I remember him from when I was a kid up in my eyeballs with comic books from my library and his cover artwork always caught my eyes. What master artist! 🤩
What an interesting and unique spin on this character. This must be my favorite humanoid face I've seen you draw--there's a very primal presence and air of mystery about it. Super badass.
It's good to see that he's a normal human being and also uses the eraser sometimes

The way he quickly and flawlessly draws the body is amazing!! I just wing it and hope for the best lol
As a kid I used to watch Bob Ross and William Alexander and many times about 20-30% into the paintings I would go “whoops. You really screwed up the whole thing there.” And yet a few minutes later it would all start coming together and I would have to admit I was completely wrong. When the “smudging” started I was taken back to my childhood and I went “Jim! What the hell are you doing?! You screwed it all up!!” Aaaand of course I should never doubt Mister Lee. Fantastic version of Raven appeared out of what I thought was a completely screwed up mess.
when you smudged for shading as a kid at art class, you get an F. No wonder i hated art as a kid.. self-expression was prohibited.
That is the best pic of Raven I have ever seen, hands down! I WILL HAVE IT AS MY MURAL ON MY WALL, AND KINGS AND THEIR QUEENS WILL WEEP AT THE VERY SIGHT OF ITS NOIR TONES AND PERFECT LINES!

when I was younger he was drawing the series namor prince of the seas. it was fabulous. I had fun repacking his dark and powerful drawings. What a talent Jim!

I know this is going to sound “cringe” but, his hand moves on its own like a certain technique in DBS. But I also know this is years of practice for Mr. Lee, but damn are his drawings amazing!
It takes hin about 4 minuits to draw the construction lines...For me it takes about 20 minuits😂😂
Yeah, it probably took him 40 years to learn to draw construction lines in 4 minutes. He is amazing nonetheless!

Does anyone know what kind of ink jim used for smudging? I've tried different ones on my bristol, and it's buckled the paper when I try to black a substantial section like this. Thanx

srivatsa damaraju Micron pens. He usually use 0.5. The smudgy thing is just paper towel/tissue, Kleenex if you're interested in the brand.
