Why doesn’t she just wear the four medals that she won instead of just wearing one gold medal? I don’t get it. I understand they’re heavy on her, but it doesn’t make any sense.
Because they scuff when they hit each other and people can really only hold and wear one gold medal if you’re letting everyone touch and take pictures with it.
She’s starting to get on my nerves really because somebody can set a goal, but it doesn’t always happen for them. She’s super unrealistic when she just keeps saying just keep trying sometimes when people keep trying it’s inevitable. They will never become successful no matter what and it sucks so stop planting fall seeds and someone. There are several variables here as someone could have neuro developmental issues, financial instability, etc you can’t say to everyone that “it’s good to dream big” because for a handful people, the outcome won’t be what they had hoped it to be. She doesn’t have a clue on life experiences. She is so inside her bubble that she just doesn’t get it. And that’s unfair to people because so many people look up to her and are inspired by her so they’ll just take her word for it but then they may become blindsided by the negative outcome. Think about it, if she didn’t win any medals in Paris, she would be the laughing stock and everyone would hate her and make fun of her. That’s a whole nother level of different perspective there!
It’s still good to dream big regardless of the outcome. It’s what you learn about yourself in the process, it’s going further than you would have otherwise. The version of you who gets in and swims a lap is still lapping the person who decided not to move off the couch. As my favorite quote goes, “Action does not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.”
@@aquajoshI agree with you, actions are better than doing nothing at all. But i do see the original post point. Environnement and privilege can set up someone to success. It's not self pity to acknowledge the fact that no matter how hard somebody can try, they will just never make it. It's not an excuse to give up though, at least give yourself the chance to say you tried your best. We all owe ourselves that.
Katie is an inspiration in and out of the pool.
This is a nice interview
