the other videos! The Centennial landscapes look natural and real to me, so it's easier to make them come to life in my mind. Love this video - thank you! 😊💚👍
Oh, and the card stock! Thank you for commenting on that, I was really curious how the Centennial compared to the Blushing Fool. I've found that, since I've been working with the incredible Centennial card stock, I don't want to use any other, thinner decks anymore - it's like I'm spoiled for life now. 😂
Thank you so much for doing this video! I don't have a blue box or the full size commemorative centennial, but I have yellow box from between 1975-1985 (probably early 80's), and the pocket/miniature size Centennial in a tin. I love the pocket centennial because of the coloration, and also the size -- I have small hands. I think the colors make it look more vintage, and they're easier on the eyes. I also like the tin because it's more protective than a box. I like the card stock, but I think it's different than the bigger centennial, because the pocket cards have thin, extremely bendy cardstock. I love the cardstock of my vintage yellow box -- it's smooth, matte, and thicker, without being too hard to shuffle (I riffle shuffle too, unless the cards are too big, or the card stock is too thick), and I love the feeling that you described, of holding a piece of history. I have a pre-copyright deck on the way, though without a blushing fool, and I'm eager to compare the three decks. I wish I could combine the colors and size of the centennial in a tin with the cardstock of the 70's and 80's decks.
I guess I’m the odd one here. I do like both versions, however, I personally prefer the color & clarity of the blushing fool. I’m really drawn to the vibrant & pretty colors.
oh thank you for making this video. it was so nice to see these decks next to each other! I agree with you to 100% that the centennial version is the absolute best! i really love my cenntennial and use it the most! 🙏🏻✨
I like the Centennial edition too! I didn't like the yellowboxes after the mid 80s so started using the Universal Waite .(still use it today) Many people didnt like the recoloring but I did. Now that the Centennial is available, its my second favorite deck, and I recommend it to all beginners : )
I found a " blushing Fool " in a junk shop here in Ireland. Only €5. I think you would like it. It looks like it was used for many years. The sides are very dark from use and the edges are a kind of amber. I'm not sure if it's from the acid in the paper or nicotine from a smoking reader 😁.
I'm guessing the color details weren't part of the original artwork and had to be repainted for the new edition? Because so many little details were changed! The red stars (flowers? pinwheels?) on the Fool's tunic, the shadows on the Magician's tunic, the blue patch on the High Priestess' knee, etc, etc.
Can I ask how you acquired this rare blue box, purchased or given to you, I only ask for I was shopping and it seems it is extremely high priced. 😊 So, I gave up way out of my price range. I do have a box of the centennial deck, yes I love it. It is beautiful. My absolute favorite is borderless vintage by Dark Forest.
Kind of by accident, it was listed on a dutch selling site. It was priced like a Lo Scarabeo deck and I was able to pick it up in Amsterdam. I opened it and saw it was a blushing fool. I feel lucky
That is so awesome.. I found a copy on Etsy, when I realized it was not the vintage release, the store owner would not issue me a refund. So, oh well I guess I will have a copy… 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed your video, Anna! 😂 I get it, the Centennial is great in many ways 😉... but! Have you compared it to AGM-Urania’s A.E. Waite Deluxe Edition tarot (orange box with crackle back)? I’m totally in love with that deck and it shuffles like a DREAM! I just compared it to my centennial and noticed slight differences such as coloration, font and cardstock. Unfortunately, I don’t make YT videos, so I guess I’ll share my insights with you someday when we meet ☺️😘
Hi Enny! That would have been a better comparison, but I don’t own that deck and... is it still readily available? I have heard great things about the deck apart from the type font, but looks like a high quality deck!
In any case, I’m very happy with it 😁 and I admit, the centennial IS my second favorite! I’m not trying to convert you or anything 😂 but if you’re ever considering the AGM version, it’s available on www.tarot.nl/rider-waite-premium-edition/
I own the Blushing Fool, Centennial and the Tarot of A.E. Waite Premium edition. To be honest, the A.E. Waite and Centennial take equal turns in rotation - I rarely use the vintage deck.
Is it just me or does the blue box have more intense color than the vintage yellow box. I like my yellow box better but I can see why anyone would prefer the centennial. I have various facsimiles of vintage decks that I use. I can't shuffle my true vintage deck. I just love to hold it and smell it. Is that weird? 🤔
I'm with you - I prefer the Centennial over the blue box. Colour palette and cardstock. I sold my blue box and dont miss it....however I wouldn't say no to a Pam A 😁 My fav RWS is the Golden Rider for its crazy details (green eyeshadow on the Empress) and gorgeous skyscapes of pink & orange.
Random question but what kind of mog podge did you use to cover the copyright? Was it the gloss or matte type? Im thinking of doing the same to my deck :)
just got around to doing this and it went well! i used watercolour to paint it back to the original colour. the shade is a little off, but im satisfied :) thanks for the idea hehe
The Blue box is actually further from being "the original" than the centennial. Blue box was recoloured and to me its colours are too bright. I never liked the blue box.
Ooooh yes the centennial 😍 I also have the tin version, always with me !

The Centennial is by far the best RWS deck in my opinion. I love everything about it!

Centennial all the way! Thanks for the comparison video! 🌟🌟🌟
I agree but they both have a special place

I have an Albano Waite deck, and love the colors.
I love that deck too! I'm waiting for a nice vintage version to cross paths with me
I agrew with you, the Blue Box is very yellow, the colouration on the Cenntennial is beautiful, and yes, that cardstock is gorgeous
It probably means nothing, but, since the original deck was created with heavy symbolism, the colors on the deck have symbolic significance, too.
Absolutely! I'm seeing those same colours in the Centennial version too, just... muted!
@@AstralLadyTarot yes, the do look pretty

Sounds like one for #mydisheveleddecks !
Love the centennial, it’s one of my favorite decks but … Blue Box Blushing Fool is still on my wishlist. ;)
Hope you find one soon! I’ve recently used it in my Tarot Throwback videos

Yes, I believe Pixie never colored her work

I like the Golden Rider too, but don’t work with it as much. I also definitely wouldn’t say no to a Pam A haha!
I haven't seen the whole video yet but the Centennial (and the deluxe/premiere version of agn Urania) are based on Pam A!
Random question but what kind of mog podge did you use to cover the copyright? Was it the gloss or matte type? Im thinking of doing the same to my deck :)
I believe it was a dab of the gloss. But matte will work fine too, I'm sure. Good luck and let me know how it turned out!
Anna Astral Lady Tarot thank youu 😊 and will do!

@@amyyou2908 Happy it worked out!
Which one do you prefer?
Centennial!!!! ⭐
After this comparison.. Centennial.. With mod pidge 😛
Without the copyright the centennial really stands out.. But it is sad the cards got pinched a bit than original... Nobody else noticed this..
Yes everything is a tad thinner!

What level of madness to remove copyright to make it look vintage... are you crazy?
😂What does this matter to you... are you alright?
Watch the centennniall is like use sunglasses...centennial suks!!!
I love that this deck has haters
