Petko, I just want to say thank you. It may not seem like much but you’ve helped me conquer my arachnophobia. It was to the point that I would have a panic attack because I saw a spider. I fainted a few times because a spider was in my bedroom. Every night, I would search my whole house, under the furniture, under every mat, shoe etc before I went to bed. I would look in every corner of every room and it would take me atleast 2 hours before I could go to sleep. I had days where I couldn’t go to work because I saw a spider by my window and I was so afraid of it coming inside and it disappeared so I “knew” it was in my house somewhere. Long story short, yesterday I managed to cup a big spider in my living room and I felt calm, I even managed to look at it through the cup and I released it in my neighbors back garden. It’s a huge step and I have you to thank, I have watched your videos for over a year and I now get so excited to see the next one. Thank you
I am terrified of big spiders, especially the fast ones. We get decently sized Tegenaria Domestica here in Ireland, I am still not a fan but I am slowly getting used to spiders after watching Petko! Your comment is really wholesome
@@ataka2142 thank you. I did have to google what spider you was on about and it’s the same one I had in my living room (I’m in England) I just googled big spider and I couldn’t find a name. I’m glad you’re getting better with them x
Hey, you actually do have one female (bulkier/wider carapace) and two males (markings on the carapace and thin front legs) and all three are pretty shortly before maturity, watch out for the little boxing gloves on the smaller ones.
2 years ago a huntsman spider invaded my house! I was amazed how fast it was, never seen a spider like that before. Catching it was very difficult, especially while my mum and bro were super scared and shouting to kill it with fire lol
The last spider took pity on you after the second rehouse- even posed for a close-up beauty shot! My heart was beating almost as fast as that second spider moved, in sympathy with your heart I imagine. Glad you caught it! 😥😁
I just kept hearing Homer sing "spiderpig spiderpig does whatever a spiderpig does". Good job on filming during the recapture. I would have forgotten the camera and the hunter still would have gotten away.
Just for in the future of any escapees behind furniture... perhaps you should get a long-handled aquarium net? Then you could net them (carefully) and gently pull them to a reachable place without having to move the furniture as much.
"It looks like he is just smiling at my situation." 😂 He was just watching you run around... So funny! You have to be particularly careful with transporting spiders.. Roflol I know this was a super frustrating video for you but honestly this is UA-cam gold! ❤️
Hello Petko, not sure if anyone has already mentioned but that gap on the door can be adjusted to minimize it. At 2:10 of the video I can see that the first set screw on the hinge body is sticking out and if you tighten or advance it clockwise it will adjust the position of the door. Although the gap does look significant and I'm not sure if that will close it up all the way. Hope it works out!
11:15 in germany we got a very similar saying ein Unglück kommt selten allein which translates to misfortune rarely comes alone :D 12:15 "its kiting me" that is how you recognize a true gamer ❤
This is me, every other month in australia, surprised by a big-'un in my home, and then wondering where the hell it went! - like that laboratory-hand/crab-alien scene from Aliens... 😀
Having grown up with huntsman spiders in and around the house every day, this was amusing to watch. So many rookie mistakes! Never underestimate a huntsman's speed, reflexes, and ability to sprint through the tiniest cracks & crevices.
For your doors, the hinges are adjustable so you shouldn't have to re-cut and make the doors, you can adjust the left to right and "move" the door more to the side you need to adjust it to
I use the same substrate mixture but where you add sand for texture I add fresh vesicularia montagnei for colour. I grow it in an aquarium with just the moss in it and when it is full I pull half, shred it and mix it into my substrate container. It adds some really beautiful colour to the terrarium and the tarantula loves to manipulate/use it.
Brilliant video as usual, a similar saying is "it never rains it pours" I also think it applied to the situation, I'm amazed how calm you "appear" to be, Well Done. X
Got to love a vanishing huntsman, this is my life in Australia. There is one which is determined to live in my bedroom and comes back every time I relocate it. I got so sick of it vanishing while I went to fetch a container to move it in that I’ve started to keep random spider catching things around the room.
And you didn't want to record this riveting content... tsk tsk. 🤣 I'm so glad everything worked out and everyone is safe and good, thank you and I apologize as I am one of the ones who was pushing for you to record all of the rehouses, lol. Sorry 😅 love from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania xx
Keeping huntsman spiders is like running the raptor enclosure at Jurassic Park. Moving them almost always goes wrong in some small way, and when they escape they just vanish. I'm Australian and I absolutely love huntsman spiders. We get some pretty big Jungle Huntsman's at my place and they are so beautiful! If you can ever get your hands on one, I would recommend the Pandercetes Gracilis (Lichen Huntsman) or the new Australian Tiger Huntsman (an undescribed Sparrasidae). The colours on these guys are phenomenal!
Petko: tries to rehouse a spider in a much more comfy and beautiful enclosure to please it Huntsman spider: "nah i want your entire basement." Thor: "what's going on here? too much chaos gotta escape." Felix in the background: "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON BACK THERE IM TRYING TO SLEEP!"
We have a huntsman on the wall in the next room. They like chillin on walls. I think you’re right saying he wanted his enclosure to be behind the table 😂 Most of ours look like that last colour presentation
Deep breath Petco...take big deep breath..let it out very slowly...repeat 2 more times. It really works to reduce stress...and once the chaos is over...a nice hot cup of Earl Grey.💓

It shows you have a lot of experience and I appreciate that. I felt so bad for you during the second :/ It's good the third spider behaved. You deserved the break, and good shots!
Petko that’s a soft close hinge, you can close the gap a little by fiddling around with the screws on the hinge. Screw in/put to move forward or back and one of the screws you can screw in/out to move in or out
You can probably adjust those hinges to get the door to sit how you want. I couldn’t see the hinges very well to tell you how. But there should be a screw on each hinge that moves that door to the right and left. And another for up and down. And then one to adjust for warped doors.
This is why many Aussies are scared of huntsman spiders even though they aren't that dangerous. They move so quick and can squeeze into many tight spaces. We can get some pretty big Huntsman spiders here in Aus, I saw a vid the other day from Lair of Centipedes, he unboxed 2 big huntsmans he got on April 2 2021. I recommend checking out that vid to see how big they can get here in Aus.
Thanks Petko, this was entertaining to watch. Lol Huntsmen are notorious here in Australia for suddenly appearing on the inside of your windscreen while motoring along at 100 km per hour.
This makes me glad this worst I have to worry about is a rogue endemic wolf spider jumping out at me. Yeah they jump too and my house seems to grow them large. Large enough some have been hard to cup without grabbing for a bowl.
If you didn't think of it yet you can get cheap velvet or rubber small circular stoppers to stick on the wood where the doors you made close so they don't wear or damage on close.
