Episode 4: How to Choose a Surf Kayak (Sit Inside) for Ocean Waves. A Beginner's How-To-Series.

Welcome to Episode 4 of Surf Kayak & Waveski Surfing, A Beginner's Journey.
My journey in Surf Kayaking started in April of 2021 upon learning how to roll in a white water kayak before entering out in the ocean in June in my first surf kayak, which was a used Mega "Cyclone." The long boat was a great kayak to learn on as a beginner, and as I progressed I decided to go shorter and purchase a Mega "Banshee." Then after a year, I started experimenting with short HP boats and made the decision to try the Mega "Edge" which I'm extremely happy with. I currently surf Long Boats, Short Boats, Waveskis, SUP Surfs and Shortboards.
***BIG NOTE ON LONG BOATS: They are also the choice for surfing MONSTER waves in crazy conditions like surfing big wave guns, where a short boat would not venture. A Long Boat can and will surf great in ALL CONDITIONS. Check out videos with Alejo Pacheco, Dessie Mcglinchey and Chris Hobson showing us how it's done FLYING down those mountains.

Hey Richie, great video over all. Just a heads up "eskimo" is a slur against inuit peoples and we don't call rolls "eskimo rolls" anymore.

Nice job. I made a similar assumption about IC boats being better for smaller waves. Someone pointed out to me that Alejo Pacheco would disagree. He kills it in an IC boat surfing large waves.

Yes! IC Boats are great on monster waves! Alejo, Dessie, Hobson ride some monsters! Hopefully the beginners will see the notes in the video description.
