Thanks again Peter. Epoxy Clay gives me another product to add interest to my mosaics. As always your demonstration was very in-depth. ENJOY your demos.
Thankyou so much Eric really appreciate that. :)
You've given me some new tools and confidence to tackle a mosaic piece recovering a small bird bath. Thank you so much.
Thankyou so much, appreciate that. :)
Thank you. I’m learning so many valuable tips and tricks from you!
Thankyou very much glad the videos are helping you. :)
Great video giving lots of options for using Apoxy Sculpt! Thank you!
Thankyou so much JC appreciate it.
exactly what I was looking for, thank you for your great videos
My pleasure Susie glad the video helped you. :)
I love AS! I've made mosaic earrings and necklace pendants with it. And once I used it to adhere a hook onto an MDF shape that didn't have a keyhole to hang.
Thanks for the great video Peter! (Karen Valentine on FB)
Thankyou so much Karen, yes its very versatile and also good for using in molds as well especially if you are after something thats outdoor durable. :)
Thanks Peter ( I always hope everyone using these products adhere to the safety data information
Thanks Kathy, so true I hope they adhere to the SDS on all products. Thanks for watching. :)
Peter, you are so generous with your knowledge and expertise, also your time. Thank you, it is so appreciated. Sherie Rodrigues
Thankyou so much Sherie, appreciate that and thankyou for watching. :)
@@TreasuryRoad 🤩
Another great video; I'm confident now in using epoxy clay. Thank you.
Thankyou so much, enjoy and dont forget to read the MSDS on it like any new product if you haven't used it before. :)
@@TreasuryRoad, Hi Peter, what is MSDS?
@@mozhdehnouripayam9470 Hi Mozhdeh they are material safety data sheets also known as sds safety data sheets. They contain all the necessary safety precautions that you need to take and also other relavent safety information, they are so easy to read but a good habit to read before buying any products that contain chemicals. 😊
Would have liked to seen your finished project of the bird. Thanks Peter!
Thankyou, the bird was never meant to be finished, it was just used as a sample. However l did end up and finish it in a video which l created using ball chain and beads on this channel. 😊
My friend I believe theres Epoxy sculpt and Epoxy clay the clay is more for sculptures and softer.
I love the video on sculpt within the heart you made.
So your using it as adhesive here?
I love the being you added.
So creative.Love your Accent.
Thanks for sharing 🧡
Thankyou very much, appreciate that, if you are referring to Apoxie Sculpt the one that I use it is used for sculpting and it does have terrific adhesive adhesive qualities. :)
Thank you! 🐢🌮
My pleasure Kathie and thankyou for watching. :)
Thanks for your videos, they are always informative. Do you know if you can add colour to the epoxy? Using paint for instance?
The Epoxy Clay does come in different colours. Apparently dry powder pigments works and also acrylic paint, you would need to do a test as I have tinted it before but have read a few articles of Taxidermy's doing it, also the shade will change from freshly tinting it to when its cured. :)
Thanks for all your videos, Peter. Is Apoxie neutral-curing? I was wanting to use it to adhere some mirrored glass to brick and mortar (via fibreglass mesh) in an outdoor setting, then grout with Litokol translucent grout.
Thankyou so much Paula. That's a good question, I have been using Apoxie Sculpt for years with mirror without any issues. Sharra Frank is a well known artist and she has also been using it with mirror also successfully. I don't have any technical data to say if its its neutral curing or not so I cannot guarantee it. :)
@@TreasuryRoad Thanks heaps, appreciate the info!
Thank you for this detailed video. Hmmm. Is there a safer version of this stuff? Something that is friendlier to my health?
Thankyou very much. The simple answer is no, most products contain some type of chemicals. This is why it’s a good idea to read the safety data sheets to protect your health so you can take the necessary safety precautions. This will limit the exposure down, like any product it’s knowing what you are dealing with and using the product safely. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😊
If using the apoxy sculpt to apply beads, so you scrape out the bits in between the beads so the grout will apply to the substrate?
When you embed the beads into the AS you are only embedding them part way. The AS shouldn’t go to the very top, this way you will avoid a lot of cleaning up. If you happen to get the AS to the top then you will need to scrape it away and wipe the beads over with water to take away any of its residue. How far you embed the beads is realative to the size of the beads. 😊
Thanks Peter, it was very informative.
In the video you are using Apoxie Sculp but video name is Epoxy Clay.
My naive question, Apoxie is the same as Epoxy ?
And Apoxie or Epoxy Clay is the same as Apoxie Sculp? Do both have adhesive feature?
Can they be used outdoor?
Thanks so much for your time answering questions ☺️☺️
Thankyou, it is a little confusing Aves make Apoxie Clay and Apoxie Sculpt but people sometimes use epoxy clay which is spelt differently as a general term. In this video l am referring to Aves Apoxie Sculpt and l will change the wording to avoid confusion. 😊
Hi Peter I bought some Epoxie Resin adhesive from Oz Mosaics thinking it was this but maybe another brand. But it’s a honey consistency. No way could I roll it out into a sausage. It’s like tar.
Hi Annette, I haven't used that one, if you're not sure where or how to use it, just give them a call, I'm sure it will come in handy. The brand I generally use is Aves Apoxie Sculpt and is widely available to buy on line here in Australia. Thankyou for watching. :)
Hi Peter - could this be used to adhere mosaics to a metal substrate and if not what adhesive would you recommend to attach glass mosaic pieces to a metal substrate
I answered this in a your previous comment. 😊
If I use Apoxie Sculpt---do I still have to use grout???? I am new to this and I used some Permacolor NS for the grouting AND it turned out to be a terrible mess. But I am just new to it. I want to use something like this Apoxie Sculpt. Is the Apoxy Sculpt JUST for adhesive or for grout??? tk u K
Apoxie Sculpt is used as a adhesive not for grouting. :)
Question: I used Apoxy Sculpt and put flat filati in it, and it's been about 6 months and suddenly the filati is coming out. Any idea why? I also tried putting it on stainless steel and the circular piece of metal came off the back of it a while later.
There are so many reasons why this has happened and without knowing a lot more it could be any number of them. It could be that the AS wasn't mixed thoroughly, or the Filati wasn't embedded enough into the AS, you exceeded the amount of time to best work with AS for its stickiness, residue on the stainless steel, etc.
I can’t find the link to the types of gloves you use, please advise
The link is in the description box of this video, its a link to my Amazon store. :)
Do you have to grout after using the apoxy sculpt?
I can’t speak specifically about your project. It really comes down to the project you are doing, how you are using it and the look you are after. If everything is fine and you’re happy not to grout on your project then you don’t have to. Thanks for watching. 😊
can I use that ApoXie clay to make Jewelry?
It depends on the type of jewellery, if you are talking about using it in bezels, my favourite is Apoxie Sculpt for that. If you are creating assemblage jewellery then you are better off with E6000. Although its toxic its still the best to use in assemblage so take the necessary safety precautions. :)
Does this Epoxy sculpt adhere to concrete or thinset?
Generally speaking I have used it on concrete and thinset, here's a UA-cam video of me using it on the center of a concrete stepping stone that I made. I always advise to do a test first to make sure because there are always variables in everyone's projects. Thanks for commenting. :)
How long does it take to dry?
The Apoxie Sculpt generally cures in 24hrs. :)
Can you grout over epoxy clay?
Generally the sanded grout will wipe straight off the Apoxie Sculpt, I always clear the grout lines, I would think it may happen to all the different brands however testing would be required. :)
Thank you for the video, how do you store the leftover clay for future use?
Thankyou and my pleasure. You dont if you mix parts A and B together, the chemical reaction begins and theres no turning back, it's very much different to ceramic clay, whatever you have left over after being mixed that you dont use will go rock hard. :)
@@TreasuryRoad thank you
I’ve used Apoxie Sculpt for a while now and I hated throwing away the excess I had mixed up. A friend suggested I buy some silicone molds and put the excess in the molds. (The mold I bought was flowers) Now I can use them as tesserae in my mosaics! (I paint them)
@@pattyw442 great idea, thanks😁
@@pattyw442 It does saving throwing it out, using it in molds works well as the pieces are outdoor durable, Ive done that a few times and used a heart mold that had flowers embossed in it then added it into a mosaic, I think I may have also used Mica powder on one of them. :)
What is the name of the gloves that you use?
They are awesome gloves and l use them more than once. The link is in the description of this video just click on show more under the video. It’s a link to my Amazon store. 😊
@@TreasuryRoad thanks!
Hi Peter, where can we get safety solvent?
It depends which country you're in, its a product from AVES, they may have a distributor list on their website but most places that sell Apoxie Sculpt or AVES products will probably sell it. :)
@@TreasuryRoad I'm in AU, NSW
@@mozhdehnouripayam9470 Ahh I thought you may have been but wasn't certain so I assume everyone could be overseas. :)
Why is it so dangerous to use without gloves ?
Your body may become sensatized to Epoxy Clays over time and theres no turning back, you are also working with chemicals so its important to wear gloves as per the MSDS which also should be read before buying or using. :)
Oh come on with the gloves and PPE!
Its your health and your choice if you don't want to use them.
