Nothing wrong with crying. This anime can be applied to the real world easily. The ones who have it worse are those who are given months to live and there is nothing to be done. When I realized this is when I started to shed tears.

this show has a special place in my heart. i really love the soundtrack and the concept of ai living among humans, since it seems to be creeping into our reality now. the problems faced in the show seem to be very real ones that could exist in the future. not one for romance but this one was touching and admittedly it made me cry the first time i saw it

There was a good period of time when Plastic Memories was my favorite anime of all time. Its been almost 4 years since then, but it's still one of my favorites and the OST still makes me tear up every time I hear it. I've purposely avoided rewatching this anime for 2 or 3 years now because, although I obviously know how it ends, the final episode is absolutely gut wrenching no matter what. I could skip the first 12 episodes and watch the 13th raw even after 3 years and still cry like a baby during it... which is exactly why I haven't done that lol.
What makes this anime beautiful is the deep meaning it has. Imagine being a person who was told they have a limited time to live. How would you react? Sadly, some people don't have to imagine that. They get months to live before their life comes to an end. The time they have to create memories come to an end. The best part, as well as the most tragic one, is they depict children as giftias as well. Think of all the children who are diagnosed with a terminal disease, given months if not weeks to live. To me this is my favorite anime and I'm a dude. It became the best because of the way it can easily be applied to real world scenarios. Hard to admit as its seen as a romantic anime, but the way it touches on reality is hard to ignore. Hopefully one day they give us another season. Not with the two characters living happily ever after. Another season where Isla starts to work as a retriever, from the very beginning. Or maybe rewrite the original one with more episodes. Give the two main characters more time to fall in love. Give us, the viewer, more time to enjoy as they slowly fall for one another. But it should still end the same way. That ending it just to powerful to change it. The ending will hit harder after seeing them together in more episodes slowly building their bond until it's time to erase her memories.

As far i know, there wont be any 2nd season. BUT, if you want happy ending you can read visual novel, they have 3 ending in there.

I was really emotional when I watched this a while back... cried literally every episode. It got to the point where I went through two boxes of tissues. One day my friend visited my room and saw my wastepaper basket filled with the used tissues and said "Bro, you need to calm down and get yourself a girlfriend". I couldn't tell him it was because I was crying to this anime

The pacing of this show is superb.
Watched this a couple days ago. Havent cried like this in about 10 years when my pet died. I dont think I'll ever rewatch this though. Partly, because i dont feel like going through that pain again. On the other hand, because i don't want to grow numb to the emotion and feel nothing after repeated rewatch. I'll just keep it in my memory. I think thats what Isla would want me to do frfr
