I ran one of these for years. Love Caterpillars. My grandfather ran similar models. These’ll jack up your shoulders, thoracic and neck for sure! Modern ones are much more user friendly.

Kind of a shame. Something that old still running and able to work. Push start and then move it in a high gear with zero warm up. We spend 10 times more for the junk we buy today that has no hope of being around and functional after 3/4 of a century yet we don't abuse it like this. The very technology we incorporate to coddle ourselves will be what prevents modern equipment from any use but the scrap heap long before it's time. When I see an old machine like that still working 3/4 of a century after it came off the production line I see real environmentalism and real economy. Yet it doesn't even deserve service so it starts or even a warm up. Just abuse it, kill it and throw it away.
How do your guys got the money to run and operate them do you guys running a business or just driving them around open fild how to guys get the money because I've been waching your videos for a long time them caterpillars will run a price tag of 1.2 million dollars brand new because i was waching a video showing new ones can you imaging how much money if your caterpillars where brand new i say around three to four million if not more especially brand new i loved waching your videos cool video
these machines are like 10k -15k each, a decent job will land you about 2-3k such as pond digging depending on the size. for a grader most guys around here charge 65-80$ a hour so theres money to be made with these old machines. its not buyign them that costs money its the diesel and the repairs, these guys are good mechanics so they can keep em goin. honestly the hardest part about running old iron is sourcing good parts. some larger dozers are a little more expensive but not by much. also i dont they own every machine, theres some that are the ranchers and they just operate them. dunno which are which but yeah ,newer machines are often rented depending on the job. im pretty suure those newer dozers weren't theirs
My dad had a 12 like this ! It was his everyday grader through the 80s and 90s .
