He just sounds too English and with a very bad cold singing a version of the song that was robbed of its true spirit. She just sounds like a Closet Queen trying very hard to sound straight while singing a Madonna ballad.

Beautiful rendition, but it was weird to go from ambient "vlog" style sound in the intro to full studio sound and playback. Like, yeah, no one wants to hear karaoke, but I couldn't' get over the switch from "authentic and intimate" to "LIPSYNC FOR YOUR LIIIIFE"

I swear to god hearing him sing in a more formal style like this is so scary when you know what he actually acts like-
In the era od COVId, the prerecording was a necessity to get an orchestra behind him with the proper acoustics. Broadway is still social distancing, as it should. That being said, Powell's rendition ranks on a par with Salonga (a high compliment). He has the most beautiful male voice of our time.

So the recording quality and microphone mixing changed instantly and dramatically when he started singing? Ha - anyone who can't see through this performance being "live" is easily fooled. Especially so given the way he is leaning over and contracting his diaphragm.
His voice is amazing, but this performance is ruined by the horrible musical arrangement. A simple piano accompaniment, or no accompaniment at all would have been better.

I have been in choirs most of my adolescence , and i am getting PTSD flashbacks of times back then when choir masters will scold us for hunching our backs and not standing/sitting straight.
