Brilliant design! The interlocking pieces of the body are where 3d printed bodys need to go. So many folks relying on gluing them together still. Those inner fenders are super flexible too!

RC Everyday thanks! Yeah it's a bit of work to design, but worth it in my mind. Or at the very least, holes that you can put bits of rod in to align parts. The tiniest misalignment can turn into hours of sanding otherwise!

Thank you, glad you like it, I really had a blast making it, nice to just design something from scratch for a change instead of trying to replicate a real car.

Wow - what a great result you got with direct application of the acetone. I had been under the impression that it was necessary to expose the piece to acetone vapours but here I saw your results with my own eyes.
The design of the body itself is very cool - thumbs up : )

Del350K4 it really did work out nicely. It would be great to find a sponge that survived longer for the future. I've done acetone vapor before on small things and it worked great, but I tried it on this and it was a failure, I think the vapor is too heavy and just sat at the bottom of the huge tub. Knowing how explosive it is I wasn't going to go putting a DC fan in to stir it or anything.
I'm actually busy with another big ABS project that needs smoothing though, so I'm going to have to try it again.

Perhaps a genuine natural sponge would last longer than an everyday urethane one.
I look forward to seeing the fruits of your labours when you carry out your next big ABS print.

Thanks man! Never saw many printed but I'm still really proud of the shape, probably just because it reminds me of my beloved old Beach Buggy, sentimental first car vibes and all that 😉

Hahaha, I'll take it as a compliment since I made the video but the music is from UA-cam's sweet collection of free elevator music 😜
