  • I've made an Airless Tire like Michelin UPTIS, using windshield sealant
    • I've made an Airless ...
After Michelin revealed the Demonstration of this new Airless Wheel Technology, I made my own Airless tire.
In my first attempt to make a car tire out of silicone, I used 40 cartridges of acrylic sealant, and the experiment failed :))
In the second attempt, I used a windshield sealant, one cartridge cost 9.99$, and I've used 43.
If you wonder why I did this, the answer is just for fun.
In the first attempt to make a tire, I put the Acryl on the rim in 2 hours.
In the second attempt, I put just 2 cartridges a day it took 20 days to put the silicon on the rim and another one month to let it dry.

An idea similar to this might be good for spare tires. So you don't have to worry about checking the air pressure in the spare and then if you forget to check it, you aren't surprised the spare is flat when you need it most.

C’mon man, he knocked it up using ‘black acrylic’ I have just seen the Michelin test, now if you were to do a more precise job using a more measured approach, then this could seriously work, for someone, just ‘having a go’ I am amazed, as far as the comments of it not being round enough, just think of the increased contact patch. Get a tread pattern bonded to it and you have a winner I am massively impressed by this even working. I mean a burnout and it didn’t fly apart!

Maybe an idea to design a 3D printing program for this to save yourself time if you'd ever go big market with this one. This thing you are calling airless tyre is in fact a solid tyre, and it is at least a 100 years old idea.

I believe they did it in cross patterns to allow air bubbles for cushion...which makes it technically not airless or solid....the Michelin tires are technically solid since there is no sidewalls to trap the air

Well, isn't a solid tire airless?

Booger Eater there will be sidewalls they just did that so you can see how it works because if there wasn’t sidewalls rocks and ice and other thing would get in there

@@Riley_Edgar25 but if it's sealed then it's not really airless, the air just isn't compressed

Booger Eater I think the idea of it is that you won’t have to fill with air ever
