I did! Just so happened to catch it in time that I was able to get up there. The 757 was a bonus though, I had no idea it was there until I got there haha

United 87 appears to have entered a hold around 9:05PM UTC southeast of Syracuse, then turned back to Cleveland. United 88, also a B772, diverted an hour earlier over Rochester after a brief hold, also to Cleveland (Tail N77019). It took off at 5:50. Almost got two 777s. I assume these were weather related also. My guess is because we have a United hangar here, they came this way instead of somewhere closer like Pittsburgh. Nice catch though, love the 777.

Steve Pavloski I figured it was due to weather. There’s been a couple diversions the last few weeks. I know there was a Dreamliner a little while ago, and another 777 last week. Just glad I was able to catch this one.

It was! There was even a second 777 parked, but that one wasn’t scheduled to take off for a long tome

Triple 7s could be a regular thing at Hopkins except for the idiot leaders in Cleveland caused Hopkins to lose all of the international flights we had

No matter who the city leaders are, seeing jumbo aircraft are more of a thing of the past at most US airports unless it's a truly large international airport like ORD, LAX, JFK, etc. UA did have 747 & DC10 flights in the 1970's for domestic flights as did AA & NW at CLE. When CLE had the flights to LHR & CDG, they were on single aisle 757s. After airlines started using regional partners, mainline equipment, including the jumbos, were seen less frequently. This holds true today for a lot of domestic airports.

As much as I’d like to see more triple 7s, 747s, and A380s at Hopkins, I truly think that the concept of a “jumbo” aircraft is a thing of the past. These larger aircraft, mainly the 747 and the A380, are not being bought up by many airlines right now. These aircraft were used more for the “Hub and Spoke model” vs the new “Point to Point” model (this video link explains these concepts exceptionally well: ua-cam.com/video/NlIdzF1_b5M/v-deo.html). My point: larger aircraft are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Newer, more fuel efficient/lower operating cost aircraft seem to be taking over now, and they can fly farther than ever before. Until a larger aircraft can operate for a similar cost of these newer aircraft can, than the 787 and the A350 are going to be the new norm. And who knows what the upcoming 797 will be haha
