Austin was probably the only good pick for a show in that state. It's been a while, but I really liked it there.

This is the kind of game where "The public knows about war crimes you permitted during your term" has no implications, but the card "You ate a sandwich in a weird way and the photos are everywhere" makes the voters lose all respect for you

That is an exact reflection of when one of our Australian prime ministers ate an onion raw, and we all think he's a funny bloke, not because he stuffed up many times, but he ate a freaking onion raw.
These game sketches are such a novel way of dealing with big heated sticky issues, with minimal bias and maximal comedic impact!

Exactly. Being in the UK, all the lines said in this sketch hit sooo hard, especially as we're being the pawns of their "game" at this moment... 😲

Fun fact: The term "lobbying" actually does come from hotel lobbies, as this was where politicians were paid off by companies back in the day.
The way I heard it is that it's the parliament lobby, where citizens can talk to their representatives directly.
The only problem is that not every concerned citizen is paid a small fortune to do so.

"Lobbies" are both groups which offer the government kickbacks to consider legislation and also a word for the main foyer of a building. There is not actually such a thing as a lobby lobby. In common parlance, the phrase "opening doors" would mean that a lobbyist could make introductions, change their constituent's minds, and generally make things easier for the politicians. However, if the lobbyists we are talking about are "lobby" lobbyists, they might just be opening physical door, really not the same thing. It starts as a fun play on words and ends with a clever play on words.

I LOVE your satirical sketches. I say that every time but those might be my favourite sketches 😂 On another note, last year a french comedian made an actual political boardgame called "State of alert" (roughly translated) and it sold extremely well. So, you know, there's a market for this 😂

@@foilarmsandhog You just have to make sure that the kinds of actions that lead to staying in power longer lead to people in general being better off.
Assuming that people are voting in their own self interest (as opposed to voting against the other people’s interests), then the system can theoretically work.
Because it will only stop when the people stop complying and start living the life they want to live
Look up a video by professor Antony Davies about public choice theory. It's a branch of economics that is dedicated to answering that question. He explains it clearly and simply to the point I was able to show it to a 10 year old kid and he understood it

@@danielhopkins2277 The Greens are the only parliamentary party in Germany with any quota for woman, and overall it's still much more likely to get elected into parliament or office when being a man. And that's surely not because women are less qualified than men - exceeding the usual qualification standard isn't a tough bar to clear, and can't explain the disparity. Also "direct" vote in districts is still heavily biased towards men in the parties' nominations for districts with favorable winning chances.
Btw. the Greens high quota of at least 50 % (*) women on their election lists was created with the intention to have a counterweight to the other parties (at the time very) low percentage of woman (* men may only be on even list positions, women can run on odd and even numbers).
If you're worried that the statistics actually ever swings to the opposite: German parties are also allowed to have a similar quota for men.
@@justmy-profilename there should never be a quota for ANYTHING based on characteristic like sex or race, that's backwards as hell. If there isn't an institional barrier to women running or getting elected, leave it be.

For a second I thought this was a pointed commentary on Prime Minister Boris Johnson, than I remembered that Foil, Arms and Hog are Irish and realised this was a pointed commentary on all of politics, everywhere.

This should totally be an actual board game. It would be a great way to demonstrate to the public how politics actually works. Or it would go the way of monopoly and start off as a criticism of an exploitative system, but morph into a celebration of that system. It'll be the second one, won't it?

only if you are very young. governments do this every five to ten years. Mali, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan,, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia. And these are all within the last ten years. This list would take up the entire comment section if it got extended to thirty years.
This one feels like it will be among the Top Ten Sketches for 2022! Spot-on satire (broadly relatable, too) with fun props, great facial expressions, and that delightful touch of silliness... it gets my vote for sure! 😁
