Honestly it's writers who owe him an apology: In episode 1 of the season we see Piltover builds a statue dedicated to the three incompetent council members who died in a terrorist attack but what does Jayce get for sacrificing himself to save the planet? His mom puts a piece of paper in a basket to be burned... no scene of Mel or Cait mourning him and no statue/plaque.
Here’s things left up to viewers to put together…. VI’s death is the cataclysm to having Piltover and Zaun unite…Vi dying made it so that Jayce projects never took off due to it already having casualties before it even got to testing phase, Victor couldn’t endorse hextech bcz he was all about helping ppl & it killing a kid went against his beliefs… Powder kept the crystals as a reminder of Vi leading to Jayce never getting the opportunity to try creating it himself…+ he ends up most likely committing suicide since Victor this time around wasn’t present to stop him (hence why he could not be teleported in the same timeline as Ekko & Heimer)… VI’s death brought Silco & Vandor back together as both have failed to uphold their promise to VI’s mom, As both Vi & her mom died so their reason to fix Zaun quickly was shattered which most likely brought the two (Silco/Vandor) together to mourn VI’s death and Vandor most likely said what he tried to convey in the letter directly to Silco…they had to forgive each other to maintain the promise they made to VI’s mom by protecting Powder… Due to a child dying from Piltover invention the old sheriff who worked with Vandor probably put in a case that Mel & Caitlyn’s mom agreed upon along with Heimer to end the senseless hate and all assume their involvement in this hate, having them all take responsibility as adult to give the kids a better future. Vi was a worthy Sacrifice just like she wanted to be. The Symbol of Zaun & Piltover in that timeline 😢
I thought about how Jayce probably did commit suicide in that timeline, but I hadn't thought about how that's why he didn't go to that timeline in ep3. I also hadn't thought about Vander and Silco's promise to Powder's mom and that being the reason they reconnect. Good stuff!
Another thing is that without Jayve Heimer was likely still head of the council. With what he has lived and learn he would have been in position to do a lot of the above good in 3 years.
Similar idea, tho I assume Jayce gets prison or is exiled for this experiment as it claimed a life, which makes sure his and Viktor´s path never meet - which then results in them both basically dying - Jayce commits s*icide and Viktor dies of illness. At least this feels cleaner to me, as it aint like the initial blow up in episode 1 was harmless(Viktor does call Jayce and his work dangerous, rightfully so as the room is blown up) ... I do believe Viktor d be less inclined to help Jayce, but I d not bet an entire civilization on it, so to me it makes more sense that Jayce it locked up or exiled , prventing him from meeting Viktor and then ofc killing himself.
I think we all needed this after what our characters have been through. It was bittersweet of course - it's Arcane after all - so we know Ekko can't stay, and we end up losing Heimer in the process. But still, I needed this palette cleanser of Ekko and Powder just being happy for a little bit. And now we know Powder is out there somewhere being happy, no matter what happens to Jinx. That usually feels like a copout to me, but in this show, honestly? Healing, is the word I'd use.
At the beginning of the episode, it is shown how Ekko's consciousness from the main timeline enters Ekkos's brain in the other timeline and takes control of him.
@@lextutor4682 what I never said it didn't all I'm saying is the original ekko body that our ekko went into was already dating before our ekko became him
The song "What could have been" is all that was going through my head this entire episode. My heart breaks for Ekko the most. Others may have dreamed and thought about what could have been, but Ekko. He saw and lived it. He had the chance to stay in a better world, yet he had the strength to let it go.
The hextech stones powder has hidden away in the drawer at the end indicates that she is the reason hextech was never invented. That universe is thriving because no one ever got their hands on the gemstones after the accident because powder hid them away.
also jayce prolly got full exiled (prolly cause someone died) lol cause there were other crystals he just either gave up or never got the chance to work on it.
It's a sweet idea, but I'm afraid it doesn't make sense. In our canon universe Powder took gemstones from Jayce too, and they never got returned to him all the same. Yet he just continued, because he obviously has some source where he took them from. I think the point is Vi's death. With a child dead because of his experiment, council would probably not forgive him and banish him after all. More importantly, it would be a big mental hit on Jayce even if he wasn't banished (he probably was, or jailed, as his flat isn't fixed), because he would strongly regret meddling with hextech and stop. Why were gemstones shown to us?.. Well, it's either implying that all can still go bad in that universe (Powder has gemstones, everyone tells her to realize her potential and do inventions the whole episode, and she already knows how to work with hextech thanks to their escapade with Ekko), or it's a sly wink to us that it's better this way, because Ekko shouldn't take too much to not overdo it like Jayce and Vikor did. That it's a good thing that he could manage with just a shards - just enough to to do a little change and not destroy the world. Or maybe it is indeed about Jinx being a reason that this world is alright, but in a way that yes - she could work with them, but she chooses not to, which is a good decision on her part.
I think hextech was never invented because Viktor did not support Jayce after seeing a child die because of his research, and then after being pardoned by the council, Jayce yeeted himself from that building, since Viktor had no interest on him, there wasn't anyone to prevent him from yeeting himself.
Jayce: Sees literal hell and destruction of everything around him, lives alone in a pit for weeks (at minimum, no idea how long it was, months?), finally climbs out with a broken leg, hikes from Zaun, across the bridge, up to the Hexgates, has to daringly leap from one piece of floating to another (if he falls he dies), finally gets to the top and realizes it’s more or less his doing that leads to this outcome, then gets sent back to try to stop the end of the world from happening. Everyone: JAYCE YOU MONSTER I HATE YOU RAHHHHH!!! HOW COULD YOU, YOU ARE DEAD TO ME!! 😂😂😂
I adore both Jayce and Viktor, (the latter even more than the former but they've always been my top two), and I still couldn't be onboard with the Jayce hate even after S1. Then S2A2 rolls around and the crowd is angry at him again, but it really never stuck for me. There had to be a reason he attacked the second most important person to him (after his mother), and we finally got the answer. Now they have eachother in whatever abyss they're stuck in away from that timeline.
I cried the whole episode because of how happy everyone is and how happy Ekko would've been, since he's the person who probably was carrying the guilt cuz he told his own friends about a tip that lead to a lot of them dying, he could've chosen happiness, but he decided to go back to save everyone *sobs again*
I've been waiting for your reaction to this episode because I just knew you two would be heartbroken by this. Me and many others are devastated by what Ekko and Powder could've been 😭
hearing carlie say “where’s silco” brought me so much joy… i was thinking about him the whole time and when i almost lost hope, he popped up and i screamed. one of my favorite characters of all time, love when reactors appreciate him
Holy crap, that guitar cover was fantastic! The focus on the little drawer on Vi's shrine was to point out that Powder kept the hex crystals from her reality's accident. It also sort of implies that their Jayce either died in or was exiled after the explosion since no one pushed forward with development of hextech. No Jayce and Viktor team up, no hextech. On top of that, this Powder was wise enough to let Ekko just use the shards he found when she could have given him a wholly intact crystal. This is a Powder who is profoundly different and much wiser. This episode has some of the best subtext on how events have/could change the trajectory of a characters whole existence. It is also the first time I saw them address the fact that if Ekko hadn't give Vi that tip, then none of the terrible events of this series would have happened. Not that it is fault but that little flap of the butterfly's wings did start a tsunami which is threatening his whole reality.
@24:07, those were the unperfected gemstones that killed Vi in that universe. It's really a question of whether Powder (in that universe) will try and go back to try and save Vi or be content with what's occurred... Only time will tell if that Universe will see another "Jinx" ;)
I really really really love what the writers did with episode 7. I was afraid they would "save" Jinx with Ekko's love or something like that. But they didn't. Ekko could have the "good ending" but decided he needed to go forward and give up any hope she could be normal again. It's sad but so beautiful. I also like the implication that the sisters' relationship is cursed and that Powder is happy because Vi died, breaking the curse.
This episode was so god damn cute... i didn't want it to end! JInx is such a masterfuly written character in this show. Became one of my favourites of all time
Vi dying and Powder keeping all of the Arcane Jayce had...kinda means Jayce was either sent to prison/exiled as his illegal experiments caused death, or even if he somehow avoided that without all the crystals he never creates Hextech, meaning....he most probably commits s*icide and Viktor dies of illness as without Hextech and Jayce he has no cure...hence we get the Arcane-less timeline.
The hex crystals Powder has at the end imply that Ekko may have inadvertently restarted the sequence of events. All the changes were (basically) because that world never got hextech, but now with the crystals (and the knowledge) Powder has, the ep 7 alternate universe may no longer have avoided the fate of our main universe. Some of the events in ep 9 definitely imply the "hextech crisis" ultimately can't be avoided.
I think this episode should have been named ,,What could have been,, As homage to song form S1 ep9 Also , one of reasons Hextech dont exist in alt-reality , is because Jinx/Powder have all proto-Hexcore pieces. and research was most likely destroyed by explosion.
I have a feeling they didn’t call it that because both this timeline and the original are real. Ekko leaving doesn’t remove the timeline. In THIS timeline, Powder and Ekko live a happy life
You got me. Damn your guitar skills! I found myself having to wait and watch all my normal reactors' episode 7 at the same time, then 8 together, then 9. My psyche can't take the cycling of watching the 3 episodes from each person then going through it again. So thank you for dropping this early!
Interpretation but, the end shows the crystals in the drawer, I see it as Powder saved her timeline by hiding the arcane and hextech possibility from Jayce and the world. Ergo the moments where she is egged on to be more ambitious and don't live small.
That last scene shows that the reason they got to live like that is because Powder/Jinx kept and hid the stones used for Hex Tech, therefore it was never "invented". That's why she is told twice "what would they do without you?". She might have known all along what those stones could do yet decided to hide them and never use them.
I was literally bawling my eyes out about how beautiful and heart mending Ekko and Powder are when they’re dancing and connecting and then 💥BAAMMMM💥 the scene cuts to Jayce absolutely fighting for his life in the most dystopian desolated depressing alternate universe 😂😂
This is my favorite episode of the season, its so beautiful 😍🥺😭 I'm so happy to know that at least in one universe Ekko and Powder (Jinx) are happy together 😍⏳💣💚💙
I like how we almost got the opposite to Ange's favorite scene this episode. In the first season he really enjoyed the Jynx and Ekko scene on the bridge. The dance scene and stuff with them in this is almost a direct contrast to that. Instead of them fighting, we get them embracing one another.
Necrit, the lore guy for lol, did an interview with an Arcane producer, really interesting stuff there if you wanna know more about the series and the future ones, I´m sure someone will do an summary about it if you don´t wanna see the interview. One thing confirmed is that the next series is already in production for about an year
Here's a fun fact: In League of Legends lore, Yordles are beings that are "immortal". When they die, they just return/respawn to their spiritual home place called Bandle City. Heimerdinger is not dead, but he either respawned in that timeline's Bandle City, or his original timeline's Bandle City. Who knows.
I wasn't gonna say it but then you guys did a full discussion on the pronunciation of Warwick; I had a bit of a laugh when you listed off "Vander, Isha, Victor" all ending with "Ah". Anyways.. Act 2 was probably my favorite act in the series, but this episode might be one of my all-time favorites. Also HOLY MOLY I didn't know you do guitar covers like this, never expected a guitar cover of Isha's song. That was really nice! On the end comments, Im glad you said what you did about wrapping up the Black Rose. I'm sort of assuming you guys have finished up the series by now, it felt incomplete but up until your comments there, I have faith they will use this as a vessel to move into the Black Rose in another series. It would make the most sense as a means to keep non-LoL-playing fans of Arcane in the loop to daisy-chain lore together.
I never thought I needed Ekko and Powder together until this episode. I also like how the scene was switched to different characters as if it’s a normal ep not some alternate timeline.
In league lore Yordles are a magical race that is immortal. When they die they just reappear on bandle city, their magical city. So its safe to assume that Heimerdinger is alive somewhere, we just dont know if he's on that timeline or the main one.
I like how you can tell that Silco was more inclined to forgive Vander in this universe primarily because, unlike the other one, his left eye didn't get infected by the river toxins
I appreciate the genuine reactions to the episodes throughout, certain episodes hit harder than others for people and having genuine criticisms is just a part of being human! It also is what makes watching different people react so interesting--everyone connects to different details. I’ll admit, arc 1 disappointed the hell out of ME due to pacing and lackluster lines, but I am so happy that the 2nd and 3rd hit for ME. Ekko in particular. I appreciate you both so much!
Seeing happy alternate Powder & all the rest of the dead characters alive is such a proverbial gut punch since we all know we're eventually gonna go back to the normal timeline. Ya know, the way more more depressing one.
A quick note on Heimerdinger, yordles don't die in Leagues lore, they kinda just get disentangled from physical form and end up respawning in Bandle City, so if he did die there, he'll be fine 😂
In League lore, Yordles are essentially immortal. Heimer's not dead, but no clue where he is. Most likely is back in Bandle City where Yordles are from.
Jinx kept the hex-shards so noone else would use them since Vi died in that timeline from them. Which at the end helped to never develop hextech in the first place.
The end showing the shards basically means that the reason why Jayce didn’t continue with Hextec is because powder kept all the shards. So basically the only reason this world is as happy as it is, is that she kept those shards.
Unless they retcon how Yordles work just to kill him off, canonically they are immortal beings. I personally think it’s a big reason why heimer didn’t have a corpse, he just poofed.

Sane and happy Powder is precious and must be protected at all costs 😭
The dance outfit? The blue eyeliner? I almost fell in love a little lol
Interpretation but, the end shows the crystals in the drawer, I see it as Powder saved her timeline by hiding the arcane and hextech possibility from Jayce and the world. Ergo the moments where she is egged on to be more ambitious and don't live small.
Love the cover 💙
Oh Ange, you got me bawling with your cover. That was amazing
This episode perfectly encapsulates "what could have been," which is exactly what the song in the S1 ending is called.
cover is amazing one of my fav songs from this season good job ange
Heimerdinger can be said to be a Doc from the movie "Back to the Future", but Doc didn't disappear when he connected the wire
Can you believe this is the show's last episode? I couldn't have asked for anything more.
The flower on the pendant Ekko gave Powder means “Unattainable Love” btw 😢
This is my favorite episode of the season, its so beautiful 😍🥺😭 I'm so happy to know that at least in one universe Ekko and Powder (Jinx) are happy together 😍⏳💣💚💙
Just remember: Powder's and Ekko's reality is as real as any other!
At least we have some consolation that somewhere they’re happy and together 🥹
Yowwww that intro got me teary eyed..... 🔥 Dayum perfect Ange!!
This episode had me in many different types of chills and tears! Chills everytime I saw Powder show up.
I have never felt as heartbroken and fulfilled watching this episode. Knowing they are okay in another universe just fills my heart.
25:13 "Ambessa will obviously be on the next one" 😂😂😂
Yo Carlie is so good with her predictions
I got EMOTIONAL DAMAGE after watching this episode LOL
OMG THE COVER ANGE. How could you even record that without crying. 😭
Not me crying because of the cover.. good job Angie this was magnificent
amazing amazing cover, just like Arcane, I didn't expect that. thank you
Ekko to Powder
This multidimensional space, the world’s farewell gift.
Untouchable love, the language of flowers 😢
I like how we almost got the opposite to Ange's favorite scene this episode. In the first season he really enjoyed the Jynx and Ekko scene on the bridge. The dance scene and stuff with them in this is almost a direct contrast to that. Instead of them fighting, we get them embracing one another.
Necrit, the lore guy for lol, did an interview with an Arcane producer, really interesting stuff there if you wanna know more about the series and the future ones, I´m sure someone will do an summary about it if you don´t wanna see the interview. One thing confirmed is that the next series is already in production for about an year
she was keeping the Present our Ekko gave her after the Dance in this Drawer, which indecates she now has feelings for that version of Ekko.
Crazy how the episode where the characters are the happiest left me most sad.
Who knows.
just wait for the last episode, carlie gonna be waterfalls
That was a beautiful cover, Ange
"we dont pronounce the hard R we would say something like..." had me gasping for a sec lmao
LETS GO BE DESTROYED AGAIN
I like how you can tell that Silco was more inclined to forgive Vander in this universe primarily because, unlike the other one, his left eye didn't get infected by the river toxins
Banger cover as always! I'm gonna miss this showso much 😭😭
just like episode 4 and 5 with the jinx isha they give us something I would never expect or think about
Woah, that cover of Isha's song was hearfelt! Thanks, Ange!
Dude that guitar cover almost made me tear up. Good shit
Powder hiding the stones helps prevent hextech ever being created. Part of the reason for Zaun thriving
Didn't expect Heimerdinger to turn into Ed Sheeran in an alternate timeline
AAAAAANGE HOW DARE YOU😭😭😭 that cover was amazing😭😭😭
The flower on the pendant he gives Jinx means "An Unattainable Love" and now I'm off to cry in a corner kbye.
Ekko: What could have been
Jayce: What should not be
I can't beliveve that i cried half an hour after finishing this act And im doing it now after watching it while seeing the reactions😢
great cover Ange !
Beautiful cover good job
Bro that piece u did was siiiiiiiiick.. loved it man
The cover is amazing, Ange. Carlie was right. This is your best cover yet.
Seeing happy alternate Powder & all the rest of the dead characters alive is such a proverbial gut punch since we all know we're eventually gonna go back to the normal timeline. Ya know, the way more more depressing one.
THAT COVER WAS FANTASTIC!!!
A quick note on Heimerdinger, yordles don't die in Leagues lore, they kinda just get disentangled from physical form and end up respawning in Bandle City, so if he did die there, he'll be fine 😂
Oh man what a great cover of Isha's Song!
Cover is amazing Angelo!
In League lore, Yordles are essentially immortal. Heimer's not dead, but no clue where he is. Most likely is back in Bandle City where Yordles are from.
beautiful cover!
Awesome guitar play! ❤
YOOOOOO SICK COVER I CRIED
i cant wait for you to see the next ep :) looking forward to it
Jinx kept the hex-shards so noone else would use them since Vi died in that timeline from them. Which at the end helped to never develop hextech in the first place.
The end showing the shards basically means that the reason why Jayce didn’t continue with Hextec is because powder kept all the shards. So basically the only reason this world is as happy as it is, is that she kept those shards.
bro that guitar intro was sick, what the hell.. i loved it 😳
If this episode makes you too sad, just remember that Yordles (Heimerdinger) can’t die. They just respawn back at their home called Bandle City😊
The Bandle he came from, or the one in this world ? This would be nice to know 😂
We don't really know how that works now, riot still doesn't know how to handle yordles
Unless they retcon how Yordles work just to kill him off, canonically they are immortal beings. I personally think it’s a big reason why heimer didn’t have a corpse, he just poofed.
@@MatiasCirulli Riot is doing a big developer update next week, I hope they touch on the lore and how they will handle it going forward.
This episode ,i cry the most
this episode blew me away.
