I watched both episodes on Russel and Yogi now with yogi he is a kindred spirit .with Russel My sympathy .and for both they showed that never give up attitude there is always a way .That's what makes a real trucker .Some day i will make it there I will find a way .And one thing i see thru out all the shows is an opportunity for a company to be built that has all the equipment to deal with all these boggy areas .1 way to do it is if you can get all the drivers to pool resources to finance it or A single person to do it and be a contractor working with the government .That could be a show all by its self .

Yogi needs the same thing I put in the trucks where I work. A small toolbox with some quick connect splices from ¼ to ⅝", a few hose clamps, Phillips and straight screwdrivers, some fuses that match the truck, a few light bulbs, a small can of WD40, some extra gladhand seals, and an adjustable wrench. Our drivers don't go more than about 175 or 200 miles at max, and if they are that far it's cheaper to have a local mechanic help if they break down. But, a truck stuck because it needs a $2 quick connect splice like that? The drivers can slap one of them in.

@Outback-Truckers I am not a trucker. I fix them. I am a welder and heavy equipment mechanic at a scrapyard. Before that, I worked on coal trucks, and in mechanic shops and industrial maintenance since I was 17. I can drive truck, but I do not have a CDL. The place I work at now has 6 trucks, and 3 full time drivers and I maintain and repair the trucks and trailers. And all of the scrap handlers, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, all of the electrical, and all of the 3 phase machines that are used to process scrap. I love my job. It's never the same 2 weeks in a row.

Do you know what the paradox is??? sometimes you think you have what is strictly necessary for a minor and quick repair, and you wake up because you will have a breakdown and you need a trivial part that you just don't have with you, for this reason you have to have an open mind and to be able to make an improvisation that will help you get to the nearest repair shop...

@@leatheraccessories646 I've learned that it's better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it.

@@BubbaBearGames I believe you, taking into account the situation in Australia, but in Europe you don't need too many, there are towns and assistance centers for trucks everywhere, but even in Australia I don't think you can take another truck for a parts donor. , because you never know what can happen to you, so what do you do? do you still get a spare part for each component of the truck?
It is important to have tools, some essential parts, and ... a lot of imagination to know how to improvise

Best part about a grader is you can use the mowboard and push/swim yourself out of being stuck if you have basic instincts

Seeing those people driving in the bush to round up the cattle just made me think of John Wayne and Red Buttons in "Hatari" going after wildlife in Kenya. No fear.

Ok so I admit I know zero about towing, recovering bogged vehicles etc but wouldn't there be a mine somewhere nearby that could send a huge loader or dump truck etc that could pull all Russell's gear out? Seems risky and time consuming to do it how they did.

Not all of Australia is a mine and probably would cost way to much to do that
