George this was awesome. I loved you narrating your finds and explaining the provenance when you can. It is the best learning environment. It is quiet without any distractions. I look forward to future videos. 😊
Hi George and thank you for bringing all the Back stories on the various items you showed in this video the sterling silver is gorgeous and Tom Selleck will always be handsome; have a great day.
I wish I had bid on those diaries! What a rare find! I wasn't focusing and I missed those. I am a writer and a teacher and those would have made for great book or play source material. Plus, the middle east is very important to me. Darn.
I just found you a few days ago and I've been watching your videos. I appreciate your knowledge of antiques and taking the time to make it interesting.
Would have loved to have had a sterling silver service for 12…also liked the Stein & the info you provided…also liked the fancy magnifying glass…thanks for the info
@@TheAntiqueNomad I thought that Americans in particular were quite litigious about their images and persona but that said they would be unlikely to kick up a fuss about being in the company of a top boxer and top superhero it would seem mean spirited
George, I think I have one of those Kaleem, from Iran, but neither half is stuffed… next time you are in the Seattle area if you are interested I could show it to you…
Hi, George! Full disclosure, I'm not done with the video yet, but the thing you said about the china red glaze being low temperature fired/easily scratched/etcetera; do you know if that's true of all red glazes? I had heard something similar about red Asian glazes, and that was part of the reason it was difficult to do both a red and blue glaze (underglaze, specifically maybe?). Now that I'm really thinking about it I'm wondering what I'm misremembering and misquoting... Hahaha
My grandmother modeled hats and she had one of those.
I love the way you integrate personal stories and history. You are a great storyteller!
Oh, thank you! I want to try to make it relatable
Flojoe274, did she share any interesting anecdotes about her hat-modeling days?

Thank you, Trina! I really enjoy getting to do a video this way, it's you members who make it possible
I read Animal Farm in English middle school . At the time I remember thinking it was an odd story but then I was 14
That's the year we were made to read it too
Absolute *SWOON* on that magnifying glass!
Cool, huh?
@@TheAntiqueNomad Absolutely. Never seen a repurposed parasol hand before. Very neat.
I met Sergio Aragonés at our local comic con. So interesting to hear about his time at MAD magazine.
I'm jealous! He was one of my favorites. I never got to meet anyone from MAD in that era, but I sure consumed their product
@@TheAntiqueNomad He's still alive. We'll have to see if he'll be making any appearances.
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Hi George and thank you for bringing all the Back stories on the various items you showed in this video the sterling silver is gorgeous and Tom Selleck will always be handsome; have a great day.
Tom gets better looking as he ages, IMHO, of course.
Glad you enjoyed it ;)
Very nice George.
That parlor game was awesome. I never knew of those..thank you. Hope you have a great week. 💜💗💜
You too! I thought the game was cool
David bowie wrote a soundtrack for the play 1984, George Orwell s 1984,,that fell through,,but it's my favorite album from Bowie! Diamond dogs
Oh yes! It is very good
Loved your description of the parlor!
I only recently got a clearer view during a house tour of why it was important
George Thank-you!😊 that was so nice seeing all those wonderful things. Along with all you knowledge.😍
So nice of you, I wanted to show something different!
Thank you so much for giving us a chance at such cool things!
I'm so glad! I like to share some of my best with my viewers
Great educational video! Really a great start to my Sunda while enjoying my coffee.
Terrific! Have a good morning
I always learn a lot from George’s videos. Thank you sir!
Thank you too!

I'm so sorry! I do have another diary but I think it relates to earlier Chinese Missionary days. I thought I might put that on next month
I just found you a few days ago and I've been watching your videos. I appreciate your knowledge of antiques and taking the time to make it interesting.
Thank you, Rob! I'm really glad you found my channel. I want people to connect to these things and each other through the shared experience of them.
Seagulls sure do get around! I saw a flock of them in the McDonald’s parking lot in Bozeman Montana! Had to do a double take cuz it was so unexpected!
Hay Jan, my son and I go feed the seagulls sometimes here in Wisconsin and they hang around in Mc Donalds lot here too. Sometimes Wal-Mart lot also.
@@mjmj2860 - yeah Wisconsin has one of the Great Lakes, right? But Montana is land locked, which is why I was so surprised!
Interesting! Haven't seen them there yet
Oh how I would have loved to read those books (travel diaries)
They were really interesting!
Would have loved to have had a sterling silver service for 12…also liked the Stein & the info you provided…also liked the fancy magnifying glass…thanks for the info
I'm glad you enjoyed this selection, I was happy to find some different things
I would never have guessed those were salt dips! No charge for antique schmutz! Wow, awesome game! Oh my, sterling silver in the dishwasher? Who knew!
Hi, Cass! I'm sure you could also make an oyster shooter or pate on one
@@TheAntiqueNomad I'm sure i could but I like knowing what items were originally intended for according to the maker. So, thanks!
Geez, 3 dollars for 1st edition Animal Farm... amazing deal.
Yes, it was a big surprise in an unlikely time and place!
Love the seagull dishes
I’m surprised they could get away with naming celebs on that cover - I doubt they would have asked permission!
I think they chose people in the public eye enough that they were considered complicit in their fame. American law is like that
@@TheAntiqueNomad I thought that Americans in particular were quite litigious about their images and persona but that said they would be unlikely to kick up a fuss about being in the company of a top boxer and top superhero it would seem mean spirited
FYI, the link for the Hall piece is incorrect. It links to the cloche. I always learn so much from your videos!
Oh thank you! Sorry about that
I hope a writer buys that womans journals and writes a book / movie about her adventures.
That would be great!
Wonderful.
Thank you!
Hi Well I never read Animal Farm Will put on my list
It's interesting and ominous
The sliver flat ware omg!!! You got any more!!!!
I just got a set of International Sterling today in the Angelique pattern
George, I think I have one of those Kaleem, from Iran, but neither half is stuffed… next time you are in the Seattle area if you are interested I could show it to you…
Would love to see it
George, another stellar presentation.
One question: does your brain ever hurt from all of the knowledge packed into it?
Lol no but sometimes important things like "where are the car keys" disappear for awhile
@@TheAntiqueNomad lol
George do you remember what Oscar Wilde said,,,that wallpaper has to go or I will,or is it George Orwell animal farm that said humans bad animals good
Lol I had forgotten the Oscar Wilde quote
Thanks for showing some silverware!
Silverware is an interesting field!

I feel it's true of all reds from what I've been told by ceramicists.
@@TheAntiqueNomad thanks, George!
21:45 DON'T LEAN IT !!!!! LAY IT FLAT ,,,,,,lol
Well that's true, I was wanting camera effect but it isn't really good to stand magazines up like that
speaking of re-purposing, i am wondering what will become of all the pretty and fun face masks we are all wearing during the pandemic. maybe quilting?
That's funny, I have visions of us throwing them away with glee at future estate sales but repurposing will be better
I’m coming to visit I live in Kentucky
Oh please do!
🥰😘🤗
I'm so glad you got Animal Farm! I thought it might be up your alley but somehow thought you already had it
Great meeting you and learning from you. Sharon and Will @the_mod_stop and @workbench_antiques_and_salvage
Thanks! I really enjoyed meeting you too, hope to see you again
