Hello, you guys have helped me to start my planted tank . Several years back. I was wondering why my plants are struggling, and I recently pulled the trigger and bought a CO2 dual regulator for my planted aquarium. I’ve never looked back. My plants look amazing and now I’m able to sell to my local fish store for credit . 🌱 . Not everyone has money to do this but it’s a great investment!! Thanks asd

Ive sort of winged my first tank, threw flourish in it, some root tabs, used Fluval stratum substrate, and now the tank won't stop producing new plants. It's a six gallon cube with a Betta and some snails, but I've had to start a new tank just to throw the other plants into. I have to remove about 5 cryptid wendettes a month, trim my pearl weed weekly, and the only thing I really struggle with is my anubis, which isn't sickly by any means, it just doesn't grow much. It's roots are very happy though, so I try not to mess with it. I don't know what to recommend to anyone, or how I've done it, but I have a happy, abundant tank of plants, and I hope this video helps anyone struggling have one too, because it is awesome!
Actually, quick edit just to add the fact that my tank is now 4 years old! So do believe time is an important factor to plants, so have patience. Most plants you get are just babies and are too busy with their roots to be bothered growing upwards or outwards. Good luck! :]

Thanks for that edit. It's a good point that getting plants from a store probably means your plant is young. That's a good way to think about them.

My first aquascaping aquarium, an Oase ScaperLine 90...for several months I used tap water since my water is light with a KH 3 and GH 6...one day while I was at work they had done maintenance on the condominium's water system...in the evening I did a weekly 50% change as I was used to doing...that day all the fish were afloat and I had to throw away everything that was inside the aquarium (more or less €300 between fish, plants, furnishings)...that was the last time I used tap water before switching to the reverse osmosis system...

Another underrated part about planted aquariums is water flow. Water flow keeps detritus from building up at the bottom of the tank which can potentially lead to nitrogen deficiency) and instead suspends them in the water column for your filter to take in. Also, water flow assists in the distribution of CO2 and nutrients more reliably reaching dead spots or somewhat isolated areas of your aquarium. Not to mention, it will be harder for algae to spread onto plants, as there’s no power source (fish poop/plant decay/etc) sitting on your plants to promote their growth.

There are several reasons why growing healthy aquatic plants can be challenging. First, water quality plays a huge role in their health-plants need the right balance of nutrients, oxygen, and pH levels. If the water is too murky, too rich in nutrients (like nitrogen or phosphorus), or has poor circulation, it can hinder plant growth. Second, inadequate light is a major factor. Aquatic plants rely on sunlight for photosynthesis, and if they're not getting enough light (due to shading or poor water clarity), they can't thrive. Lastly, temperature and water movement are also critical-extreme temperatures or strong currents can stress plants. Without maintaining the ideal conditions, it's difficult for aquatic plants to grow healthy and strong. 14:33
