Id agree but then again brooks and dunn were the ONLY yes ONLY band i knew until i was 7 and discovered there are other cds and other bands out there so i may be a bit bias lmao
Both of these men have been in this business for a long time. And it shows. Peaceful and a smooth delivery. Loads of passion and heart filled feelings. Masters of their craft. I love it when the crowd sings. They just take over and keep it going. And yes they are showing off.
Honestly, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s country has some of the best singers. Strait, Garth Brooks, B&D (obviously), Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, and Reba all come to mind for fantastic singing as well as excellent stories played throughout their music.
@@seanscanlon9067 you have the right to your opinion My Maria was a God awful cover. and missing you was just an embarrassment Moneygrab.. I don't think he could have dialed that one in any better if he was sitting in a phonebooth
I just saw them live again this past spring - fabulous, fun, energetic show ( band & audience!) - and RD still sounds exactly like this. He's held up very well for a "mature" guy
A sad country-western song. Very well done. Great arrangement. Very skilled folks. A very intimate relationship with the band and audience. The crowd sing for Ronnie & Kit. As always I enjoy your reactions. Take care lady.
Few years ago I worked nights in the oil patch in Oklahoma. Round about midnight, this big classic country station in OKC would play this song nearly every night. Not this live version but the studio cut. Huge smash hit that I never tire of hearing. Hope you like it too.
Soooo happy to see this. Have been waiting forever to see a vocal coach take on Ronnie Dunn! If you want to hear Kix Brooks sing lead - the only two big B&D hits with a Kix lead are "Rock My World (Little Country Girl)" and "Lost and Found". Would really love to see you try either as a follow-up!
These men are smooth with a strong stage presence.... Both are are good song writers... They sell a lot of music. This is a perfect Country & Western song about love heart-break, drinking, and bars.. Perfect!
This just came across my feed even though it's a few years old. My daughter and I just saw Brooks and Dunn a few weeks ago. Ronnie Dunn hasn't lost any of his voice that you could tell. Think though that this is also a live performance and Dunn sings so well it could easily be mistaken for a recording. They're still awesome to see.
This song has it all, a story of a broken heart, steel guitar, fiddle, and great harmonies! A damn good tune. Kix Brooks does a radio show for the weekends. This allows stations to fill that slot without hiring a DJ. Plus he knows the business!!! Thanks.
I can promise you something. after seeing this guy sing live twice...he doesn't need a critic, good or bad. probably one of the best singers in the world...
That troubadourness of Country is what makes me a fan (still a hard rock/metal head at heart, but i listen to everything), much like the old style Folk music. Rock has had a few balladeers, but sadly, not so much in the last few decades. .Keep up the good work brighteyes
Beth, These men are legends of the Country & Western genre. They are good song writers.. And they are master performers with a strong stage presence.... This video proves that for sure and for certain......
Revisiting your great reaction. B& D had retired but both still were performing. They have somewhat come back together and I was blessed to enjoy their performance last minute nth at the Houston Rodeo (they have performed there almost every year since B& D started). I can tell you Ronnie Dunn can still hold a note and we the crowd was amazing singing along to this and all their other hits. Outstanding performers!
I love Brooks and Dunn and country music!! First time I heard this live!!! Thank you!!! If you want to hear something beautiful, listen to Pinks duet at the country music awards last week!!! It is phenomenal!!!
These old country songs from my childhood make me wannangrab a lady and slow dance around a bonfire on a nice warm summer night under the stars. I grew up on this stuff and though I drifted away from this old country for years as I explored my own musical interests, I never mind hearing these old songs and I can’t help but sing along. Brooks and Dunn were my favorite as a little kid, and this song in particular was one of my favorite songs, and my mom has old vhs tapes of me singing this in my pj’s, cowboy boots and hat at like 5 years old. And It’s definitely going to get played at my wedding whenever I get married whether I like or not... They were also the first concert I ever went to. I was a cute little cowboy lol.
I'm a native Texan, pop and rock singer, recently introduced to country, and if you guys think this is easy to sing, listen again, so much nuance in his voice and phrasing. One would think being a Texan, I'd pick it up quickly, but no, requires a lot of study. There is a pent up beginning with a pushing forward in his phrasing which is the key to making the song work. Absolutely love this song. BTW working on your Paul Rodgers of Bad Company "SHOOTING STAR" which has its own mysteries and complexities. So ironic, that a BRIT can sound so country and often better at it. Love Bad Company.
I spent the first 10 years of my life listening to nothing but country and old classic rock. Brooks and Dunn were one of my favorites, and this song in particular was one I loved. The first concert I ever went to was at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with my mom where we saw, guess who, Brooks and Dunn of course! My mom actually has a video of me at about 6 years old singing this song into a cheap little kids karaoke machine, wearing just a cowboy hat, one of my dad’s t shirts which I used to sleep in (so it was basically like a dress on me) and my cowboy boots. It’s embarrassing and adorable and hilarious because I’m so into my performance in the living room of my childhood home, completely awful at singing but not a care in the world, all while my mom and dad watch and film me. Eventually I kinda got away from country music as I got a bit older and started to develop my own musical tastes and interests, and it’s only been in the past few years where I’ve started going back to listening to some country music now and again. It’s not necessarily my favorite genre to listen to while I’m driving or something, but I’ve always really loved the story telling aspect of country. I don’t care as much for the newer kind of pop country of the past 10 years or so where every popular song is about hot girls, big trucks, and mudding, though that kind of music has it’s place as well. I’m glad to see the old type of country music story telling coming back in style again. Thanks for reacting to this song and reminding me of those old memories! I look forward to seeing you react to some more country in the future!
This song is great. I flat out love the steel guitar. As always you make such great observations. I adore the simplicity and smooth delivery. When the crowd sang with them it was very special....
Saw them a bunch of times back in the 90s. Their lives shows were great. It was always fun watching Kix Brooks try to make Reba McEntire laugh on stage while she was trying to sing.
I believe the reason I love country music is because Of my roots coming from Ireland and Scotland. My grandma was scot-Irish and I grew up loving her folk music.
Love your channel, Ms. Roars (🙃)! Just found it this morning. It's great to see a young Brit (or Scot, whichever you consider yourself - sorry if I'm locating you poorly by your accent) listening to and appreciating American country. I'm in my 50's now and grew up pretty much only listening to classic rock n' roll, but have a friend who exposed me to a lot of great country, in particular this song! It's just great music, and through your eyes I see a bit more why this is so good (great vocals, the story, etc.). Early in the video you said something like "I love the cheesiness..." and I thought you were going to make fun of the video but as I watched saw otherwise. My guess is that seeing the band all dressed in country style clothes with the cowboy hats and pedal steel guitar it is so very different look from what you would see and hear in Britain that it sticks out almost cheesy and VERY American. Thanks much for the perspective and your lovely personality! I plan on checking out more videos.
I agree with you Beth in that their delivery is so easy and smooth. These two men have been in the business long enough that they know what is going on. Take care lady..
These men are on tour in the states these days. Some great steel in this tune!!! They and some others will be up in Pittsburgh. You said it requires a lot of practice.. well they have that.. Decades worth!!! Two of Country & Western's finest...
I had the pleasure of seeing them live around 97 '98 at Greatwoods in Massachusetts. Joe Diffey (God bless Joe. Covd sadly,), Wade Hayes opened. the were amazing My Maria was outstanding not just because of Ronnie"s platinum coated vocal chords, but because Kix Brooks went to show off a by jumping over a small obvious and necessary gap in the stage. he jumped over just fine. even added a little flare to his jump. he must have forgot that those boots weren't made for jumpin' (see what i did there with...nevermind.) because when he landed his feet were out a bit further than his upper body, so without missing a beat the song went right on and he was fine.this was about 4years before camera phones and about 15years before youtube so mosts pics were printed on film. if it happened to him these days apart from breaking a hip the clip would viral in hours. thanks for bringing back to the front of my memory. rOAr.
Country music was played by the folks in the Appalachian Mountains in the southern part of the US. Before TV and radio, playing and singing on the front porch was their entertainment. A lot of those that settled in the Appalachian Mts. and on into the south, were from the British Isles. I've been told the English accent in the heat of the south, produce the "southern drawl" that you here in these songs. Great reaction.
These guys are darn good. They are on tour right now.... Ronnie and Kicks work well together. And have sold a lot of music. And now you see & hear why. This is a typical Country and Western song -- heartbreak and sadness. They are having fun with this one. One of my favorite parts is when the audience sings with them. Was that special or what????
Thanks, Beth. "Neon Moon" is my favorite Brooks & Dunn song, and one of my favorite country songs. Several years ago there was a musical tribute to these two on TV, with their songs being performed by others. I watched the entire hour program waiting for "Neon Moon," only to find it was completely omitted from the anthology. I was crushed!
I didn't realize the singers in Brooks and Dunn were so talented. I probably did , but forgot because I just don't focus on them . I should check them out more often!
Earliest concert memory for me is a Brooks and Dunn concert at the Iowa State Fair (one of their shows between 92-95 as they played each year). The song was Brand New Man. Every time they sang "I saw the light" huge spotlights would come on and blind everyone in the crowd. Left quite an impression as it's still one of my favorite songs!
Ronnie Dunn ladies and gentlemen. Check out the CMT Storytellers Neon Moon He is 68 mow and still has that voice. Just amazing and very country to the core.
Yes, and she assumes their british or something because she said "in britain when we sing we lose RRR sound except for when we sing country, you can hear that here"
Ronnie Dunn has one of the greatest voices of all time. I've never listened to Brooks and Dunn live but wow! They're awesome. And I can't wait to see them AND Travis Tritt in May!
In my humble opinion the greatest country music song ever written. It is slow and methodical which allows men and women to dance together and get to know each other which is the point of the entire thing. It's also not too loud. It's also about 5 minutes long which gives couples time to get to know each other while dancing. I was a bartender at the largest bar in the state of New Mexico USA And this was my favorite song to play to get couples together.
The line, "watch your broken dreams dance in and out of the beams of a neon moon" is one of my favorite lines in all of music!!!
structurally perfect song
Ronnie has such a smooth, easy style. His voice just draws you in, and doesn't let you go.
Many say that "Neon Moon" was the greatest country song of the 1990's.
I love Brooks and Dunn, but Garth Brooks in the 90's?
I'd vote for Anymore by Tritt
