Notice no STUPID lawyer or prescription commericals and OMG I remember when Maybeline eyeshadow looked like that. That was when I started wearing makeup
My 4th birthday. Pretty wild. In many ways I’d just like to go back to that time with how things have changed. And yet, oddly, a lot hasn’t. Ads for junk food and drink like soft drinks and chips, conflicts in the Middle East, and TV shows that aren’t that great. At least back then you felt like the information that you got about things was legit.
Mine was too. In 1983 I was 13 and loved spending the night at my mamaws' and spent the summer LOVING daytime tv. Sleep in watch game shows in the morning and soaps in the afternoon and off to the pool. What a wonderful carefree life.
Maybe over the past couple decades, but soaps arguably were never more popular at the time. It was really cool to have a Soap Opera Digest subscription and even college students would watch them between classes. Then of course Dallas and Dynasty duked it out for the top-rated show in primetime, and both were very popular overseas. If it weren't for those and all the others, there wouldn't be a Neighbours or EastEnders. It started to go downhill in the late '80s when the writing started to deteriorate following a writer's strike, and then the rise of courtroom shows and real-live trials continued to put a wrench for soap fans.

No car insurance commercials either. The good old days.
Love these commercials. You’re amazing for doing this.
One month away from my last day in elementary school. Good times.
Next year, "General Hospital" will celebrate 57 years on the air and surpass "Guiding Light" as the longest running soap opera!

At this time I was 7 and my mom was always watching GH when I got home from school. Makes me wonder if I was watching when this was recorded.
That's future "Supermarket Sweep" host David Ruprecht in the A-1 commercial.
I loved the 1980's ladies fashions. Look at them in the Ban commercial. I would wear them now, minus the shoulder pads of course.
We had to have our shoulder pads back then!!! ☮️

Do you have the episode to AMC that day? Don't really care about the other shows.
Unofrtunately I don't. Whoever recorded it was obviously a GH fan as evidenced by the 20th Anniversary spots during some of the breaks.
