I got the smaller 53 battery model a couple of weeks ago, ( it’s available in both battery sizes here in Republic of Ireland ). I have to say it’s extremely efficient , I had a Skoda Enyaq before it and though the Ioniq battery is smaller it’s got a much better real world range. I can’t wait to see summer temperature figures. The ride is very comfortable, and you quickly get used to the windows switches on centre console. It’s very well specced, has Heat pump as standard. It gets a lot of curious looks , many comparing rear to Porsche. It’s a really good value, super comfortable saloon. Well done to Hyundai
Another excellent review. I was captivated by the stunning exterior design when it was first launched in the UK and, after waiting for my current Kona EV lease to end, will be picking up my Ioniq 6 Ultimate model in less than a week.
Thanks for the time on this; great review with lots of useful detail. If you want my opinion, it’s the best looking of the bunch, and I really looking forward to getting a drive in this in the coming week or so.
To my eye this saloon is hideous. The drivetrain is proven. All they had to do was make it look good and they have failed badly. There can be no other explanation why it's not selling, won't sell, and will shortly be discontinued without a radical redesign.
Lovely review, I do enjoy your relaxed style it's not like some trying to get over excited about every little detail. The centre window switches are very useful, we had some in an old SAAB convertible and it made it possible for the passenger to open and close all windows while you concentrate on driving, especially useful when it suddenly pours down, as tends to happen in the UK.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Sean. We still have quite a few cars to drive before we get to the end of the year, so watch this space!
We recently bought tge 2024 Ionic 6. We are in Canada very cold winters which does effect range a bit. But we look at Tesla model 3 and this and we went Ionic. Love it.
@@AutoEV well, this car seems to have been received as well had hoped it would. Great review, thank you for creating, cannot wait for the twin test 😃. Be very interested to know how this also compares with the single motor EV6 in terms of feel and a day to day proposition. Currently both my most UA-cam searched cars 😎
Brilliant review, this was at the top of my replacement list for November along with the BMW i4, but having watched your review i think it`s the one for me. I do think i`ll spec the digital side mirrors though as i think it finishes off the interior and i like the more futuristic look of the car with them attached. I`ve seen the ultimate trim in the red and it just blows anything in this class away on looks as far as i`m concerned.
First of all, thank you for watching and sending such a lovely comment. I’ve just spent a week with the dual motor car with the digital mirrors, and I have to suggest that you consider them very carefully. They don’t adjust enough in my opinion and there are still flaws. Now the road test isn’t due to go out for a few weeks, but I discuss the issues with them at length in my new road test. I’d urge caution about specifying them if you need to order the car soon, otherwise wait for my new road test in a few weeks before committing.
Thanks for the advice, and i will take it and all of your experience onboard. When do you think the DSM review will be available, im not due to renew until November.
Thanks from Denmark for your review of the car. It just make me more sure that I have made the right choice for getting the Hyundai Ioniq 6 instead of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6. The Tesla 3 or Model Y was taken out of my equation very early. :-). The only problem I have is the delivery time. 2 month if i´m lucky.
Ive used them in the Ioniq 5. My view is that they aren't really for me. They are better than the Audi ones because the screens are in a better position, but the cameras are still mounted on long stalks where the mirror should be, so that catches your eye first. Honda does it best on the little Honda e as the cameras are mounted on the doors and you can't see them, so you immediately look at the screens. Hyundai charge £995 for it, and its not worth it in my opinion. If they had it fitted as standard, they are usable, but I wouldn't pay extra for them.
I have the cameras in Australia. I got used to them pretty quickly. They have good resolution and colour. They don’t seem to be affected by rain, staying clear. They change their magnification when parking ( still experimenting with that ). They are closer to your straight ahead position than mirrors.
Westlife? Westlife? Westlife??? At least you could have suggested Coldplay, Genesis, perhaps in that it is polished, professional, and not a dodgy cover. OK, apart from your moment of madness, another excellent show, and a fascinating EVehicle.
Why in the world do manufactures put these 20 inch wheels on EVs? They rob power and range, make the ride worse, and make your wheels more susceptible to damage. And they don’t to seem to offer any handling benefit. I don’t think they look any better either.
Beautiful car, perfect for bland (no surprises, normalcy all around) motorway driving. For fun driving, Polestar 2 or BMW i4. One thing though: other reviewers have had issues with Ioniq 6's infotainment system: does it have lag? how convoluted actually is?
anytime someone mentions younger buyers id really like to know what that means. because id like to see most 18 year old kids coming right out of highschool who are looking for a car to be able to afford a $50k+ car. I love the review but goddamn this is hard to justify for anyone reasonable with such a price.
I think (and I am speaking about my own reference here) it means "younger buyers than the brand would normally attract". I don't think Hyundai would be offended if I said that if you were to look at the average age of a typical Hyundai owner (certainly in the UK) then it would be much higher than say a BMW or Tesla owner average, perhaps 55 y/o and up. The Ioniq 5, 6 and newer models are tasked with bringing that average age down to compete with those manufacturers who appeal to a younger audience, say 30-40 y/o's who wouldn't have considered a Hyundai before. Does that makes sense? Anyway, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Buying any EV now will be a big mistake, we have a lot of new battery tech on the way and some will double the range. They will also have much shorter charge times so why be stuck with some older tech that no one will buy. If your EV has 400 to 600 miles of range you can always charge at home and save a lot of money. With EVs it's all about range and price and none of them have both. Some have OK range but the cost is high, with others it's reversed.
Now or later, an EV will only make sense if you can charge at home and preferably WITH solar panels. If you have to charge at public chargers all the time, electric driving isn't cheap at all and prices are often non-transparent. Now, when I write this, we are 1 year after this review. Electricity prices everywhere went up continuously, the majority of inner city people don't even have the option of charging at home. So, imho, EV's will certainly at one point take their fair share of the (non corporate) market, but that's how it will stay...
Also thank god for asking to like the video if we like it, so annoying to say "like the video" at the start, NO! Only as annoying as tell me IN THE COMMENTS Thank god that's clarified, I'll put my quill and ink away
Not to insult your age but I think that Hyundai has targeted their current three EVs at 3 different generations of people. This is the Boomer car, the kind of people that will say "hey I am just going for a drive" and go do it for no reason. The ioniq 5 with its 80s inspired design is really hitting Gen X nostalgia and it has the practibility for taking teenagers to soccer practise. Then the Kona, especially the redesign is for Gen Y/Millenialls. Affordableish, great for young children, with a future focused design.
Agreed. Looks like a great car for the right people but the Ionic 5 is also a great car for the right people. Large family, Kids and grand children, luggage plus towing a caravan. The Ionic 5 is a much more practical option. Ours arrives next month.

I am looking into the 53 kwh model. Do you feel the 160HP is enough? What kind daily milage are you doing?

An absolutely beautiful saloon. Nothing further to add.
Add 12 -18 months delivery!

As an American I can't take saloon seriously. It's what we call old west bars.
Thanks for the review. I am planning a test drive now!.
You should! It really is a superb car. Do let us know your thoughts, and as always, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Thank you, a fantastic review - A first edition is on order and can't wait!
Great choice Pete. I hope you enjoy it when it arrives.
Fantastic Review Bryan. What a Car , got a feeling this will be in you're end of year best of maybe taking top prize ? We will have to wait and see.

I’ve literally just ordered one today!
I got mine 3 weeks ago, it's been great so far.
Ordered one couple weeks ago , Nocturne Matte grey colour looks epic
Great review of a nice looking vehicle
Been keeping an eye out for this one. Saving for later with a cup of tea and a biscuit 😃
GET THE KETTLE ON!!!!!

I’ll love to see your review on BYD Seal when/if it comes to market
I'd love to get our hands on the BYD Seal. I also wonder if we will see the MG 7 in the UK too?

It’s a beautiful car. Would have liked to have seen your impression of the camera wing mirrors.

Thanks for your responses. My concern would be weather. The Polestar 4 is going to be interesting!
Great review …thank you.
Am with you on Polestar 2 vs Ioniq 6. Both are highly desirable.
Maybe I missed it as I fast forwarded through parts but there was no description on the efficiency
Please can you do a comparison between ionic 6, BYD Seal, single motor top trim 🙏
Great review! MyFirst Edition should be here within the next few days…
You won't be disappointed!
Looks very nice. Question: Does the sun roof open?
Yes, it does. Currently have an Ioniq 6 AWD on test and so will be bringing another review of that car to the channel soon.
Like the colour coded water bottle
Good honest review ! Don't think any new cars these days are in the reach of the average paid worker !
They rarely ever were, especially something at the top end of a manufacturer's line-up.
Most people buy second hand, ex-fleet.

I am in two minds too , Ionia 6 or EV6 …. Ready to place an order but still can’t decide.
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL

2 WEEKS LEFT FOR MY DERLIVERY 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Wow, bet you are excited! Do let us know how you get on with it.
Have look on Indian EV industry special TATA and Mahindra ev line-up
It would look much better without the small spoiler
Great EV
Good video however I think you need to start taking a bit more water with it. LOL
Way better than the Polestar

A car that had been made for style just like the Kia EV6, unfortunately hopeless for us taller people.
