Isn't it amazing how you can replicate shots from Knight Rider with HD cameras, when you think how much the rig weighed when they shot the originals. Thanks for the rock story. Shout out to the Props Department for building something that managed to survive this long, and thanks for having the respect for it that you do.
I bet Universal would have KILLED to have access to GoPro cameras back then. 😂
That foam "rock" brings back memories of a time when TV and movie effects were mostly all practical and the effects department had to come up with economical solutions for the director to most closely match what the scriptwriter had in mind. Those people were the true creative minds behind the magic we saw on TV and on the big screen when we were kids. I was only just turning 10 yrs old when this show went off the air but I remember it and plenty of other shows that used practical effects that made the childhood me believe everything I was seeing was real. A big thank you to all those who worked in those effects departments that probably didn't get the credit they deserved at the time for their outstanding work.
When you started KITT, i was waiting for the turbine sound hahahahah
K.I.T.T has mellowed a lot in his old age. Back in the day, the minute that black cat showed up he would have started himself up and driven himself outta there 😀
Hi, 42 years old from Germany, found out about your channel only half a year ago and enjoying your content ever since. I loved Knight Rider as a kid... and though adult life for many years surely took the focus off it, seeing your passion for KR is so awesome and refreshes my childhood memories big time! Thank you for this and all that effort you put in your work and videos and to keep this show alive in our heads, great job!
Your cat surely puts the KITT in kitty cat.
Also thanks for taking us for a ride. This is as close as I'll ever get to one of the KITT cars. Cheers.
I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to ride in your K.I.T.T. car at the Northeast Ohio Dukes Show. That is something I'll remember for the rest of my life and I thank you for giving me that memory.
You bet! We love being able to provide that experience to the fans!
Your cat as Meowchael Knight, driving KITT, ending with Universal stock footage of a 1971 Lincoln Continental going off a cliff.
Awww, your cat's so CUTE! Should've got your cat to sit on the roof of KITT like in the episode "Halloween Knight".
It's a KITT Kat
@@CR7659 lol
Thank you so much. This is probably as close as I'll ever get to riding in K.I.T.T.
I got chills when you turned the ignition.
Thanks for taking me along for the ride in KITT.
Hello, I'm a South Korean Knight Rider fan.
It's an honor to meet the original kitt like this. I look forward to many more videos in the future.
Totally awesome. Absolutely loved watching it. I watched Knight Rider and been a fan since I was in Kindergarden. I’m 45 now and still watch my dvd collection. Knight Rider will live on forever.
This was awesome, thanks for the virtual ride in KITT!
I was waiting for Julian, Bubbles and Conky to make a cameo driving KITT around the trailer park. Epic.
👍
I’m a kid all over again watching this. Absolute awesome what you have done to preserve so much of a great TV series
Love the engine noise still sounds great after all these years always enjoyed when you could hear the actual engine in the series blind spot burnout comes to mind.
Cruising with Kitt. Thanks for taking us along. Like the camera view looking at the front wheel. It kinda mimics scenes from the show itself.
Enjoyed the vlog!!👍👌🙂
This is the greatest ever channel that Knight Rider fans could ever wish for. I wish there was someone out there that could do the same for The A Team?
And airwolf
And hardcastel and McCormick
and the dukes of hazzard and fall guy
@@AL-ud2is John Schneider does quite a nice job as a Dukes historian. Subscribe to him and you won't be disappointed
@@brendansmith6058 Unfortunately the original Bell helicopter used in Airwolf no longer exists. It crashed in 1992.
Love this man! Thanks for posting this. The car only has. 1000k miles and the engine is idling smoothly.
Always loved knight rider from when it first aired..
How about at some point having a video maybe what KITT was used the most on the show and what KITT was used the least.
Thank you so much for all you do..
For it was seeing it run after all those years and of course going for a ride along is just as special.
The one still scene that you showed with the "Empire" theater in the foreground was the same lot/theater that "Back To The Future" was filmed on. When Marty comes back and crashes into the theater--that's it. Also when Marty goes into the future and he's on Main St hitching a ride on the back of a Jeep.
I was thinking the same.
I knew that theater looked familiar! Nice find
As a kid growing up I was a huge knight rider fan! And I really think it’s amazing work what you guys are doing with keeping the history of the series alive! Keep up the great work!!!
That was great, thanks for the ride. Not only is the muffler crooked, but it has a loose cat 🐈 ;) Great souvenir you found. Good stuff man, real good stuff. Thanks so much.
I’m so glad this channel exists! Unmatched content that you will see nowhere else 😎. Rock and Roll, Knight Rider Historians🥳🎥💫
5:10 means that you have the same car that was also featured in season 4 intro (dodging the laser explosions moment.)
16:06 the sound of that engine when it starts up brings back memories of my 87' Firebird. Also great work Joe capturing the different camera angles while driving, the only thing that was missing was a Don Peake score to go with the drive but still this video was awesome.
So awesome thank you 😊. Childhood number one(and still) series. Cant get enough of these episodes keep em coming cheers👍 and hello from Finland 🇫🇮.
Wow Joe seeing your kitt reminds me of when kitt is nice and shiny sitting inside the flag semi wow you have a piece of film and automotive history 👍👍
Thanks for the ride. I was able to ride K.I.T.T. in an exhibition of American film and television cars that was held in Madrid (Spain) in November 1993. In fact I have a photo with him. All the cars I have ever owned have been black by Knight Rider.
Excellent video. Great information. Thanks for keeping Knight Rider alive and in great hands.
"Look at this part of the car... NOT THE CAT..."
...Looks at cat.
KITTY!
OK back to the car.
Very nice vid. Glad to see one of the originals is still running and driving!
Every time the cat got near the tire I could just HEAR KITT go "That's not a scratching post you furball" haha. Again...I highly suggest an episode on the Supernatural Knight Rider skit, it was done well and has goodies you can hunt down like voice box and sensor.
Joe, maybe for us non-historical-car owners you could talk briefly about how to keep KITT(s) in good working order being that they don’t drive much. As many people know, the worst thing for a car is to sit. So are there annual maintenance things that are helpful? Well, anyway, I’m curious. You’re obviously doing a great job with it. The car sounds amazing!
ETHANOL TREATMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucas ethanol treatment would be highly recommended. They literally need to just drive it about 20 miles a week other than normal maintenance, It's a very simple setup as far as the drivetrain goes, so it's easy to work on.
So cool to see these props getting some love. Absolutely awesome!!!
I am absolutely amazed in all your videos. Two of my favourite programs growing up in Zimbabwe and then in South Africa, Knight Rider and Ateam.
So awesome to see this. Brings back so many memories
More, more, more...give us more on your cars, more on the KITT cars of the show, more on the dashes, front noses, Knight Rider trivia, top tens...I´m totally addicted
Oh we will!!
First of all I have to say that you are so lucky to own an actual living breathing KITT car from the Knight Rider series. As you pointed out in past videos, I never knew about the Pontiac train-Derailment that allowed the producers of the show to have access to a bunch more Trans-Ams, Firebirds, and other vehicles. The fact that you have a KITT car from the later seasons that wasn’t acquired from that train wreck and still exits today is absolutely amazing. Personally I think KITT looked his best in Seasons 3 and 4 and you have one of those vehicles. I also completely forgot about the digital data you and your crew obtained when you purchased that computer terminal. You guys definitely know what specific vehicles were used in the show’s production based off that information. I think that’s beyond cool. You guys really are the Knight Rider Historians. Your building one hell of a collection of screen used stuff from the show.
Great video. Being in the car for the ride along was amazing, was a great viewpoint and great in HD. Keep 'em coming! 😁
Thank you for saying the word Brisbane correctly I was only 6 years old and too young to understand what the whole commotion was about even the one that we have at Supanova which is a Comic con top convention I was the only one to actually get to sit on the car hood which in itself was a pure I hope when the trouble opens up again please bring this car I will love to see this car and take some decent pictures of the car because it's very popular
Awesome. Love the details. You answer all the nerd questions I'd ask and bother you with if I was walking down your road and saw you outside waxing this. Unbelievable to have a screen used car... awesome to find the prop rock.
Thanks for the ride along in KITT!! Enjoy your videos!! 👍🇺🇲
I sat in this car before you were born! EXPO 88. K.I.T.T asked me what my favorite animal was and I said 'Drop Bear'. And he said, "I might need to start scanning for one of those on my travels". I walked away laughing... but such a vivid memory I'll never forget. So cool!
I was alive in 1988, albeit not old enough to drive! Do you have any photos from that day? We would love to see them! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial On Polaroid somewhere in my cupboard I think... along with other stuff from EXPO like the passport and souvenirs. I'll get back to you mate.
Awesome video as always! I’d love to see “The Hoff” reunited with the screen used KITT’s you guys own! The level of dedication to the preservation of Knight Rider really is amazing! Also, being a cat dad to 2 spoiled cats, your cat is beautiful!
Thanks a lot for sharing the details on your screen used KITT, been waiting for this since the beginning. :)
That was great!
A tour of an original KITT is a real treat. My inner fanboy is so pleased that it's survived all these years (with less than 1000 miles on it too! 😁). - And the car still looks great.
Thanks for sharing!
I'm curious as to how the other one you have is doing.
That's so cool!!!!!! It's a shame they couldn't save all the KITTS, but I understand the contractual obligation. You guys are the best and thank you so much for keeping one of my most favorite shows alive and my childhood.
All I have to say is "AWESOME VIDEOS BRO"! Keep up the good work, & thank you for bringing us back down memory lane with these nostalgic content videos.
I think I love this driving in KITT episode the most. Love it. My only regret that there are not other channels out there that showcase other tv shows as well as this channel does. I'd love an A Team historians channel as well
Thanks Derek! We will do more of it!
Awesome! That KITT car is looking gorgeous. I bet you're looking forward to completing the dash and having it lighting up. I would love to see the semi fully restored and completed with trailer and KITT driving out the back, just like in the show. How about having the inside of the trailer detailed like the show? Love it as always. Good job guys.
Even the original brake pads? This car has such a tremendous history.
I remember that episode. It was very funny.
Only 1000 miles on those pads
Fantastic channel!! I notice your videos are getting bigger and better!!! :) Keep it trucking forward!! If it wasn't for you guys this awesome show wouldn't grow to love!! The history you guys are maintaining is insane!! :) Only ones in the world!!
Haha thank you!
Thank you joe for sharing your wonderful videos I remember the episode which KITT drives over the fake rocks he say “ hey Mickey ‘ love every moment of your wonderful videos please add more your wonderful family in your videos I loved seeing your children I am from South Africa
Really great to see that it was this kitt who survived and got to a good home. Thanks for the ride. 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Hey. That was awesome! Met you in Vegas with AJ. Great car indeed! Cool find in the control arm too. I ended hanging out with Buzz Bundy and Jamie quite a bit. Best event ever...keep em coming nice work!
I enjoyed that video and I have a friend here in Claremore that has a replica of Kitt and George Barris autographed my friends dash.
Wow.
Another great video thank you 👍
Must be a cool feeling to be able to go for a cruise in one of the screen used KITT.
I can’t wait for you to get the semi completed with trailer 😀👍🏻
The prop is a piece of foam. I believe it's called Oasis Foam. It is used to make props such as rocks and things like that.
Loved this! Thank you so much, love getting so close & personal with real KITTs.
Thank you
This one was in Universal Studio’s in ‘89? Still have pictures of me sitting in it. A dream come true. Cheers from Holland.
I love the time and effort you guys put into this project. Without you so much of this interesting information would be lost. Keep it up
Thanks For Letting me in the backseat Ride! Give the backseaters a night drive that be awesome 😎👍
Weather is great today and I got to ride in a Vitual Kitt. Wish I had a real Kitt car to show off the neighborhood. Love the channel
Love it! KITT looks as good as ever. You're KR knowledge is astounding.
So nice to see KATT...I mean KITTY...KITT.
Fascinating stuff indeed.
I love your cat haha! Cracks me up every time to see a random cool cat appear chilling haha love it!
When you removed the fake rock did Kitt start asking in a thick Brooklyn accent “Hey buddy, where to?” 🤣. Sorry couldn’t help myself. Great content though, there’s always fascinating KR snippets on your channel 👍🏻👍🏻
I'd love to see one of these cars in person some day. I kinda wonder if some day some hobbyist will actually put a turbine engine in a replica to make it more "authentic" KITT. It is certainly possible (if impractical) - see the Chrysler Turbine, 20 years before Knight Rider.
Just keep all your info coming I really enjoy listening to your nuggets of history.
That was amazing. You certainly have some beautiful country out where you are. It's long been a dream of mine to ride in a KITT car.
Your knowledge on knight rider is insane Joe great video 👍
The season 4 nose with the moulded indents looked fantastic
So cool that you can pinpoint the exact scenes this car was in! As for that episode with the drive-in, I assume this isn't the car that did the 180 and accidentally crashed into the building? I think that's one of the few times when you can see the car actually get damaged on screen.
That was in The Wrong Crowd, and it was a different car!
So beautiful. I sat in this car at Universal. I was so excited to meet KITT!
Hi Joe,that was just brilliant!!...it's great to find out everything about the cars...the work you and AJ have done is amazing...can't wait for the next video!!
I'd love to see more behind the scenes footage...the video that Jack gave you was fab, hopefully there's more of that..
So for benefit of new arrival to your channel..this is the car that sat on the universal tour with the insert dash from the soundstage in it,and the pee seats!!..keep up the fantastic work!!...
Awesome episode . what a great piece of history. Wish you would display KITT at lemays car museum in Tacoma. Love this car...
Did any of the cars Have functioning A/C? It always seemed that David Hasselhoff always had a leather Jacket on even in the summer and never broke a sweat! Maybe TV magic?
They had functioning AC, but the KITT dash blocked the vents.
40 years later this is still a gorgeous car.
Thanks for the little trip! funny thing was i was expecting kitt to sound like the Jet engine when you fired it over. Got a right old surprise to hear the V8 burbling! Be interesting to hear what sound effect they used for kitts engine.
Joe, another video where you knocked it out of the park! Really look forward to seeing all the videos you post.. real learning experience 😎👌
Fantastic video! That is the quietest 3rd Gen I’ve ever heard while you drove! Maybe for a future video, how about a under carriage look from the under side of the car? Possibly to see any studio marks, damage? That would definitely be cool to see. Thank you
That foam "rock" brings back memories of a time when TV and movie effects were mostly all practical and the effects department had to come up with economical solutions for the director to most closely match what the scriptwriter had in mind. This was really a great video! Thank you so much for sharing the feeling of riding on a real KITT and see it in details. Please, make one on the other car!!!!
I would like to see that dash working with the mileage working and reading actual temps and so forth.
Me too
I would like too see it work
Me too. I want to see EVERYTHING, every led, every button do something useful and a KITT style GPS navigation app running on the CRT screen.
Her name was Sally Flynn played by Renee Props.
This one is my personal Knight Rider favourite episode, reminds me of my childhood.
I also remember my mum use to record on VHS cassettes, a few knight Rider episodes for me. And this episode was one of them.
i think that black cat really love kitt
Love this video because you mention this car was at World Expo 88 in Brisbane. I went there and sat in this car! Wow that's cool!
Awesome! Any chance you have photos? We would love to see them! knightriderhistorians@gmail.com. Thanks!
Glad to see one of the cars used on screen is still in existence. Thought they were all destroyed either in stunts or because they were one of the train derailment cars. Glad I was wrong. I think it's great what you do. Preserving an important part of American culture. Kudos.
There are 5 or 6 original cars that still exist. Joe and Aj own 2 of them
I sat in that car and had a ‘conversation’ with KITT when it was in Brisbane, Australia for the World Expo in ‘88. 😃
Do you have any photos? We would love to see them! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial Unfortunately I don’t. Wish I did though 😢
The only thing I hated about this segment, was that I wasn't riding in the passenger seat.
Looking forward to seeing your other KITT up close when y'all get it back. Also am looking forward to seeing the insert dash completed and put in this car. But yes, I did enjoy this video.😁✌👍
Thank you for bring us such great history on this show. I grew up loving KR and KITT. As for video suggestions, how about some in-progress videos of the dashboard and other internal components. Maybe an under the hood exploration of KITT as well?
1:44 I can't remember what it's called but it's the stuff that KITT could crash through and wouldn't get hurt as bad (I THINK)
Awesome video Joe. Thank you for sharing 👍👍
Thanks for bringing back my childhood memories from when I was growing up all the way in Sri Lanka. I remember kids in our primary school being fans of this car immitating the scanner by moving their hand back and forth while running around the school corridoors. Later on I learnt to build actual scanners out of home made circuits and LEDs. I believe this car was the one that made me extremely curious about science and technilogy and paved the way for me to become an electrical engineer/programmer today.
This was freaking awesome Joe! Thanks for this great video! It was so interesting learning about all of the episodes that your car is in! That paint is in pretty good shape too!
Joe this is like Watching Knight rider all over again years later. Bring that Kitt to Ontario Canada and I will buff it too a new Kitt shine
Awesomeness 💯 thanks for the ride man 🤙🏻
simply awesome, as a fan of third gen Firebirds and KITT I always love driving segements
