    Really useful video Cookie! It reinforces the 7 stance, something I wasn’t doing well for years, and suffering as a result from a rising harness.

    Man, I used to strap my harness so tight to avoid going up that when I fell, I could hardly breathe. Seriously! Keeping your arms straight, as well as the sail, helps a lot. Still learning every session. The wind has been great at Crete this week!
    Hang loose Simon🤙🏽!

    I got so fed up with it rising up, I reverted to my old seat harness, now I’m faster, more comfortable and can create much more MFP, Even with a FSW board, I have more control, less bouncing and no unconfy bar rising up.

    great video as always. thanks
    imho it also has to do with the harness line length. longer lines help enormously with earlier planing, with commitment to the harness and with a rising harness. pls correct me if you think im wrong. thx

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Рік тому

      Agreed… longer lines can certainly help! 👍

    Just switched from an ancient seating harness to a modern waist harness. Problem now is that my back feels battered, mainly the lats. Is it because I have it too tight? I have indeed that it comes up to my chest, perhaps I have to look into that "7" position.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Рік тому

      Could we’ll be too tight… mine is pretty loose. Stance is more likely the issue though- develop a strong stance and it’ll be far more comfortable!

    Question from a non-native speaker: what does ‘commit to the sail’ mean?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Рік тому +1

      To commit to something means to give it to you all. In this case I’m sailing “commit to the sail”… and mean really lean back and trust the sail to hold you. 👍👍

    I have this problem foiling with big sails and race foils
    I would go back to seat harnes but I'm told they won't work for large foil kit
    Any suggestions?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Рік тому +1

      It’s likely down to kit set up or choice, resulting in you needing to adjust into unusual positions to ride.
      Tough to analyse without seeing/testing with you

    • @elliottaylor8344
      @elliottaylor8344 Рік тому

      @Cookiesports I have noticed at the recent pozo event the racers are now using a waist harnes with a additional flap that goes under your bum so like a seat and waist harnes combo looks like the answer 😉

    • @brianweekes1
      @brianweekes1 Рік тому

      That’s probably the answer!!

    Anybody know what goes wrong here: I often find myself in an opposite stance when planning, usually in stronger wind going upwind.. I find myself pushing my back leg straight (driving down on the fin) My front leg bent, my body leaning more to the front of the board. I try to work it into straight mast arm, straight mast leg but I can't, while the other moment just before I was going fine.. being able to open up the sail more, in the right position planning so much more effortless..

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Рік тому

      Heading upwind you may well end up with a bend front leg and pushing off an extended back on… especially if underpowered.

    Is this guy seriously wearing a cap while surfing? How many caps do I need for this if I catapult 10x per session xD?

    • @windsurf888
      @windsurf888 Рік тому

      haha, you need a helmet, which also stops a head with thinning hair from burning - which is why folk wear hats I suspect?

      Another discussion (as mentioned in this video right at the beginning). This is how to sail correctly in a waist harness- as for most people that’s the right choice of harness. 👍👍

      @@Cookiesports Your advice are great if you're sailing peacefully in moderate wind and flat-water condition (Like on the video). When riding powered or overpowered in sever choppy conditions on race or freerace gear, your beautiful 7 stance with perpendicular lines are not always what will work to keep things under control! In that case, my solution to prevent waist harness migration: adjust the harness tight around the waste, use long harness lines and eventually lower the boom for control. Having a V-shaped body can help too! Ha!

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  5 місяців тому

      You’re describing what’s called a “Super-7” stance. It’s explained more in other videos.
      When you do this the sail is pulled to windward and back, meaning the lines still pull away straight from your navel, meaning all previous tips mentioned still work- regardless of water-state or wind strength. ✅
