Color theory and being a better to draw better, keeps many of us from doing more painting, or having teachers saying if you can’t draw then you can’t be painter. Love your encouragement to keep playing and be a rockstar.thank you

Love the intro your sense of humour is beautiful. You are such a lovely woman. I’ve been watching you for quite some time on UA-cam and it’s a real blessing. The way you do your videos it’s not like anybody else and I think that’s one of the reasons, I love it so much. You also have a nice restful and peaceful nature. And you talk through your processing your head really good you think it might be crazy but a lot of us can relate.

Wow, I don't think I ever subsribed to someone so fast, you just seem like such a nice and genuine person and your art & this video have such a calm, positive athmosphere about them, I love it!
Also I am currently thinking about getting some of these paints to try them, they seem so fun (and might just solve the issues I personally have with acrylics) and your video really helped to get an impression of how they would actually feel, so thank you for that!

Welcome!!! soooo glad to have you here! I've been doing a TON of painting with these paints and they've converted me from an oil painter to actually using acrylics - I can't believe I'm saying that! There are several paintings on my channel that I've painted using these paints and the one coming out Friday I am using these paints too.

Beautiful review, good fluid & good matte acrylics are so hard to find.
One of the best things I learned after just watching your channel after a few weeks, is to use only the basics !
I have to admit I was the artist that always needed a full set of colors, but than never knew what to make. I started to use the basics, and put away the rest in a box. So freeing and motivation to create stuff by just having the need to MIX colors! Doozie doggy ... thank you sooooo much for teaching us that !

This is so interesting, Sandi! I love a good paint review. I was gifted (and then bought a few extra) Golden heavy body acrylics earlier this year and found the varying sheen to them difficult to handle (some were more matte but others really shiny). So I bought a matte medium to hopefully make them all a bit more matte and even. I haven't had time to try it yet but you've inspired me to experiment with my Golden acrylics this weekend! Hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy your new paints!

Natasha, the acrylics I've had in the past are the heavy body or just regular acrylics and I would have thought that I'd like that consistency better but man oh man, these fluid acrylics just work sooooooo much better. I don't know why but they just do! I think with the kind of work you do that you would really like these and I highly recommend them. I wish I had said this in the video but I think they have more of the consistency of acrylic gouache. Thank you for your kind words!!!

Your videos are always so much fun! And I'm really happy you mentioned not getting the full rainbow of colors. It's fun to get all the art supplies in the world, in all the colors, but it can be very overwhelming and then it really works against you. It takes much longer to get to know the medium and to get to know the colors. This year I started painting in oil colors (and loving it), but I got the basic standard set and not any other color. After some months, I added yellow ochre and Venetian red, but that's about it. It can be very overwhelming to start with too many colors, because it takes much longer to know your mixes. Another benefit of starting out with a small palette: it's easier to scale down. I started for example in watercolors, with a limited palette. That grew over the past 7 years to a collection of 24 colors, but when I go out and sketch in the zoo, I want to take my mini watercolor box, which fits only 9 colors. It's really easy, because I know which colors make what mixes, to scale down that studio palette to a set that can handle almost any situation and adjust if I need. Because I know my colors, my mixes and even the pigments. Had I started with a big box of all the colors, I wouldn't know this. So I'm very happy you mentioned it!

Thank you for another fun video. I have to admit that I am somewhat guilty of keeping too many colours on my palette... however, I think I learned to appreciate every single one for different reasons and I always make sure NOT to use ALL of them in one painting... sending warm wishes your way!

@@sandihester My frustrations with acrylics have been 1) they just aren't fluid enough 2) there's such a crazy fast drying time. I've loved playing with the flashe paints and am embarking on an experiment using Golden wetting agent to transform my heavy body acrylics into something more fluid without compromising or watering down the pigments. Fingers crossed. I think I'm searching for the wooosh and blending surprises of watercolor (which I love so much!) in acrylics.

I got a set of 10. I come from watercolor and colored pencil and know 3 colors work but I can’t help myself. My inner coloring book girl wants all the colors! But with watercolor I have learned that I can own 100 colors and it’s fine as long as I limit any single painting to 3-6 colors. Sometimes I’ll go crazy and use like 7-8 colors but rarely go more than that. My time with watercolors though I need double primaries plus burnt umber. And white because with watercolors you don’t need white but first lesson is that in acrylics you use white a lot a lot. Lol sorry anyway I got a set of I think 10 or 12 of these. And it’s in these tiny tubes. I have been working larger in acrylics than ever before but mostly I work very small so those tiny bottles work for me.

Anyways wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving from Austalia.

Thank you Gaye - I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I know - I got to talking and my brain forgot the path it was on - I hate when I do that! I’m working hard at trying to complete a sentence but it doesn’t always happen. Really either yellow will work because you can cool a warm down with white and warm a cool down with some red. Sometimes the warms have more color/strength than the cools. Hope that helps!

Im a Golden user heavy body acrylics for years. No smell to me. Golden is considered a high quality professional paint and thats why they are more expensive. The pigments are fantastic and yummy. Acrylic always dries a bit darker...Was the demo on paper with no gesso? I find when you use acrylic on paper without Gesso the paper drinks up the paint too much..my opinion.
