- Another short session spent at Marden on the quietest section of the South Eastern Mainline where we see services purely from Southeastern.
I appreciate that these series of films from this section of the line aren't the greatest I've ever done or even going to do, but please bare with me. Once I get past Tonbridge the films will get much longer and much more entertaining.
Marden was opened in 1842 by the South Eastern Railway, like every other station along this line it was built to serve goods traffic to the local area, specifically fruit from the orchards around Marden.
When the goods shed was built it was done so that the freight traffic couldn't pass right through it, so it was a sidings as such. The yard was extended in 1908 to add an additional siding for the growing freight traffic coming into the area. But this was eventually closed and torn up when goods traffic dried up. The station was revamped in 1961 when the line was getting ready for electrification.
My next station will be Paddock Wood.

Nice video as always. I like the shorter ones you’ve been doing recently
I'm glad you've been enjoying them
you should try stations like forest hill and anerly as theres trains from southern thameslink and London overground
I'll be sure to give those a go at some stage
Southeastern really don't like washing their sets. Maybe they're saving on water. 😂😂😂
Their water bill must be nonexistent!
Wow this station looks really narrow
Surprised they kept it this narrow in all honesty!
You should go to Chislehurst and Dundee
Maybe one day I'll go to Dundee
Is that kent
