My name is Kaiya Pelletier and I am documenting my metal journey as I discover and listen to metal music for the first time ever. I'm in my mid 20's and I've been a singer songwriter and performer for over 10 years. Currently I'm in 3 bands and gigging around in Asheville, NC where I live. I have a Bloodhound named Spooner, I love mexican food, Stephen King, collecting CD's and cassettes and my favorite movies are tied between Jurrassic Park and Alien.

THANK YOU to Earache Records for partnering with me on this video. Please show some love and support to them!! I have links to their label and store as well as merch etc for Bolt Thrower. With record labels like Earache I can continue to make awesome reactions like this and get a little kickback from it to continue upgrading the channel.
Also: I apologize for the crappy audio. This is a pre recorded vid from before the holidays, so my mic wasn't plugged into the camera but the reaction was too good to toss in my opinion.
Thanks for being here and enjoying the video. I love you and I hope you have an awesome day. What are your thoughts on Bolt Thrower??
you HAVE TO listen to the song " the killchain " by bolt thrower, the groove is so sick, easily my favorite song by them
"What are your thoughts on Bolt Thrower??" Hailing from Denmark. 1 Years ago from my latest concert with B T in Copenhagen I remember a whole lot of role-playing people, a whole lot of happy punks and many (disco)womens instead of the usual death metal thrashers . These 3 groups surprised me by being a lot over 50 pct ! The punks gave me free drinks the whole night :) 2 Every country have a great band which people outside not have heard. For me in Denmark we have the all female band "Konvent" ! If you are unknown to this band then please start with the number "Puritan Masochism" live at Roskilde :) Please enjoy :) 3 Talked with the bass player from Konvent. Asked for her favorite band ? The answer came immediately : Bolt Thrower !! 4 Best album is Warmaster but all albums are GREAT ! 5 If you want Bolt Thrower i can recommend english "Axegrinder" and "Prophecy of Doom" - Hail the old Earache Records - Stay healthy and also stay thirsty :)
@@thomaspedersen2092 Konvent is cool! I'm Canadian, for what it's worth.
Dude, I've been supporting Earache since '89! A friend of mine picked up an Earache sampler compilation back when we were in our mid-teens there. I'll admit I was a bit iffy on about half of it (took me until Opeth started getting more prog to really get into the death metal growls), but the connection Bolt Thrower has always had to the "Warhammer 40,000" universe helped them to get a grip on me, and I loved the musical part.
My favourite band off that first sampler disk was Godflesh, though. I hope you get to them someday; their first two albums, Streetcleaner and Pure, are still among my favourite albums of all time.
@@iDEATH Yeeeah its the "Grindcrusher - The Earache Sampler". If you like Godflesh :) Then I can recommend the 1. Pitchshifter "Industrial" from 91. I have many LPs in my collection from Earache. I cant remember a bad one. Their first LP from Earache was with The Accüsed 's The Return of Martha Splatterhead. Remember this as a funny concert with a little singer who jumped the whole time. Later holy Napalm Death joined. Always extreme music in different genres and if named in german : Alles bestens !! Happy to hear that you like Konvent. :):) I have another serious real gem from Denmark but not on Earache Records :). An international band based in Copenhagen from 2015. They play music from the stone age to the vikings and only in instruments from this time. No guitar, no bass and so on but drums en masse and real talent : Name is Heilung (means healing in old german) - give them a try !! Its not heavy but some will say that its heavier than heavy !! You can start with them live : In Maidjan LIFA LIVE (Maria sings solo in the second part) If you have seen the movie "Vikings" then you actually have heard them in season 6 and also with some computer games. The 4. singer quited the band because they came to famous. Cheers :)
Love Bolt Thrower, not the easiest album to start with beacause of the raw sound. Hope you get to IVth Crusade and For victory albums one day.
i was going to say that
Best album though
Some people like that sound though, it gives it a sort of charm and character.
@@AberranceMetal Well I love that sound. Just saying it may be hard for the beginner to listen.
In battle there's no law ;)
These guys are my favorite band, it’s awesome seeing more people react to them.
Really need more though for such an awesome band
You'll love 'Those Once Loyal' when you hear it, the most epic riffs are there, it's a portal to another time this album, it's insane. Bassist Jo Bench is a pioneer of extreme music, and Bolt Thrower taught many prejudiced people to respect and admire women in metal. Top 5 death metal band of all time, maybe top 3, but let's raise this podium so as not to do any injustice.
their last cd Those Once Loyal was amazing
Terrorizer/ World Downfall is probably one of the best DEATH/GRIND blueprints!!! Classick Earache!!! 👍
Bolt Thrower "Those once loyal" my favorite album 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Greetings from Pennsylvania!!! Realms rules!!! WARMASTER is my favorite!! They both should have deluxe Reissues!!! That would be 😎!!! 😀 ❤ 👍🐕 😀
Very groovy death metal. Their last albums were the best. Some of my favorite vocals, too. Learned a lot about rhythm guitar from this band.
she has to listen to " the killchain " that groove is siiiiiiiick
Bolt Thrower is one of the few bands with a flawless discography. Besides their debut, this is their fastest and most different album, their later albums would settle into the heavier groove aspect of their sound. My favorite is probably their last album Those Once Loyal, followed closely by the The IVth Crusade(title track is literally the perfect death metal song) and For Victory. BT is also one of the few bands IMO who have really good album intros and not just boring fluff.
The album is great for working out.
WOOOOOOORLD EATER!!
You can not play a game of WH40k and not listen to this... One of the first Death Metal bands i started listening to in the 80's thanks to Games Workshop and Warhammer. Bolt Thrower one of the few bands through history that has never released a crappy album.
Same here! I was playing Warhammer 40K as a teen, and saw the ad for the album in White Dwarf magazine, and ordered it by mail.
Was so different to Metallica/Slayer/Megadeth who I was listening to at the time! My first time listening to Death/Grind
I still play world eaters and undivided because of this album
Truer words have never been spoken! Bolt Thrower makes WH40K more epic!!
I almost started playing Chaos Space Marines because of this album. Nowadays, I only play 40k Kill Team, but I listen to Bolt Thrower while painting and playing. I love the World Eaters just because of the song.
They sound exactly like the album artwork
And the whole album was written by fans (bolthrower) of a tabletop warfare game from back in 1987.
Never ending turning this vinyl!
Every time this woman goes "ugh" with that stank face whenever she hears a sick riff, I feel like I related to each and every one
you HAVE TO listen to the song " the killchain " by bolt thrower, the groove is so sick, easily my favorite song by them
Even your dogs love Bolt Thrower
Literally only just discovered your channel this evening after a hard day at work. First video was your recent reaction to Tool's "Aenima". Tool are one of my all time favourite bands so I loved that reaction. I spotted on that video some Bolt Thrower and Carcass in the background which intrigued me further as I was listening to those bands back in the late 80's to early 90's when I was around 16 to 18 years old. Yes I'm old. I'm 50 in a weeks time. Anyway, I digress. I saw this vid for Bolt Thrower's "Realm of Chaos" and had to watch. The first Bolt Thrower song I heard was "World Eater" when legendary British DJ John Peel played it on his late night show back in the late 80's and it blew my mind! It was the heaviest thing I'd ever heard at that point. So great to hear younger people still acknowledging these old school underground metal classics. This is a blast from the past for me. Also on Carcass, I'm going to see them live for the first time in about 30 years in June a a venue near me. Can't wait! Thanks for your effort in putting these videos together!
Bolt Thrower is part of the old skool death metal elite!!! The entire discography of this band is excellent!!!
One of the most humble metal bands that i've heard. In their later albums , i noticed that there were many places in songs where they could have shown off and put something really 'shiny' into the song as other bands would at that point in the song ,but they kept themselves reigned in and continued a simple groove riff that you could tell they were actually enjoying . In those later albums, their riffing style could be considered by some as being repetitive, but for me, they show restraint, integrity and humility.
Their riffs are just so catchy
They broke up on the 1 year anniversary of Martin Kearns death. They also didn't release an album after Those Once Loyal (2005) because they decided nothing they wrote after was better.
Album is based on the Warhammer 40K universe. The amount of lore that goes with 40K makes Lord of the Rings look like a 20 page kids storybook
That is restricted information.
😁So glad you got to react to one of my favorite albums! Bolt Thrower does some slowing down in later albums but they remain consistently groovy as hell throughout.
Bolt Thrower make me proud to be British
The only hetero thing your nation has done in 1000 years
Favorite band and first female bassist in death metal band. She still is.
She sure is
Bolt Thrower needs a Deluxe cassette/Tape reissue 📦 set!!! Do it Dig!!! 😀 😎 👍 ❤
Oh fuck yeah! I love bolt thrower!!
BOLT THROWER ♥No1
Honestly, I was knowing BT just 2 years ago, but now this band one of my favorite death metal bands.
The album that put them on the road to greatness. This is so far ahead of their debut In Battle There Is No Law which is a good album. The production and Games Workshop artwork all a big step up from their previous crust punk/grindcore sound and image. They are a unique band with their own sound which no one has ever managed to imitate. Me and mates bought this on the day of release on gatefold vinyl with it's Games Worshop lyrics booklet. My all time favourite English Death Metal band.
I remember a magazine saying the guitars were tuned so low, only dogs could hear them. That statement right there made me buy this, my first ever Bolt Thrower album.
Bolt Thrower had been one of my favorite bands for a long time. If you haven't yet, check out Frozen Soul. They have the heaviness and groove of Bolt Thrower with Texas attitude. I've been fortunate enough to see them live twice. They will be on the Black Dahlia Murder tour later this year. If you can see them live, you won't be disappointed.
Frozen Soul are Great!!!
yoooooooooooooooo! that's sick you're checking out bolt thrower, enjoy! so much groove!
I never put it together that all those songs go together... I only noticed it for World Eater-Cenotaph. So yeah let's do that!
Yesss!!! One of my top 5 bands ever!!!
The cool slides in through the eye of terror are bass
Don't know if you're aware, but Karl Willetts, the vocalist of Bolt Thrower, started a band after Bolt Thrower broke up, called Dominion. His vocals have changed a bit and the music has more of a melodeath feel to it, but still worth listening to. :)
Please react to IVth Crusade full album by Bolt Thrower also.
My favorite track from this album is world eater is like a real machine or a giant war tank crushing your brain \,,/
The year was 1993 and I was 15 years old when I was at a schooltrip to Hamburg. At that point I was hearing mostly rock music played in radio, klike Bon Jovi or Scorpions. One of my classmates was playing Warhammer 40k, and on this schooltrip, he bougt himself a CD which was announced as the 'official' soundtrack for the game, not knowing what kind of music it is. In the evening we were hearing it in our youth hostel and my mind was just blown when the first song started. From that day on I was a Metal fan
Digby Pearson was the founder of Earache records and initially run the label from his flat,(there’s a news clip somewhere on UA-cam about it) Napalm Death was the first band he signed though it was quite funny because they recorded a bunch of songs in 1986 but by the time they got picked up two of the three band members had left and had been replaced so the two halves of the album Scum sound completely different weirdly they were hugely popular here in the UK and had mainstream recognition, they’re still going with putting out some fantastic stuff and deserve to be covered on this channel
Thank you so much for your reaction!! I think „Realm of Chaos“ is a hard listen, if it’s your first time reacting to Bolt Thrower because it’s just so raw and evil and it has a a lot of blast beats In it, where you can’t really hear the Guitarwork really well.
Therefore I greatly recommend reacting to „Those Once Loyal“!!! This is their last studio album and their best imo. If you should react to this I’ll be the happiest man on earth, I 100% believe You will absolutely love this album!
This band along with Brutality’s when the sky turns black wrote the soundtrack to hell.
One of the greatest bands to exist...when I was a teen in 1990 and discovering Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Carcass, Godflesh and Napalm Death...still tops for me!
and Morbid Angel, Terrorizer, Nocturnus, Carnage:)
The lV Crusade is Bolt Throwers best Album .
Oh hells yeah about time oooooh girl I'm tingling already unholy queen of metal 🤘
bolt thrower is amazing
Yes
Me and a friend flew to USA a few years back for Maryland Deathfest where we saw them live and it HEAVY
and it was HEAVY
Riff Thrower is too good.
Thank you kaiya love you and bolt thrower unholy queen of metal 🤘
Bolt Thrower's Mercenary album was my first Death Metal album
War Master is my favorite.
Yesss Bolthrower is fire!!! Listen to the beginning of ''Karelelian Isthmus''' (I don't know if I spelled it correctly) it's my favourite Boltrower song, and maybe album
Lolll Correction-Karelelian Isthmus is a great AMORPHIS record (that I hugely recommend also), I meant 'The IVth crusade''. Is a super heavy and melodic Bolthrower álbum, listen to the beginning of the record, it's incredible!!!
1 word - Spearhead - extended version
This is THE greatest Death Metal album of all time, imo.
Thank you kaiya ❤️🤘
You'd jam " When Cannons Fade"
Can't Forget Entombed and Cadaver!!! 😎 👍
You should check out Deicide. Their debut album especially
🤘🤘😈😈🤘🤘🎸
Joe bench...shes n awesome bassist. All albs r mega, sad they aint playing anymore. Boltthrower Themes mostly war, Warhammer 4000 especialy.
doggy also wanna listen to it ...
Quote Bolt Thrower : THIS time it means war - ETERNAL WAR !! Cheers :)
1:41:10 that will be great!
Dig from Earache was notorious for not paying bands, I m amazed they still own the rights to this
The best one!
Too bad the guitars weren't done at A(?) tuning without harmonizers!
I wish she would've had the opportunity to review the whole "Considered Dead" album from Gorguts.
PLEASE, Queensryche- The Warning...full album..trust me
the very muddy sound which sometimes makes the riffs near indescernible was taken as inspiration for genres like war metal or brutal death metal I would argue... not just by Bolt Thrower but also other bands. But the influence early Bolt Thrower had can not be understated. Bolt Thrower also influenced the grind movement, they were punk fans as well and the punk virtues, so chaotic songs, not very tight played maybe, but with a lot of attitude, spilled over into their music but also into metal as well.
Good Evening Kaiya, Good old heavy Bolt Thrower. Was a good band, but maybe a to litle variation in their material.
Best Death metal band ever imo...Nobody has captured that slinky groove that BT had...This album still retained a lot of their early grind influence, but their albums after are pretty much straight DM...The only DM band where the riffs are almost danceable lol
The heaviest sounding metal band. Intelligent lyrics and great artwork. Historical wars theme.
Historical wars later. This album is based on the fictional grimdark future setting of the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop miniature game universe. Also lots of books and video games now. Otherwise you are very correct!
No not historical this is warhammer 40k themed. So if at all it is sci-fi.
@@arnepietruszewski9255 Future wars themed :P
One of the 1st extreme metal bands to have a female in their lineup. This is the most unique sounding album of the BT discography because of the low tuning and blastbeats
Maybe the guitar tuning and blast beats make this one of my favorite Bolt Thrower albums.
Love to see yr path in metal since that cannibal corpse first video, yr totally and naturally into it, it's so cool, and relatable
You should do kreator pleasure to kill next
For present day Bolt Thrower adjacent riffery, listen to Karl Willet's current outfit Memoriam.
All that remains, is my prefer song.
You should react to grand Belials key
Agreed
I too agree. Along with Arghoslent too.
you keep mentioning how good their riffs are, and it instantly got me thinking of this interview with karl willets (bolt thrower) and frank healy (benediction). in the interview (2:50), karl mentions how everything they do comes down to good riff structure.
ua-cam.com/video/TvWZMKrV334/v-deo.html
The bassist chick is stiil going.
I live your reaction❤❤
Pliz react to tomarum ful album 2022
It top masterphic black metal🔥🔥
You really should listen to the later Bolt Thrower albums that are less thrashy and more doom metal to get a better overview of their progressed sound. What they released in the 90's was superb!
The guitar sound on this album is one of the thickest ever. And you're right: The album is just one killer riff after another.
By the way, Morbid Angel is faster than this...not that it's a competition.
My computer speaker just blew out
Ah,my second favorite band after Death.Good choice.
💯💯🔥🤘🤘
CENOTAPH
Bolt Thrower really made a difference when they slowed down the pace and get rid off of the blast beat . Listen to "Those once loyal" or "The IV crusade" . Best track : "When cannons fade"
Have to say I loved Earaches output back in the day.. but.. none of the bands who worked with them have much good to say about the experience.
I remember reading that Digby signed a distribution deal with a major label without talking to any of the bands about it and this led to a lot of the animosity
Listen to Disma
This and Warmaster ase the Killer Albums,This is Bolltthower, not the last few albums.
No, not LOTR. War Hammer 40 k .. Chaos inspired.. That’s where the Name comes from..
Lol, I dunno if a 'cave' was the intention in the intro I always imagined some post-apocalyptic setting like the dark alleyways and military bunkers in the flashback scenes of the future war in the first Terminator film. Still nice review this chick 'gets' the music.
They have better albums, I can't recall the name... I think it is 'Those Once Loyal'.
The bass player is Female
Jo bench the very feminist in metal
