I was just 7 years old when my mom came to OSU for her PhD and OSU won the national championship in 2002. I was in 5th grade in Columbus Public Schools then. We moved back to India several years later and I'm happily here, but even all these years later, I'm a staunch Buckeye fan! Even when people in India think American football and rugby are the same 🤣. There are so many great Buckeye memories, but I agree with all Jim Tressel fans, that he was one of my favorite coaches, not just for beating Michigan all but one year, because of tattoo gate, but beating Miamis ass in the National Championship! Keep impacting Coach Day on his march to greatness. Love what you brought to OSU, and love Coach Day. He's going to get it figured out, and then WATCH OUT. Thanks for everything, Coach Tress.
@Buckeye_4_Life_ How long did it take Kirby Smart to win a championship ? Day has been there once with a depleted team. He also almost got by Georgia, he fixed that problem, defense. He also did something OSU coaches had not done, beat Clemson. Day is on the cusp of a big run, and doing things to be ready. Depth building this year for that 12 team playoff, when other teams will suffer. I like where he has the program, he is winning consistently and his teams are always in the conversation. He will win a title, and odds on he will get a few before he is done at OSU. Personally I want to see his have a 20 yr career as head coach. We have had quite a few 10 and Jones. Coach day should bring coach Tressel on board some how. Doesnt need to be on the sidelines but in the building on a consistent basis. Someone to bounce ideas off of and get solid advice from
Michigan Fan here. 1. Coach Tress needs to have 1 million subscribers. He’s such a damn good coach and man. His days at Youngstown state were epic and I believe he retired after that??? 2. All football fans need to hear Coach Tress speak.
Coach Tressel, as a lifelong OSU fan and a great admirer of yours, I can tell you that your podcast and interviews are amazing. Please do these every week. I've got a very very strong testimony that I'd love to share with you, that in of itself could be a great segment.
There was absolutely no one more happy than I was when it was announced that Jim Tressel would be the new Head Football Coach at “THE” Ohio State University as I have always been a fan of The Great Leader Of Men Jim Tressel..
What an amazing interview! Jim Tressell is so intelligent. He was born to coach. I think some under-appreciated him. It’s amazing that OSU essentially went from Tressell to Urban Meyer. Ryan Day may end up being in that tier too. Go Day & Go Bucks!!
This is a lesson in running a business as well as a football program it takes a team to be successful and achieve your goals finding your strengths and weaknesses
My only interaction with coach Tressel was at the 2008 spring game. Terrell Pryor was there but in street cloths. The team was heading back into the locker room after the game and I saw coach and yelled his name. He looked but didnt know who called his name and kept walking. That was enough for me!
Coach, I really appreciate these videos. I am getting ready to retire from the Army and the main thing I think I am going to miss is being away from the team. Listening to this series I am beginning to realize that the "team" is everywhere where. I think there is so much vaule added to this series. Thank you for all you do!
Coach Tressel: Greatest Coach of all time laying down lots of wisdom. So glad you’re sharing that wisdom, coach, and appreciate the great guests you’ve had on so far.
Everything the coaches talk about translates directly to the business world. Companies love to hire student athletes that can balance class work and athletics. They become effective leaders.
"Every other person" - the individual power is in the connection (the spread) - power of self is very weak vs power of connection w/ others and even beyond - So great to hear your thoughts, coach. Then Ryan talks about the Vision that drives and aligns a group of individuals. Great interview.
He is one of the most conservative coaches ever. I loved having him as our coach. He never liked to gamble. Sometimes, it came back to bite him, but he knew how to beat TTUN!
Day is coming into his own .... Urban has helped and he's got the Senators vote now. First time in the Day era i feel like he's the Head Coach of our boys at The Ohio State!
Say what you will about these guys winning games but both of them always did stuff the right way no matter what they said about tressels firing he was always a players coach and loved the state of Ohio
I love the Team Ideal. So true, Jim, that it gets lost in this society and has for a long time. Not just players. Coaches, administration. So much goes into that Gameday Product on the field that fans watch for ~3-4 hours every weekend. My Power Spread Ideal is PS = SpaceTimeTeam -- st squared if you will. Great show Coach. Love and respect you and coach Day not just for success in football but for the bigger life journey of paying forward and coaching life to others. It was awesome seeing two great coaches speak of their coaching methods and philosophy and how you develop teamwork in the program. Really, really good information I am sure Buckeye Nation will love hearing. I understand how much pressure and the unrealistic expectations of Buckeye fans. We know that the other teams have good coaches and players too. I think there is a historic love of football from youth all the way to Ohio State and the NFL Ohio Teams or NFL teams our Buckeyes go play. Although Columbus is a big Metro Area and with the history of Ohio football it still feels like a smaller community of football spirit. We are constantly given information about the players, coaches and the team as a whole. We are told by the media more than the Coach's how great each player is so we put them on a pedestal and have determined they are the best and our team will win for sure. Yet we know that when they come in as 4 or 5 stars they don't always play that way or had injuries along the way that curtailed their talent. So just want to say, we know you coaches that sign on to Buckeye Football know the expectations. We know that winning a National Championship there are so many factors that determine that, and luck is a part of that as is staying healthy and so many factors the coaches and players can determine yet some they cannot. How many times have we seen the play off game or Championship game come down to one play or a bad official call making a difference? With all of the amazing coaches Ohio State has been blessed with like you, Coach Day, Urban, Paul Brown, John Cooper, Woody Hayes, Earl Bruce, and so many more, ( gee just realized this is a College Football Hall Of Fame Group), and we had so many amazing assistants. I would have thought you and Urban would have won two National Championships at the least just because of the talent you brought in but more because you were one of the best coaches in the country. Goes to prove there are so many variables that determine the Champ some controlled and some not and some luck and other teams. Sorry so wordy I just wanted you to know love your show and see it has so much value even more than football. Praying for Coach Day and the Buckeyes to win a National Championship this year not for us nor each of them but for The Team because that is what they will remember most about their football days at The Ohio State University and that team will be joined for life. God Bless You and Buckeye Nation.
