I was skunked for 3 years straight I watched your videos and actually started catching fish thanks for the advice and keep going your helping people out there 🎣🦅
I was guilty of bringing way too many baits. I've simplified it and the past 2 years landed more bass. Colors...I'm in Northeast Ohio and black, red shad, green pumpkin, watermelon are my go-to. Variations with those colors are any combination of green, gold, red and purple flakes. Great tips, Vince, thanks!
I agree with you when you say the best two times to fish are in the morning, and early evening. But you and I know as Florida residents, we have to watch out for Mr. Gator especially in the spring. And I always carry too much gear to fish the bank. Some days I don't have enough patience to fish only two or three colors if none of them are working. Thanks BFV ✌🎣
You hit the nail on the head with the 2 best colors. One thing I would like to add, when fishing tidal waters, tides are important, a moving tide sometimes triggers fish activity. I prefer the high tide, some prefer the low tide, and as you fish the tides, you will learn in your area, if the morning or the evening tides are best.
Here first. Great video. Lots of good knowledge. Made me feel bad bc you are right I be spending money on too many colors/variations. Gotta keep it simple
Thank you so much for your help! All the pro’s show you how to catch fish from a boat. Good stuff but what about us bank anglers? You’re the answer to my prayers! Thanks again.
I'm on the opposite corner of the country in Oregon. Those tips of yours seem to work for the whole country. I would add another color option in though. Crazy. Something like fire tiger or hot pink
I live in Nebraska, we have bass but the weather here is hard to adjust to fishing wise. It gets super hot during the summer/early fall, then the temp drops like today where it was a low of 30 and a high of 60. Snow is coming soon as well, and it hard for me to find the correct baits to throw on certain days. If all else fails I go to the drop shot where I do have some success but not consistently. Not many lakes around me just ponds that have heavy traffic.
One thing i have always resorted to when the bass around are not interested in my lure, is to throw some live bait out there and i guarantee that you will get bit i know for a fact. (*Virginia fishing*) also bright red works around here in va mostly because of the crawdads have that bright red color
Dude, I use a 6' Medium St Croix rod with a 3000 series Daiwa reel all day and, I can stroke that jig off the bottom like nobody's business. Catch them all day too.I don't use lipless baits, lost all 5 already to the bottom! Swim jig casted out, Texas rigged craw casted out and a drop shot. Don't need anything else! Only dealing with bass up to 6 pounds where I'm at.
T-rigs and dropshots are definitely great for spinning combos But my brother, when talking about jigs, casting isn’t the problem with spinning combos it’s more so not being able to pop that jig free when it get caught in grass for a reaction bite. The 2nd problem is if you hook anything that’s with size (3+lbs) that fish will have more control than you with a short medium rod and if you are near structure the fish will more then likely get you wrapped in it and break off. 3rd, you will lose more bass than you will land when trying to drive a heavy wire hook with a medium rod during the hookset. You simply get more power with a beefier backbone. Pros preach about this stuff I’m not just making stuff up To eaches own of course but I’ve seen my brother fish jigs on spinning rods and lose many fish while I’m next to him pulling them in on a baitcaster medium heavy combo with more backbone strength. I know that every state isn’t going to hold bass as big as Florida but there are definitely bass big enough to need a medium heavy rod for certain techniques
Let's understand the logics or your regions I'm fishing and what are you fishing for. Example an northern largemouth lives differently than a southern bass. Smallest are different than largest. More finesse style up north and predominantly power style down south. And sometimes you can diversify your styles in various locations. #tightlines
Mh spinning rods are harder to find. Also, I own a mh spinning combo if you paid attention to my recent video on the water you’ll see how easily it bends because it still has a fast action tip and is generally made for lighter lures. The average specs for mh spinning rods for lures is generally 1/8-3/16oz which leans more on the finesse side. My mh bait caster specs are 1/4oz-1oz with a moderate tip so that doesn’t have as much bend and give me more control when fighting fish or popping lures free of structure/grass At the end of the day a fish can be caught with any rod or even a stick if you’re lucky enough but this video is to help people maximize their effectiveness and to help people consistently catch and land more bass
right now all the bass in my local lakes are hammering shad up top. they group them up into massive schools and just go to town all day. I haven't been able to get them on anything. Swimbaits, jigs, worms, diving lures, top water lures; they're just not buying what I'm selling.
We all had days like this. It’s unfortunate but we have to keep trying, some days will be better than others and vice versa but it’s all part of the experience. I had someone tell me it’s that’s why it’s called fishing not catching 🎣 tight lines! 💯
Bankfish r u against using live bait? Like minnows or shad. If bass are doing what he says isn't it more likely to have luck with what they are feeding on.. my last fishing trip I was targeting blue gill and brim and I saw what appears to be bass doing just what he says and a few people on a boat close by throwing every lure not getting anything..I thought to my self I wish I had some minnows but again I wasn't there for bass my gf loves frying blue gill and I caught about 10 and called it a day but I plan on going back and trying live minnows.
Me personally, I don’t use live bait unless I’m fishing worms for pan fish. I always enjoyed the challenge of making a fish bite. I get bored easily just sitting and waiting so it’s not for me lol but I have nothing against it though sometimes i like to do a food chain challenge and catch some bream and throw them back out on the hook for something bigger
@@BankFishVince Awesome! I lived in Panam City for a long time and recently moved to Orlando. Keep up the work I think your content is more helpful to newbie anglers than a lot of pages these days.
If he had a really good kayak rigged out right he would kill it! He definitely take over UA-cam fishing with his way of explaining things from start to finish. Get him off the bank with his views it’s over for the others.
@@BankFishVince I didn't do so well today I caught 7 on a jerkbait and a crankbait but the spot I go to is starting to turn over i was also trying a magdraft for the first time

🫡💯 what’s a good size bait caster? I gotta find a good spot. A lot of private ponds around me but by the time I find one that I can get in with permission it’s already been fished out pretty good. No luck at the lakes as far as monsters but a few 1-2lbers. I need to come to Florida
90% of freshwater Baitcasters are all the same size which is typically a size 100. I’d recommend any Lew’s reel, my favorite is the speed spool, or abu Garcia silver maxx for budget prices. We definitely got some bigs in Florida with yo name on them
Hey Vince, thank you for lookin out for us bank anglers. I really appreciate everything you do on your channel.
Keep up the good work. Stay up bro.
