I tried doing sales for one of these walk in tub companies. I won't say which one. They start out telling you it might be covered by Medicare when they know full well it is not. Next, they send out a salesman that is supposed to spend 3 or 4 hours going over a presentation with you. The quote finally comes in at 25k on payments of course. If you say no, they tell you they have last years model for 15k which most people will go for at that time. If you still say no, they can keep dropping the price down close to 10k, but the salesman makes nearly nothing. It's a racket. I've seen them for around 3k at Home Depot, etc., plus you still need to install it. I only made one sale and financing fell through. Total waste of time for me. Never felt good about their system either. They suck you into the sales position before you find out the process or pricing. They just promise you big money. It's high turnover.

Great bathroom. Just can’t understand why they don’t make it standard for the door to swing out instead of in on those tubs. Seems hard on an elderly persons legs to have to twist to bypass the door when closing it.
Thank you. They all swing in because they use the weight of the water to seal the door tighter and it makes it impossible to open with a full tub even if you try. But you are correct, it is a little tricky and you have to swing your legs to allow the door to open which can be difficult if the person doesn't have full mobility.
What is the name of this walk-in bathtub?! I don't know how to install it, but need 2 for my senior parents. I'm a caregiver with sclerosis and is so difficult to find someone to install one.
It's ended up being really amazing. For it's intended use its great but it's also like having a Japanese soaking tub. One tip is to always leave the door unlatched when not in use. This keeps the door gasket expanded and in the best shape. No leaks at all from the door and this unit even has a secondary drain in case a little comes out. Totally water tight in my install. Great job. I like these tubs but I’m squeamish about electricity so close to water. How safe are these tubs 🛁 with respect to the possibility of being shocked ?
Hi, I love your channel, I am trying to get one of these. I am wondering if you wanted to stand up and shower like normal everyday, in a hurry, can the shower head be mounted ?
Thank you very much. Yes you can definitely do that since the shower is just hose mounted and there are many holders that can be wall mounted. That way you can go back and forth as needed.
I installed this with my wife, and the tub itself was not hard at all. But the it was almost a perfect fit which made it VERY challenging to get into there but our marriage survived and the bathroom looks good.
@@SilverCymbal lol....thanks for your prompt reply! My husband and I are a pretty good team when it comes to DIY projects. I think it's the electrical that intimidates me and I just might opt for a soaking ONLY walk in tub to avoid any electrical hiccups. Thanks again for your video and reply.
@@mariemyers6747 You can always have an electrician wire it for you, and its not bad at all. Mine only needs a 15a regular circuit so it's nothing special. It was all worth it in the end. That bathroom in the video when it was all done cost me just over $1000, including flooring, tub, sink and paint. I think if I Had paid someone else I would have paid upwards of 15k. Insanity!
I keep seeing these tubs advertised and being sent advertisements for them in the mail but they honestly look like they have a cramped interior. I suspect the door would probably leak. Further when I look at video demos of them, they never tell you how to get out of them and it looks as if you'd have to wait until the tub fully drains before you could get the door open. I don't like the thought of being trapped like that. It's probably why people that own them re-sell them. I don't think you'd need one anyway. My grandma just bought a bath seat, which many companies make for elderly and disabled people. They're very sturdy and you simply sit on the edge of the tub and turn your butt to spin around and get into the tub and then can sit on the tub seat. I've got one from Rubbermaid and love mine. My disabled great grandma had one too and she used a wheelchair and was able to slide from her wheelchair onto the tub seat to take a shower. They had an ordinary bathtub in their house and the bath seat was made of plastic with a metal frame and was very sturdy and spanned the width of the tub inside. Mine from Rubbermaid brand is all made from plastic but is very sturdy. I've it had it 15 years now.
I looked up the shower seats and I saw that some styles are called "tub transfer seats". Those are the kind best used by someone in a wheelchair or that has limited mobility that has difficulty getting into a bath and they extend over the edge of the tub. They're not too expensive and many are less than $60. Check out medical supply stores. Even Goodwill has a Medical Supply store where you can get like-new items for a great price. They always had many bath seats there for less than $20. I also high recommend the Gator Grip tub mats. They are the best non-slip tub mats. You can buy them from their website if you can't find them anywhere local to buy them. They are so much better and safer than the suction cup type mats and line the entire bottom of your tub. A good bath seat and Gator Grip mat is a more affordable option to be able to use your existing tub.
This isn’t a “very small” bathroom as you keep referring to. If this is, I’d like to see what you call a normal size bathroom. The typical four bedroom house has 2 1/2 baths. 5x8 is the typical (average) size full bath. Anything bigger is a luxury bath.
One trick I always did is to never leave the door closed and latched when not in use. The one in the video was 12+ years old and didn't leak at all, not sure if that helps
They have been out for a while. Search on "walk in baththub" walkin tub there are many of them for sale all the time. Most people selling them try to ask thousands but never get those prices, keep an eye on them and when the ad gets old make a low offer like I did and they will take it. Still working great till this day.
A great deal for $300. But 10 grand? I don't think so. That like the upper end. Still, $6-7k is what the small walk ins go for if you want all the bells and whistles. For a full size bathroom just buy a regular tub and a walk in kit. When you buy a pre-made walk in you get hit with multiple retail penalties. Niche product, limited selection, stuck with whatever features and markup the mfg has decreed.
Hi, did you have to crack the floor open to accomodate the plumbing. I'm looking at the same project in a house with a slab foundation and a contractor said I would probably have to break through the foundation to install plumbing for the jets. Didn't make sense to me. I'm replacing a standard tub
I thought that as well and one person I spoke said that theirs did. Either way in my case no one was paying for me, so I was thrilled to get the deal on Craiglist for this used one. I am very pleased with bow it came out and would recommend doing the same if you want obe of these tubs. Most folks selling them almost give them away. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
The reason it was available is that everyone removes them from their bathroom after their live-in grandmother dies. Stinks you gotta wait for the water to empty before you exit the tub.
That is true, some never get used at all, in prep for someone to come home from the hospital and plans change. The good thing is the drain is pretty fast, the filling it takes much longer.
@@mrrobvs If they did, they most certainly enjoyed their last moments with the LED lightning and aromatherapy module. Just remember every toilet you use and spouse you meet had someone else there before you. Life isn't sterile.
You want to upgrade our house? This is one way to do it. I don’t feel safe anymore! Taking showers, I’m scared to death of falling, and that stupid ass soap dish just crying out for me to crack my skull on. This is why I don’t bathe as often as I would like. I would love something like this! I’m scared every time I get in the shower. This is not right! Plus I would love and need the hydrotherapy for my back. It certainly would help me sleep and I could be clean too! I know we need a new roof and I want that to get done, so we can scratch the motherfucker off the list, I’m tired of hearing about it! Just do it! Love, J.😊
Two different ways some are held in with springs, you can pry them with a plastic tool or knife then you have to grasp the sping and unhook them. The others are held in with strong magnets and I use a suction cup tool to pull them of
This is a cheap Chinese tub with a Enormous step in height, looks to be around 9+ inches. Also has a 1 year limited warranty so when the tub stops working you will eventually need to buy a new one. Your better off finding an American made tub with a life time warranty. I have done extensive research on this topic and there are only two American manufactured walk in tubs on the market. Safestep and Boca Mfg. Safestep manufactures in TN and has a step in of 4 inches, life time warranty and cost between 17k-25k installed. bocamfg.com tubs are manufactured in GA and have a step in of 2 inches, life time warranty and cost about half the price.

Where is the info on how difficult it is to install?? What’s involved??
This isn’t a “very small” bathroom as you keep referring to. If this is, I’d like to see what you call a normal size bathroom. The typical four bedroom house has 2 1/2 baths. 5x8 is the typical (average) size full bath. Anything bigger is a luxury bath.
You did a fantastic job on that bathroom by the way!
Thank you for sharing this video.
Mine leaks at the base of the door, was fixed 2 months ago and already leaks again... I wanna see one removed.
One trick I always did is to never leave the door closed and latched when not in use. The one in the video was 12+ years old and didn't leak at all, not sure if that helps
Fantastic deal and idea!!!
Thank you
These tubs are a fairly new concept....how do you find a used dirty one on Craigslist??
They have been out for a while. Search on "walk in baththub" walkin tub there are many of them for sale all the time. Most people selling them try to ask thousands but never get those prices, keep an eye on them and when the ad gets old make a low offer like I did and they will take it. Still working great till this day.
You need a Pollenex whirlpool hot spa.
What an awesome idea to buy preowned.
Thank you kindly. Yes, for these the discounts are HUGE so for the little hassle of getting it you truly save thousands.
What is the width of the unit? Great videos. New to the channel.
51" x 30" - Thank you for watching! Hope to see you back soon.
very unique smart idea
How long does it take to drain from full?
Mine drains in less than 2 minutes, I have seen that listed as a concern online but mine just has a normal drain setup and empties quick.
Damn. Nothing like this anywhere near me. I clean for a living so I wouldnt mind scrubbing something real good to get it as a discount.
Keep looking they are out there, Craigslist gets a lot of them
A great deal for $300.
Niche product, limited selection, stuck with whatever features and markup the mfg has decreed.
where do you get this
Hi, did you have to crack the floor open to accomodate the plumbing. I'm looking at the same project in a house with a slab foundation and a contractor said I would probably have to break through the foundation to install plumbing for the jets. Didn't make sense to me. I'm replacing a standard tub
Insurance doesn’t pay for walk in tubs
@@SilverCymbal So what are we saying, only about a ten percent chance someone died in this tub? lol. Enjoy bro.
@@mrrobvs If they did, they most certainly enjoyed their last moments with the LED lightning and aromatherapy module. Just remember every toilet you use and spouse you meet had someone else there before you. Life isn't sterile.
where did u get that tub for 300
I forget I would like a different sink and higher toilet.
Very helpful, thanks.
That sink can be had new for $100 used should be $40. Faucet new less than $100 used $25
I want to kiss that puppy🥰
What's the name brand of the tub?
Hey, I’m interested in ur walk in tub and would like to hire you or your guy to install walk-in tubs in my elderly homes
Thank you. I don't do this for a living, just DIY for me and to share with you and others if you want to do it yourself for ideas
That looks deeper I can Swimmin it without getting water all over the floooor
What you came here for starts at 2:33
Good job👍🏽
You want to upgrade our house? This is one way to do it. I don’t feel safe anymore! Taking showers, I’m scared to death of falling, and that stupid ass soap dish just crying out for me to crack my skull on. This is why I don’t bathe as often as I would like. I would love something like this! I’m scared every time I get in the shower. This is not right! Plus I would love and need the hydrotherapy for my back. It certainly would help me sleep and I could be clean too! I know we need a new roof and I want that to get done, so we can scratch the motherfucker off the list, I’m tired of hearing about it! Just do it! Love, J.😊
How do ya remove those access panels?
Two different ways some are held in with springs, you can pry them with a plastic tool or knife then you have to grasp the sping and unhook them. The others are held in with strong magnets and I use a suction cup tool to pull them of
I see you are proud of your purchase but you sold the idea of doit your self, i never hear or see you showing the way step by step on the how to.
Great deal
love this
Very nice
How can I remove a walk in bathtub?
It varies on what you have but they come out fairly easily.
can i get one of these tubs in the uk.?
Someone else may comment, but they must sell these there. Buying this used was fantastic. Still working great today, 3 years later.
@@SilverCymbal what are you on about. im going over your message trying to make out what any of it has to do with my question lol.
You'd better have a shower curtain with that hand held. I speak from experience.
Nice
