Imam Hussain a.s had rejected Yazid's demand for giving oath of allegiance to him, Yazid was a highly corrupt tyrant ruler, and he had ordered his representative government in Madina to either take oath from him or take his life, Imam Hussain a.s to protect the sanctity of the holy city left the city and first he performed Hajj in Makkah but there too sensed the killers hiding in Ahram (special clothing uses for performing hajj) so he decided to leave Makkah as well and moved towards Kufa, but he was stopped by the enemy army's division who not only didn't allow him to go towards Kofa, but also to not back to his city, Imam Hussain and his family members camped near the canal from Euphrates river, but the army objected and asked them to shift them far away from the canal, their demand was to give oath of allegiance to yazid, or else he will be killed, and to further pressurize him He and his family was stopped to take water from the Euphrates canal, but with in 4 days all the water was gone they remained thirsty for three days and on the day of Ashura the 10th day of Moharram month he was brutally killed but before him his brother and his 18 years old son Ali Akbar was killed and when he brought his 6 months old son Ali Asghar, thinking the soldiers might provide him the water that he may survive however the soldiers didn't respond to his request, he then put the 6 months old on the ground saying if you think I am going to drink water you will provide for him, just come and feed him with water by yourself, but seeing they are not responding his request picked Ali Asghar again and then the 6 months old kid opened his mouth and showed his tongue that was completely dry and seeing this many of the enemies army burst into tears, Umar ibne Saad the general of enemy army ordered his one archer Hurmula to shoot him with an arrow, the poor kid got an arrow on his neck and died immediately, at last Imam Hussain was attacked btally injured and when he was still alive beheaded him this all while he was still a three days thirsty, after Imam Hussain a,s was killed the soldiers attacked and looted the camps where women and children were present, then the put the camps on fire Shimr the soldier who beheaded Imam Hussain, saw a 4 years old daughter of Imam Hussain running terrifyingly, he noticed her earrings and to snatched them he didn't bother opening them rather he pulled them so powerfully that the earrings tore her earlobes and the blood from her ears were all soaking her shirt the next day all the captives were marched towards the Caliphate in Damascus through Kufa
