- This is a video from me, DarkspinesSonic A.K.A Da1AndOnlySonic, showing an S-Rank battle against Hard Mode Shadow the Hedgehog on Sonic Generations for the PS3. This is one of many S-Rank videos to come for Sonic's 20th Anniversary celebration video game, which will include every act as well as every boss and rival (both on hard mode). Enjoy! ^_^

I love how Sonic just dodges all the chaos spears on the floor and shadow just appears and says chaos control instead of chaos spear

This Shadow boss battle actually made me like shadow even more. I can only imagine him being playable again but this time he has a boost just like sonic

His hover shoes allow him to skate and fly
I wish Shadow had gotten a stronger attack when he got the power cores...the spears were horribly easy to dodge and the meteor barrage Sonic got was overpowered =_=;

Shadow actually says something similar about Sonic when fighting the Biolizard as the as the Final Hazard at the end of SA2

@Krisdix Why would you not get a game based on a single character's voice, who only has one real line in the whole game? That's pretty bad if you ask me.
did you know that:
if you press at 2:39 - 2:41 the x and the square botton many times you can do some things:
first sonic jumps (before he get this purple boost) and then he you can get the blue boost
(or the blue boost and if you stop pressing the square botton it changes into purple)
or you can get a blue boost and after a time you can win against shadow without a boost
(ps. sorry for my bad english , and sorry if i cant explain it :P )

I wish the charging in to him part wasn't so easy. It makes the boss fight a lot shorter.

this was my favorite fight in all of sonic adventure 2 and generations i would just run for ever een tho i coukd have been beat dhadow just to hear the music and the intensity it was dope on both sides just mad we couldnt use chaos control lol unless multiplayer

Do you remember how Shadow looked in SA2 when he reached top speed? He looked like he was completely spazzing out. I think this animation looks more natural.

I think this one is easier than the normal mode, I instantly had a S-rank with this one and struggled with normal mode XD.
Best sonic level ever
Now, what I think would have made the experience overall a bit better and more nostalgic is if they included sonic wind to rival the chaos spear. ^^ It would make alot more sense than blasting meteors at shadow...lol But thats just a consistency issue for me. Its alright like this I guess.

@Krisdix That's still not a reason to not buy the game. Shadow only has one line in the whole game! And his grunts actually sound pretty good in this boss fight IMO.

yeah I accidentally reset the game so I played through it twice

Sonic had to have beaten Shadow on Space Colony Arc final battle.
It would explain Shadow sulking later, and Sonic isn't dead. Shadow was fighting to kill.

I played this boss a hundred times and I had no idea Shadow used Chaos Spear lol
poor shadow sonic gets homing rocks and all he gets is glowing lighbulbs

@krisjj859 remember the moon wasnt destroyed, just one part of it was blown to hell. so basically they were facing the side of the moon WITHOUT the gaping hole.

@EkajTheSwordsman Not necessarily. If they wanted to have more input from the players in attacking, that doesn't mean that Sonic Wind can't be made for such things. They can make Sonic Wind more interactive with the player if they wanted to.

@TreeImpedimate Eggman and Robotnik are the same person. You probably mean Gerald Robotnik which is his grandfather and the one who made Shadow.
@highlander5523 y'know they have the original songs as unlockables in the game so you can make it play those instead of the remixes. Jus puttin' that out there
I don't understand anything then because that's exactly what I'm doing and it lasts more than half an hour, the fight NEVER stops
And theres no 2 player race mode because?

Modern Sonic plays like in Unleashed, but in Colors-type levels. It's actually a mix 2D/3D platforming, quick side stepping, and running on walls and stuff.
I did hard mode for rank S by first trying. It was too easy
Anybody else feel like Shadow was a complete pushover in this game even on hard mode?
Except that the time it takes for the moon to rotate completely on its axis is the same as the time it takes for it to revolve completely around the earth.
In short, we always see the exact same side of the moon.
THE NEXT SONIC GAME HAS TO LET SHADOW BE A PLAYABLE CHARACTER D:!

The music is boss.
I know that Sonic Team is scared of "diversifying gameplay" now, but why the hell haven't they tried giving Shadow and other fast characters the boost gameplay yet? The boss battle shows Shadow is capable of keeping up with Sonic, and even using the same boost technique. So why not have Shadow playable on occasion just for a bit of variety?
TheZeroNeonix Funny enough, Cream is seen keeping up with Sonic in one of the missions.
Probably because they were also scared of giving other characters the spotlight instead of Sonic; I think that was another criticism of the series, having other characters steal the spotlight from Sonic despite the series being called "Sonic the Hedgehog." I'm pretty sure Sonic Forces will go back to that diversification, though.
You might get your wish in Sonic Forces. I believe I saw that as part of the Episode Shadow DLC, he will be playable for all of Sonic's modern stages
