A Fantastic presentation, Gedas. You explain things so well, and the videos and graphics really told the story clearly! Thank You. 73 de KF8QL
Hi David. TU so much and a huge TU to you for maintaining your awesome 10 GHz beacon. I hope to have mine QRV this summer. 73
@@w8bya Awesome news! I will look forward to that. de KF8QL
What an inspiring presentation on 10 GHz rainscatter
Thank you Gordon ! 73
Thanks for your continued help Gedas. I hope we can make our contact soon from FM09VC.
Hi there Kevin. Looking forward to that contact very much. Let me know if I can help in any way. 73
Rain Scatter works also on 24 GHz, surprisingly. I (AA0BR/VE1GR) worked W6HCC using this mode years ago (narrow band FM). We were separated by about 80 miles. For long distance work (350+ miles) over land, AIRCRAFT SCATTER at 10 GHz works very well. My friend W6HCC worked K0RZ using this method, amassing more than 40 grids over several years. Thank you for bringing your observations and excellent demonstrations regarding rain scatter to the ham radio community.
Thank you so much Philip. Yes I should have mentioned RS can be done using higher & lower freq's than 10 GHz but since I am only QRV on 10 GHz that is what I discussed. I have already taken delivery of my Kuhne 24 GHz transverter :-) 73
Great Video Gedas
Great intro Gedas... been playing ES on 1.2, 2.4 and 3.4GHz for about 10years... its a great eye opener, and challenges the thinking about what's possible. You've given some motivation to get the /P 10GHz system out and play... if there was only someone at the other end to make it worthwhile ;)
Hi Scott. TU very much for taking the time to watch and comment. You are absolutely right about needing someone at the other end. We are trying our best to build up interest & thus activity on 10 GHz and it is working. We continue to build momentum and see more & more new ops wanting to play which is a win-win for all. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can find some mates with RS DX ! 73
This was super interesting and a really well produced video! I don't have any microwave capability yet, but you've got me thinking and I'll be keeping an eye out for a dish and other gear I can pick up. N5DAH
That is awesome to hear ! Trust me once you tag along with someone and see how easy and fun it is or after you make your own first contact you will kick yourself for not trying sooner 🙂
There are a large number of uW folks in the DFW area if you need any help getting in touch with them shoot me an e-mail and I will get you their e-mails. I will send you an invite to the Midwest-Microwave group where you can read the mail and ask questions. We have a lot of folks from all over the states since even on 10 GHz we can make QSO's well over 1000km away. 73
Great video, Gedas!
Hi Rus, TU very much ! 73
Thank you for motivating me to finish up my 10GHz portable setup. Almost done. 73, KD5FZX
Hi Mats, that is wonderful news ! Go for it and have a blast. GL and if you need any help just hollar. 73
