As a former baker and food scientist I am fascinated by this video and the way you're describing these vanillas. I am super familiar with different vanillas both real botanical species and the various synthetic vanillas. I'm not a perfume person due to a mix of weird allergies and sensitivity. Most perfumes just smell like alcohol to me (which is one of the things I have a severe sensitivity to) but hearing the descriptions and comparing it to what I know about the various usages of vanilla in commercial goods has been really fun
Have you ever tried perfume oils? They tend to sit much closer to the skin and are not going to have alcohol unless it is one of the scent notes. You'd need to verify that the carrier oil doesn't have an allergen, though.

I love the drydown of Eilish and I'm planning to pick it up. The longevity is INSANE. I put it on my wrist at the store yesterday, around 3pm. It's now almost 9pm, I can still faintly smell it and I could clearly smell it about an hour ago. That's 29h from ONE spritz on my wrist.
It lasts forever if you spray on your clothes. I sprayed it on my short yesterday morning at 7:30 AM, fell asleep when I got home wearing the same shirt, woke up and the scent is still there.
The timing, haha. I just bought By the Fireplace and am in love! I was never into vanillas but I'm going to have to start exploring a bit more. Thanks again for the great content!
I love dior hypnotic poison. Vanilla, amber, almond, coconut. It's super mainstream so I'm sure you've already smelled it, but I love the scent memories tied to it, as I wore it a lot in my early twenties. For me, its a great fragrance for this time of year because the coconut pulls summery and all the darker bits go more fall.

My nose can't wait to sniff! Before I got into fragrance I thought the difference between an edp and an edt was in like alcohol content or something. I didn't know they're entirely different! The more you know....lol.
Dior hypnotic poison is my signature, forever a standby, my go to when I want to smell good perfume. I need to know if there are any other perfumes that smell similar because it's my favorite and although it's an edt it lasts pretty long on me

Vanilla is my favorite scent for EVERYTHING! I was never able to wear perfume bc it hurt my head so bad, but something changed idk what and I was able to use the NEST Madagascar Vanilla and Ariana Grande God Is A Woman w/o a problem and I'm just so happy I can enjoy perfume a little bit, your videos help me explore so many scents that I can hopefully try now!!

My husband is also sensitive to scent and he loves my perfume. I have four main scents and a sample: Vanille Coco, Vanille Banane layered, amour de cacao and Vanille cafe layered, and a sample of vanille blackberry.
I agree with the by the fireplace, it's a lovely scent. I tried a perfume called Santal Vanille yesterday at Sephora and omg, it's so good, I'm thinking of buying full bottle.

For straight up vanilla, I'm all over Flick by Hexennacht which the creator says consists of every single vanilla bean in her collection. Sucreabeille's Oddling, Strangeling, and Foundling are also excellent, with high percentages of vanilla absolute. I am currently enjoying Eilish a lot, though the bottle is a bitch to hold IMHO. I like the whiff of vanilla and Play Doh (amber + orange) that I get from it and find it's comforting.
Omg Orchidee Vanille is my all time favorite scent!!! I can barely detect the floral notes. To me it's SUCH a gourmand fragrance. It smells soooo edible! I think it's the tonka notes that are so prominent (at least to my nose). So funny how we all experience the same fragrances so differently. The way everyone describes This is Her by Z&V, I thought I'd love it & to me it just smells overly masculine & not at all sweet. So strange! Anyway, I love the way you describe scents & how excited you get about them. Definitely subscribing :)
Vanillas are my favorite, and I had the same first impression of By The Fireplace as you: I thought it smelled like an ashtray and I couldn’t understand why people liked it. When I tried it again, I fell in love! Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere is also a fave, as is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - maybe you can include that one in your fall fragrance review.

Vanilla is my favorite note in fragrances! Tihota is a favorite, I'll always keep a bottle. I just ordered Philosophy Cream Cashmere on sale form Ulta, need to try it. I only like lavender pillow spray at bedtime. I have Love and Crime and VCA's Orchidee Vanille and they are bomb vanillas!! Enjoyed the video!

My favorite vanilla scents are from Comptoir Sud Pacifique. It’s a French brand but they have a website for the U.S. and shipping is fast. Top four: Vanille Coco, Vanille Banane, Amour de Cacao, and Vanille Cafe. They also have a regular vanilla and an intense vanilla.
Love listening to you in all your videos but especially your perfume vids. Definitely please keep doing them. I've gotten back into fragrances recently and have made a lot of purchases (a lot of blind buys that all turned out great! Turns out I have a good sense of note combos). Hi Lauren, I couldn’t agree more with your pics! Indult Tihota is one of my all time favs. I also love Guerlain Double Vanille for a more boozy vibe. You may want to give a sniff to Casmir by Chopard. It’s an oldie and you can get it on the cheap. It’s vanilla and some floral but it’s intricate and intoxicating to me. A true compliment getter! Nothing to lose at its low price!
Casmir by Chopard was my first fragrance love/ride or die for ages but then discontinued. I’ve seen that you can buy it but was worried that those would be old or counterfeit.
I love philosophy fresh cream warm cashmere. It’s not overwhelming for my allergies and doesn’t cause a headache. I’m so sensitive to perfumes and I love this one.
I love most if not all of the ones you mentioned. I would definitely add Vanilla Woods by 7 virtues, Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford and Goddess by Burberry!

People always talk about By the fireplace but rarely about Whisper in the library which is a very nice woody vanilla, have you tried that one? A little boozy too, at least to my nose, reminds me of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon.
I can’t believe you also grabbed the vanille scent from Anthropologie. I bought it two years ago and I haven’t touched it since because I didn’t smell it in store. I fully bought it thinking I could use it as a room fragrance but I can’t even do that. It’s so sweet. I just sprayed it on the back of my hand and I totally agree with you and now can’t stop smelling the cotton candy. I also picked up Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere during the Ulta sale and I love it. It oddly reminds me of my memory of Bath & Body Works’ warm vanilla sugar. I doubt that they actually smell similar-I haven’t had the chance to compare- but in my head that’s what it brings me back to. Like 6th grade mall trips with my friends, fawning over their blue Art Stuff Roll-On Glitter.
My favourite vanilla fragrance is Dior Hypnotic Poison (the EDT version, not EDP). It is also quite popular/classic perfume, so I was kinda surprised it wasn't on your list, either as likes or dislikes.
That was my signature perfume from 2010-2013 and I had to take a perfume break because I developed migraines but now that I’ve gone back to wearing perfumes, I swear they changed it. It smells so much more powder-y to me now.
@@stephmgreen Are you sure you tried the correct one? They have a few versions now. Eau de toilette, eau de perfume, eau sensuelle, eau secrete, extrait de perfume... It has become trickly to find the original one :)
@@berlineczka I’m 90% sure it was the EDT. I used to buy the EDT and I’m almost certain that’s what they had at Ulta as a tester. It might just be me but I swear I can’t seem to enjoy any “traditional” aka mass marketed scents the way I used to. The only “older” scent I smelled and still love is Burberry Brit.

If you like sweet perfumes you should def check out the Profumum Roma. They’re ridiculously expensive but they’re an established family in Rome and their perfumes are incredible- def try sorriso and they have a sugar one? Lucky scent doesn’t 4$ samples!

I'm totally a By the Fireplace convert. Like you, I initially did not like it and thought it smelled like I rolled in burnt marshmallows but now I really enjoy it. I think you said in another video you're not a fan of this scent, but I really like Atelier Vanille Insensee for vanilla scents.

I've fallen in love with a few vanillas that I think are just so beautiful. Vanillade by Maison Tahite is one of my more recent full bottle vanilla purchases. I think it's a really lovely, well-blended fragrance. It's spicy and has patchouli, but it's done right, and I usually don't wear patchouli. 2) Le Labo Vanille 44 is so special. I love the grassy/woody/incense vibe it gives coupled with the aldehydes. 3) Bohoboco Vanilla Black Pepper - this one actually reminds me of Le Labo's Vanille, but a lighter, more airy version with a touch of spice from the pepper. 4) Il Profumo Vanille Bourbon - I smell like a bakery when I wear this. Love the heliotrope. And the bottle is gorgeous.

I literally bought this after getting a tester swatch from a magazine 😂 At first it scared me once I received the bottle, because of the deep smoke, now I love it. You are so right about what a great mixer it is too. Tobacco Vanille.. I love it.. not year round though. It also mixes really well. I appreciate the way you talk about these fragrances.

New follower here! Huge vanilla fan myself and have many of these. By the way, the notes for Tihota on fragrantica are wrong! The real notes are "Highest grade Tahitian vanilla, muscovado, cane sugar, cream, almond milk accord, Tonka bean, benzoin absolute, Palo Santo, white woods, white musk, and amber" (this is from the Insult website)!
Imaginary Authors, Memoirs of a Tresspasser. It's the BETTER version of By the Fireplace. It's warmer, riched, and less smokey. I'm on my third bottle.
so funny you mention by the fireplace. I love it, and I never understood why I love it. having vanilla hint in the base makes sense. its such a different scent for me to wear but I constantly use it and mix it.

i recently purchased the Eilish one and i find it so sweet! i'm not sure how i feel about it yet as i've only had it for a few days now but to me it smells like a kind of spicy chocolate with a punch of red berries. at least for the first hour and then it settles down and you can smell more of the vanilla. i prefer it after that hour has passed tbh. initially i find its way too sweet and spicy for me which is bizarre cause i love over the top sweet scents but yeah
Yog Nog from Lush is amazing!! It’s kinda hard to find but that is one I would definitely check out!! I also really like Macarons from Kyse! It has a Cherry note in the top but I get a kind eggy custard sweetness from it also! :)
I put on Eilish after I put on Jazz Club (I'd put it on hours before and forgot) and they smelled really good together. Jazz Club had worn down a little but it was still noticeable under Eilish. I like Eilish by itself but I agree that it's too sweet.
I don’t have a lot of experience with vanilla perfumes, so I really enjoyed watching your video and hearing about the ones you’ve mentioned. I saw someone else already suggested Nest Madagascar vanilla and you like it. I like that one, particularly for layering with more woody and musky scents. I also quite like commodity gold and skylar vanilla sky. I definitely thought by the fireplace smelled like a campfire but I only sniffed it. Next time I go to Sephora I’ll have to apply it and see how it develops on my skin. Can’t wait to see your fall picks!!
I totally agree with you Philosophy Sweet Cream Warm cashmere is the bomb. I have gotten my daughter and cousin hooked on it. I have gone thur 6 bottles over the years. It’s like my daily scent. During Xmas time Ulta has a Holiday pack, I always pick 1 or 2 up.
Lauren you need to try Vanillac Dreams from Dua Fragrances I believe it’s suppose to be a dupe of the Tihota fragrance. Either way it smells sooooo amazingly sweet! It reminds me of my Nemat Vanilla musk but stronger, I adore both! Love scent sunday 😊
I love By the Fireplace so much. ♥️🔥 The Billie Eilish perfume is a bit confusing to me, I don't know why. I don't own it, but I have smelled it in store multiple times. Still can't decide if I like it or not. Your comparison with Pink Sugar made me lean towards no even more, because that fragrance is repulsive to me, I don't say it lightly, but I found that one absolutely disgusting.
You're 100% right about "Milk". I almost bought the Ellis Milk today. It smelled good on the paper, but when I sprayed it on my wrist, it literally smelled like smoke! I was so disappointed that being said I absolutely LOVE Philosophy Warm Cashmere.
You and I have very similar scent preferences, so I think you’ll love PNK PWR by Victoria’s Secret. It’s a super yummy vanilla body spray! I get mine on Poshmark since they don’t sell it anymore but it’s my all time fav🤤
My current favourite vanilla is Zara’s A sweet pastry in Paris. It truly smells like lemon tart with vanilla custard. To my nose anyway. I was extremely lucky to buy this off depop last week. 😍xxxx oh and I love love This is her. I’m on my second bottle. Xxx

I was never able to wear perfume bc it hurt my head so bad, but something changed idk what and I was able to use the NEST Madagascar Vanilla and Ariana Grande God Is A Woman w/o a problem and I'm just so happy I can enjoy perfume a little bit, your videos help me explore so many scents that I can hopefully try now!!

My husband is also sensitive to scent and he loves my perfume. I have four main scents and a sample: Vanille Coco, Vanille Banane layered, amour de cacao and Vanille cafe layered, and a sample of vanille blackberry.

For straight up vanilla, I'm all over Flick by Hexennacht which the creator says consists of every single vanilla bean in her collection. Sucreabeille's Oddling, Strangeling, and Foundling are also excellent, with high percentages of vanilla absolute. I am currently enjoying Eilish a lot, though the bottle is a bitch to hold IMHO. I like the whiff of vanilla and Play Doh (amber + orange) that I get from it and find it's comforting.
Omg Orchidee Vanille is my all time favorite scent!!! I can barely detect the floral notes. To me it's SUCH a gourmand fragrance. It smells soooo edible! I think it's the tonka notes that are so prominent (at least to my nose). So funny how we all experience the same fragrances so differently. The way everyone describes This is Her by Z&V, I thought I'd love it & to me it just smells overly masculine & not at all sweet. So strange! Anyway, I love the way you describe scents & how excited you get about them. Definitely subscribing :)
Vanillas are my favorite, and I had the same first impression of By The Fireplace as you: I thought it smelled like an ashtray and I couldn’t understand why people liked it. When I tried it again, I fell in love! Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere is also a fave, as is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - maybe you can include that one in your fall fragrance review.

Vanilla is my favorite note in fragrances! Tihota is a favorite, I'll always keep a bottle. I just ordered Philosophy Cream Cashmere on sale form Ulta, need to try it. I only like lavender pillow spray at bedtime. I have Love and Crime and VCA's Orchidee Vanille and they are bomb vanillas!! Enjoyed the video!

My favorite vanilla scents are from Comptoir Sud Pacifique. It’s a French brand but they have a website for the U.S. and shipping is fast. Top four: Vanille Coco, Vanille Banane, Amour de Cacao, and Vanille Cafe. They also have a regular vanilla and an intense vanilla.

Hi Lauren, I couldn’t agree more with your pics! Indult Tihota is one of my all time favs. I also love Guerlain Double Vanille for a more boozy vibe. You may want to give a sniff to Casmir by Chopard. It’s an oldie and you can get it on the cheap. It’s vanilla and some floral but it’s intricate and intoxicating to me. A true compliment getter! Nothing to lose at its low price!
Casmir by Chopard was my first fragrance love/ride or die for ages but then discontinued. I’ve seen that you can buy it but was worried that those would be old or counterfeit.
I love philosophy fresh cream warm cashmere. It’s not overwhelming for my allergies and doesn’t cause a headache. I’m so sensitive to perfumes and I love this one.

People always talk about By the fireplace but rarely about Whisper in the library which is a very nice woody vanilla, have you tried that one? A little boozy too, at least to my nose, reminds me of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon.
I can’t believe you also grabbed the vanille scent from Anthropologie. I bought it two years ago and I haven’t touched it since because I didn’t smell it in store. I fully bought it thinking I could use it as a room fragrance but I can’t even do that. It’s so sweet. I just sprayed it on the back of my hand and I totally agree with you and now can’t stop smelling the cotton candy. I also picked up Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere during the Ulta sale and I love it. It oddly reminds me of my memory of Bath & Body Works’ warm vanilla sugar. I doubt that they actually smell similar-I haven’t had the chance to compare- but in my head that’s what it brings me back to. Like 6th grade mall trips with my friends, fawning over their blue Art Stuff Roll-On Glitter.
My favourite vanilla fragrance is Dior Hypnotic Poison (the EDT version, not EDP). It is also quite popular/classic perfume, so I was kinda surprised it wasn't on your list, either as likes or dislikes.
That was my signature perfume from 2010-2013 and I had to take a perfume break because I developed migraines but now that I’ve gone back to wearing perfumes, I swear they changed it. It smells so much more powder-y to me now.
@@stephmgreen Are you sure you tried the correct one? They have a few versions now. Eau de toilette, eau de perfume, eau sensuelle, eau secrete, extrait de perfume... It has become trickly to find the original one :)

It might just be me but I swear I can’t seem to enjoy any “traditional” aka mass marketed scents the way I used to. The only “older” scent I smelled and still love is Burberry Brit.

If you like sweet perfumes you should def check out the Profumum Roma. They’re ridiculously expensive but they’re an established family in Rome and their perfumes are incredible- def try sorriso and they have a sugar one? Lucky scent doesn’t 4$ samples!

I'm totally a By the Fireplace convert. Like you, I initially did not like it and thought it smelled like I rolled in burnt marshmallows but now I really enjoy it. I think you said in another video you're not a fan of this scent, but I really like Atelier Vanille Insensee for vanilla scents.

I've fallen in love with a few vanillas that I think are just so beautiful. Vanillade by Maison Tahite is one of my more recent full bottle vanilla purchases. I think it's a really lovely, well-blended fragrance. It's spicy and has patchouli, but it's done right, and I usually don't wear patchouli. 2) Le Labo Vanille 44 is so special. I love the grassy/woody/incense vibe it gives coupled with the aldehydes. 3) Bohoboco Vanilla Black Pepper - this one actually reminds me of Le Labo's Vanille, but a lighter, more airy version with a touch of spice from the pepper. 4) Il Profumo Vanille Bourbon - I smell like a bakery when I wear this. Love the heliotrope. And the bottle is gorgeous.

New follower here! Huge vanilla fan myself and have many of these. By the way, the notes for Tihota on fragrantica are wrong! The real notes are "Highest grade Tahitian vanilla, muscovado, cane sugar, cream, almond milk accord, Tonka bean, benzoin absolute, Palo Santo, white woods, white musk, and amber" (this is from the Insult website)!

i recently purchased the Eilish one and i find it so sweet! i'm not sure how i feel about it yet as i've only had it for a few days now but to me it smells like a kind of spicy chocolate with a punch of red berries. at least for the first hour and then it settles down and you can smell more of the vanilla. i prefer it after that hour has passed tbh. initially i find its way too sweet and spicy for me which is bizarre cause i love over the top sweet scents but yeah

Yog Nog from Lush is amazing!! It’s kinda hard to find but that is one I would definitely check out!! I also really like Macarons from Kyse! It has a Cherry note in the top but I get a kind eggy custard sweetness from it also! :)

I put on Eilish after I put on Jazz Club (I'd put it on hours before and forgot) and they smelled really good together. Jazz Club had worn down a little but it was still noticeable under Eilish. I like Eilish by itself but I agree that it's too sweet.

I don’t have a lot of experience with vanilla perfumes, so I really enjoyed watching your video and hearing about the ones you’ve mentioned. I saw someone else already suggested Nest Madagascar vanilla and you like it. I like that one, particularly for layering with more woody and musky scents. I also quite like commodity gold and skylar vanilla sky. I definitely thought by the fireplace smelled like a campfire but I only sniffed it. Next time I go to Sephora I’ll have to apply it and see how it develops on my skin. Can’t wait to see your fall picks!!
I totally agree with you Philosophy Sweet Cream Warm cashmere is the bomb. I have gotten my daughter and cousin hooked on it. I have gone thur 6 bottles over the years. It’s like my daily scent. During Xmas time Ulta has a Holiday pack, I always pick 1 or 2 up.
Lauren you need to try Vanillac Dreams from Dua Fragrances I believe it’s suppose to be a dupe of the Tihota fragrance. Either way it smells sooooo amazingly sweet! It reminds me of my Nemat Vanilla musk but stronger, I adore both! Love scent sunday 😊

The Billie Eilish perfume is a bit confusing to me, I don't know why. I don't own it, but I have smelled it in store multiple times. Still can't decide if I like it or not. Your comparison with Pink Sugar made me lean towards no even more, because that fragrance is repulsive to me, I don't say it lightly, but I found that one absolutely disgusting.
You're 100% right about "Milk". I almost bought the Ellis Milk today. It smelled good on the paper, but when I sprayed it on my wrist, it literally smelled like smoke! I was so disappointed that being said I absolutely LOVE Philosophy Warm Cashmere.

I'd recommend checking out Jeroboam's Insulo. It's vanilla, jasmine, and musk. It smells great and it quite strong, so I only spray a little.
