- I have 24 hours to eat in St louis. I'm using google maps to find the top rated restaurants in each category in the city.
We will have St louis style pizza, ribs, coffee, pastries and even more pizza. We are not going to your typical tourist places around the city, we are on a hunt to find only the best local food.

I went to a fundraiser event at/for the zoo years ago that featured around 50 restaurants serving food, wine, and beer. At the end of the night Huey Lewis and the News performed for about 2 hours. The tickets were $250, but once in, we were able to get as much as we wanted at no additional cost. One of my favorite nights.
That sounds like a great time!
Going to Imo’s for a St. Louis style pizza is the equivalent of going to McDonald’s for a cheeseburger. It’s good but not great. So many better mom and pop places you could’ve went to. If there’s ever a next time, maybe check out Faraci’s, Liliana‘s, Roberto‘s, Serra’s, Uncle, Leo’s, Farotto's or Stefanina's. All of these are superior hand tossed StL style pizza’s. I’m sure there are several others that are worthy of being on this list as well.
That's good to know, I was searching for other St Louis pizza places and nothing was coming up. Thanks for the tip!
I’m from the area but my preference is Giordanos Pizza in Chicago
The only people who like St. Louis pizza are people from St. Louis.
+1 for Faraci's, Serra's, and maybe Pirrone's in Florissant. Imo's may be the original, but they're far from the best. I never even heard of Press "Pizza" before. Now I know why. @@DoesntPayFullPrice
You obviously want attention comparing the square beyond compare to mickey dees must be a mf from Wentzville @DoesntPayFullPrice
Next time you're in the area, try a pork steak! They're best served at home on the grill 😎
I just made some two nights ago. It's one of my wife's favorites!
5:12 St. Louis style ribs aren’t fall off the bone, they have a certain ‘pull’ to get the meat off, and the bbq sauce is glazed on the grill.
You want a little bit of texture, but it doesn't take much to get them off the bone
I get so worried when people make videos on stl food bc I think the great places get missed.. You absolutely chose great places. I was impressed by your choices!
Comet Coffee is my favorite for coffee. Tower Grove Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is food heaven!
For pizza, I love Union Loafers and Anthoninos (not stl style)
Those chocolates from Coffeestamp were from Bijoux. So delicious.
For cocktails I love Lazy Tiger/Yellowbelly and Brennans.
Fine dining, Mainlander, Bulrush, and Nobu's.
Elevated dining, Indo and Sado, The Tavern, Cocina Latina, Retreat Gastropub
Casual restaurants, Meskerem, Maize and Wheat, Tacos La Jefa, Pearl Cafe, Phoenecia, Soup Dumpling STL
Best deli has to be Jovick Brothers
Bakeries and desserts, Sugarwitch, Nathaniel Reid, The Foundry Bakery
Bar food, Tiny Chef and Eat Duckbill
Bubble tea, Cube Tea
Yes! I love that, glad I chose wisely. Thanks for saying that
Never thought of provel as tangy, I always found it more sweet and salty, but i grew up with it, so maybe that's why I don't notice it lol. May i recommend "Lesters", next time your in town? Its in Ladue near Frontenac. It's kind of like sports bar meets Jewish deli, meets BBQ joint. Great food, really friendly ppl, large and comfy environment. More traditional than hipster though.
You are speaking my language, letters sounds great. Thanks for the recommendation. I think the "swiss" element in provel gives it the tang. I've heard it's a combo of American, swiss, and provalone
@@DoesntPayFullPrice Yeah its funny, i love provel, but i never really cared for swiss, but it is in there lol. But yeah i think you'll like Lesters.
The Stellar Hog is my favorite barbecue in town.
Added to my list, thanks for the recommendation!
Next time go to “King Edwards Fried chicken” when I say that’s the best chicken in STL
Nice! I will definitely check it out
Where's that at?
@@chrissanders6819 St.charles
I'm drooling!!!! Big things I miss about St. Louis, Food (all the restaurants), Family & Free things to do!!!
What are some of your favorites?
Next time you are in St. Louis go to Sump for coffee it is amazing!
A few people said that, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Coffee Stamp is a good one. Right down the same road (Jefferson) is Sump coffee, which I worked at for a little while and has a sterling reputation for good coffee. One of my favorite ones to go to however is Comet Coffee. Fantastic pastries, great pour over selection, highly recommend.
I've definitely heard of sump, they're pretty big right? Comet sounds good too!
Sump and Blueprint are my usual STL coffee recommendations.
@@matango6133 I've heard good things about blueprint too!
Literally a block from cafe dolce is Shaws coffee, a small batch roaster and cafe that makes flavorful, delicious, coffee. You missed out!
Ok, at least you went to Adam's Smokehouse, though, which is good.
You're the first person that approved of Adams. Lol. I'll have to check out Shaw's next time around
Is Nick and Elena's still around on Woodson??
I've never heard of it, gotta check it out on the next visit
"We're not going to the Hill," but the first place you go is coffee on the Hill! And you didn't like it. Had you bothered to walk a block north on Marconi, you'd have gotten great coffee at Shaw's!
Adam's for ribs was definitely a good choice. It's where I go to set a standard for my own ribs at home.
The zoo is great! And yes it was smart to park south of the highway. The zoo is free, but the parking is dear!
Oh no! Imo's is NOT the place to go for StL style! There are so many places that serve a better pie.
Haha it was on our way from the airport, and. It had the highest rating of any coffee shop in town.
@@DoesntPayFullPrice I guess the algorthm isn't a coffee drinker, and has definately eaten Imo's!
You hit most of them... Except Gooey Butter Cake etc!
Next time
Park Ave coffee has a dozen or more kinds of gooey butter cake. not the best, but the most variety. And they are next to the chocolate bar too. (must have the signature chocolate martini there.) For Cafe Mocha, there is Bissingers. Unfortunately swe one closed and the mall one is just ok, but maybe they'll open another store one day. Oddly, I miss the mocha Borders used to have. Picassa in St. Charles is decent.
I would visit Little Italy in south side St, Louis. This is where you can get the best Italian foods and fresh Italian(real) bread. I know live in Kansas City and there is no place that has real Italian bread. HyVee, Walmart or any other store does not have Real Italian bread.
Is little Italy the same as "the hill". I've been there in the past. I love me some good Italian bread. Growing up in Boston it was everywhere
Best pizza in St. Louis by far is Pirrone's Pizza!
What style of pizza are they known for? NY, St Louis, Detroit?
@@DoesntPayFullPrice St. Louis style. Thin crust, provel cheese.
Check out Cafe Miami in Soulard for the best Cubano sandwich in town. And the best homemade key lime pie.
Oh man, now we're talking!
The cookies are alfajores ( al-fah-hoe-rehs) you actually did pretty well while trying to pronounce it!
Yes!!! Thanks you. Best cookies ever
Sir, Imo's is good. However, you need to try Farotto's in Rock Hill.
This is great info! I was trying to find someplace that wasn't a chain, but no luck
Try Farotto's in Rock Hill.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out on the next trip! Thanks for watching
Do they still add the top sauce on their pizzas?
I second this. Pizza is outstanding.
@@dlindo8892 thanks! It seems like this is gunna be a must try for the next time
Montebellos pizza i heard was really good.
Thanks! Ill check it out the next time I am in town
Also, Walmart, Price Choppers, and HyVee in Kansas City Now sells IMO’s Pizza. That is the best pizza ever. One thing though is that Price Choppers also sells the IMO’s cheese. So you get the cheese from Price Chipper and a cheese IMO’s pizza from Walmart, because it’s cheaper there, add more cheese to the pizza and let it get cannery yellow
Thanks for the pro tip. The cheese is so hard to find outside of st louis
Great video giving me ideas! I love Perennial Brewing but have never had Side Project. Going to have to try it. Press Pizza sounds wonderful, as well. Imo's is great for what it is; I love the crust, but as others have said, there are better STL-style pizzas out there.
I love perennial too, but side project is one of the best for sours and stouts. Let me know what you think when you go!
Side project literally started as a side project of one of perennial’s brewers around a decade or more ago. It took off and has been his main project since. @DoesntPayFullPrice check out Second Shift Brewing and Rockwell for mixed fermentation stuff next time. If you end up across the river in Illinois, come check out Old Bakery Beer in Alton (not for mixed, ferm, but a wide variety of beer, food, and the town in general.
@@dspangler777 Old Bakery has good beer and food, for sure.
@@dspangler777 I appreciate the beer recommendations! I've heard of second shift, but never been!
Try Celanos Pizzeria 5$ cheese pizza on tuesdays in florrissant 123 flower valley shopping center
Love that, thank you!
Next time you visit
Best BBQ - salt and smoke, their ribs are the best I've ever had, get them sweet "trashed"
Best coffee - Course coffee, get their pour over
Try Seoul Taco, get the steak burrito
Best doughnuts, Vincent Van Doughnut
This is great stuff! Thanks
@@DoesntPayFullPriceimo pappys and bogarts are the best stl bbq places ive had
@@DmoneyS44 I heard good things about both of those. I saw too many videos at pappy's so I opted to go some different
@@DoesntPayFullPriceMy favorite BBQ is out in st Charles county called heavy smoke. Salt and smoke is also great.
@@mattschmitt9924 I appreciate the recommendation, added to the list!
Press Pizza… maybe be good… but that’s not pizza….😊
Never heard of press pizza. I'll add it to the list, thanks for watching!
It’s not that great. I wonder who voted it number 1? They should have tried MonteBellos.
Mayonnaise on pizza? NOPE! A travesty! Sounds like chicago influencers! That just can't happen!
Damn, no Sugafire?
Not this time around. It looked really good tho
Cecil Whitaker has better pizza
Thanks!
For people who don't like provel on their pizza (not me) I find that getting a mix of provel and mozzarella, which most places will accommodate, will make them happy. Provel is an acquired taste.
It absolutely is an acquired taste, lol! That's a good pro tip.
Provel is the ONLY cheese to put on a real pizza, St. Louis style or not! The taste of Provel is fantastic!!!
@christopherrlayton8335 I agree with you but I know many people who refuse to eat it and this is a compromise. When I am with like minded individuals I always get provel only.
Glad you got around to StL style pizza eventually! Give Cecil Whittaker's a try. That is my personal favorite!
Never heard of it, I'll definitely have to check it out!
There is a hole in the wall Thai restaurant on Delmar that is awesome
I love a good Thai place, do u remember the name?
I can also vouch for this hole in the wall place that I can’t remember the name of 😂
What is your favorite St Louis food?
Easily Beast BBQ, their pork steaks are the best! Up Late also has the best late night food in the city and is open until 4 am!
@@hollow5677 great to know! I will def search them out next time!
@@hollow5677 atta boyyyyyyy, buddy of mine was actually the guy who opened up late. Great to see it’s gettin attention
Steve's Hotdogs (gourmet hotdogs and treats), My Marie (Caribbean soul food), Menya Ru (rated best ramen in the U.S.).
Thanks for the recommendations! Those sound right up my alley
The Charley Murphy 😅🤣🤣
It lived up to the name
Don’t sleep on Choquette.
That coffee shop was new there is a other shop on one lock down on Shaw which better.
Do you remember the name?
@@DoesntPayFullPrice Shaw Coffee Ltd.
If you like toasted ravioli, then you should try Bella Milano's next time.
I love toasted ravioli. Added to my list, thanks!
There’s a chain called BJ’s but the western burger or peanut butter something like that is SOOO GOOD. I got one in San Jose Cali but not nearly as good
They do a PB burger?! I'm in, that sounds awesome
I was actually just in Denver. Got myself some Blue Pan Detroit-style. Pretty good!
In my opinion, Pie Guy Pizza is the best in STL. I also live just a few blocks from Coffestamp. I love that place.
Oh hell ya! I love blue pan, very good choice. It's between them, outside pizza and redeemer for best pizza in denver
BEST zoo ever!
I may have to agree with you
Bogart's is the best without question
Next time I'm in town I'll have to check it out and see who comes out on top
What do u get there?
@@DoesntPayFullPrice They have the best ribs in Saint louis
Im sorry press pizza im sure you pizza is amazing but this isn’t California pizza kitchen. If your pizza looks like a vegan pizza taco im not eating there.
Hahaha, it was pretty dang good tho
Imos is good but for a thin crust gets expensive. Sausage and Bacon is a staple as they put bacon strips on the pizza instead of bacon pieces, or bacon pepperoni and mushroom is another area favorite. Its not st louis pizza but honestly my favorite places are Joes Pizza and Jets Pizza.
There is a place in st louis called twisted ranch and its known for all the types of ranch sauce and you can dip fries in. Its really good.
Crown Candy for their monster BLT sandwich and Ice Cream/shakes/sundaes.
Lotawata Creek across the river into Fairview Heights IL just 15 miles across the river into IL is really great sit down restaurant and they give so many fries you'll think they made a mistake but they have a whole potato room just for potatoes to cut and make into fries every day. (Fried Mac N Cheese burger and the Heart Attack Burgers are great)
Great Thai / Asian Fusion place in Fairview Heights called Tong Phoon. and a great Sushi place called Sushi Tatsu (the traffic on the IL side is easier to navigate lol.
Never thought it’d run into a comment about sushi tatsu on UA-cam lol. I’m gonna have to check out that Asian fusion place sometime soon! As far as traffic is concerned, it is definitely more manageable on this side of the river, but Fairview may be my least favorite places to drive in the whole metro east 😂.
All these places sound 🔥. I'm glad to see the food scene in St Louis is finally taking off! Thank for the recs.
You didn’t pick the best places I can’t lie. Brotha goes to the Lou and he ain’t get a St. Paul or gioas and you didn’t even go to Anheuser-Busch.
Anheuser Busch 😂 = 🔥 🗑️
AB is garbage. 4 hands brewery is the best beer in STL.
pizza champ is up there for sure if ya want quality new york pizza in STL
Oh nice, thanks!
Get some Chinese food next time!
I love me some Chinese food
There’s no such thing as good coffee.
Oh
Provel tastes like velveeta.
I wish
I suggest you get on I-70 and go west for 250 miles. KC is a much better culinary town, in my opinion, than St. Louis.
Kc is a great town. Love it there
you are the rib the wrong way im gonna have to dislike and not watch now have a good one
How did u eat it wrong?
STL style pizza is disgusting. Not sure why it caught on there.
It's definitely different
Imo's is trash
It's not as bad as I remembered
I'm not saying it's the best pizza in St Louis, but its definitely a staple and a good starting point for St Louis style pizza
It's trash.
St.Louis pizza is ass. Not being mean. Being honest. Provel is straight up garbage.
Hahaha
You don't want St Louis style pizza!!! It's nasty, and it's not pizza. The crust recipe is exactly the same as saltine crackers.
Hahaha, it's that provel cheese that throws it off for me
@@DoesntPayFullPrice It's not even cheese!! They add chemicals to milk and pull out the solid that they call cheese. It is not produced with a culture. I know mozzarella isn't either. The texture is horrible. The pizza was a massive culture shock when we moved here.
I much prefer St. Louis Style Pizza with Provel cheese. Number one reason, not as greasy as other pizza types. Second, I never acquired the appetite for the dough ball soup that's served in chicago, masquerading as deep dish. It just doesn't have any appeal to eat cold, uncooked ingredients swimming over under cooked dough! Disgustingly dangerous!
@@christopherrlayton8335 what about a good Neapolitan, or ny style, or Detroit?
I would not go to St. Louis unless I have no other choice.
Hahaha, I used to think that too. I feel like there are some legit food places now.
