So many memories resurfacing of cruising with mates in my absolute nugget and having the time of my life. Love your work guys!
Did my lessons and test in a Gemini. Ground up Rebuilt an Opel Manta B here in Australia in 2013, they are very similar, strut towers torque tube etc, this build is already giving me flashbacks. Looking forward to the rest of this!
Why oh why are these two crazy Aussies the most wholesome thing to do with cars on the inter-balls??? Humble and simple... and just so good... when they start a big build... i get so excited... 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Aside from the amazing work that went into the car, the production and the direction of this video, I have to give you extra credit for the soundtrack. You've always produced fantastic music on your videos but this time you outdid yourselves! Hats down to you, truly!
The EGR valve, the ignition coil - those things may go away, but if you haven't learned anything from Bad Obsession Motorsports ... KEEP THE BRACKETS! When you realize you need a place to mount something, you might find that EGR bracket is great for some controller box, and the coil bracket will hold your fuel filter. There's even already a place you might be able to put the bracket, without drilling new holes and adding nutserts.
Well done guys! I can understand the hard work going into this build, my TE Gemini doesn’t have much rust but what it does have is currently being cut out and replaced, it’s a huge time and cost but I’m happy I have a very clean tidy car that I can still drive around while having some rust removed. Can’t wait to see this when finished and hopefully see this Gemini at the Gemboree 2024 in Mount Gambier in November
Yup! Red paint and blue paint together makes brown, so this looks to be metallic brown or maroon, depending on the ratios. No telling on the shade though.
One of my neighbours had this car in yellow when i was a kid, i used to pass that house just to look at the car in his yard. Years passed and the car dissapeared. When i got my licence i tried to find the same car but i was out of luck..... happy to see someone i love watching gives us a trip down memory lane. Thank you :)
My very first car was a Gemini. Bought brand new in 1982. A TF limited edition “Starsign”. 2 tone blue and silver. Loved it at the time. Super poor quality engine. Did the rings at 25k. My old man is a mechanic. We rebuilt the engine. He and his mate who was an engine builder told me everything was rubbish. Sold it not too long after that. Great memories , tho, as my first car.
What memories....my first car was a yellow Gemini and used it for doing deliveries on my P plates. I fixed a leaky heater core, rust in front guards, stereo upgrades. Then did mods of lowered springs, stainless exhaust, rebuilt the motor and made it a 1.8l from a 1.6l. Was still slow but fun.
I own a 1966 Mustang 289 Coupe. You can fix EVERYTHING in that car, and the 289 with cherry bombs is one of the best sounds on earth. Love those old cars for the stories and history and everything they’ve seen, modern cars can’t compare
My first car was a gemini. A 1975 tx gemini. They are a fun car to learn on. Easy to work on and done right, i got a my g161 bored out a shit load and added twin webbers. People dont realise how light they are. My claim to fame was chopping 253 v8's with it. That was a long time ago. I am almost 50 now and still the car i think about when i reminisce
Thanks for having me as your special guest, you really made sure i enjoyed it like a holiday , feeding me and showing me around the Sydney workshops ..much appreciated. Dazz
Love it Boys, I Still have my Gem, A rolling shell painted with interior done. been sitting for 24 years under a car cover in a garage. Giving me inspiration to finish it now...
I had a mad 1978 Holden Gemini Panel Van as my second car when I was at Uni. Red, mags, extractors, hot dogs. It looked like a fat shark! Gonna love this build.
Been waiting on this for yonks. Origin story resonates, my first car was a TE with 400,000kms and a locked diff that I got for $900, then had a granny spec single owner TG on some whitewalls with venetians. Always wanted a TC/D wagon or van and it's the only car I day dream about doing a nut and bolt resto on even after having some iconic euro/jdm cars post the gem era.
11:28 Tip for next time you're fighting these bitumen sheets: dry ice. Just throw some dry ice in, let everything cool down and then tap it with a rubber mallet. It'll all shatter and come off clean and easy. No need busting your knuckles and scraping it all off in little chunks at room temp. ;)
My first car and one of my ex-wife's cars were both Gemini's! Mine was a yellow 1984 Holden TG Gemini SL, 4 spd manual. Hers was the Pontiac version, sold in Canada as the Pontiac Acadian, complete with full red interior!
OMG, I suspected it but now I'm sure, the Gemini was sold in Brazil under the name Chevette, by Chevrolet! My dad had a white one, I didn't know it had been so iconic in Australia! Can't remember if anyone really cared about it back when I lived in NZ, but this is just awesome!
My first car was a TE Gemini, lowered, wheels and exhaust. Every Friday and Saturday night we used to do laps of peel street with the 15” sub in the boot. Good ol days.
Im jealous! I too had many Gemini's back in the day.. and i also did pizza delivery in them! I still have a key chain somewhere with most of the keys from all of them! My first car was an HR wagon, hand-me-down from dad, but the first car i bought was a TX Gemini sedan that the rear quarter panels looked like they had been stung by bee's.. Obviously it had had a rear ender at some point and was badly repaired. Only cos me $500 and i loved it. I always wanted a TC Panel van with wide wheels on the back and a rotary in the front.. But sadly these days the prices of both are skyrocketing and out of my reach. But i still imagine what it could look like every day! Im really looking forward to seeing how this build turns out!
I love watching other people do bodywork and paint because it's just so impressive when it's done well, and I know that I lack the talent and artistic touch to do it myself.
Gemini's are cool. I owned one many years ago. As much as I like them my favourite RWD 4 cylinder car is the Mk2 Escort closely followed by the Cortina's.
My second car was a TD gemini coupe with a TG front end. Drove it all the way from tugun QLD to TAS in the mid 2000's it was a little beast. Was Midnight purple with V4 Simmons.
I got my Ps in a Gemini. Half my year 12 had them for a first car. Other popular first cars were 70s RWD Corollas, Mk2 Escorts, and early commodores. Brings back memories as I worked on lots of mates Gems in the early 90s. Even did a non engineered V6 conversion into a TD that was dodgy as, and twisted the body when you nailed it. It lasted 6 months before we got pulled over and red carded….. By ‘95 they all seemed to just vanish.

This is the one build I've been waiting for the most. My first car was a TD gemini, which I delivered pizzas in too! Thankyou for allowing my younger self to live vicariously through this build. So many memories resurfacing of cruising with mates in my absolute nugget and having the time of my life. Love your work guys!
Man you guys need to get yourselves a laser cleaning machine.
Makes jobs like stripping shells to bare steel so much easier.
Did my lessons and test in a Gemini.
Ground up Rebuilt an Opel Manta B here in Australia in 2013, they are very similar, strut towers torque tube etc, this build is already giving me flashbacks.
Looking forward to the rest of this!
WHERES THE GEMINI.... (for past 2 years...)
OH FUCK YEAH! THERE IT IS!
I haven’t been following your recent uploads for the last year or so but I’m happy to be back for this one!
Hats down to you, truly!
yesss, the ultimate Domino's delivery Gemini
Can’t wait to see this when finished and hopefully see this Gemini at the Gemboree 2024 in Mount Gambier in November
that was a slick fade with the color mixing. my guess its gonna be a kinda dark silver with a little maroon tint
Love those old cars for the stories and history and everything they’ve seen, modern cars can’t compare
my nana had a gemini wagon when i was little ever since ive wanted one.. cool to see you 2 doing this one.
Dazz
I drove one in Detroit in 1974. It was an European Opal Kadett GTE. Cool car!
Love it Boys, I Still have my Gem, A rolling shell painted with interior done. been sitting for 24 years under a car cover in a garage. Giving me inspiration to finish it now...
I know it will look great due to all your past performances. Great video can’t wait to see it all finished.
If you were a teenager in the 90s/2000s you either owned a Gemini or knew someone that did. Love em.
I had a mad 1978 Holden Gemini Panel Van as my second car when I was at Uni. Red, mags, extractors, hot dogs. It looked like a fat shark! Gonna love this build.
The gemini... definitely brings back memories!
Boys I’m so pumped for this build project !!! Restoring a car like this takes love ❤️ and patience but the end result will be so worth it !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
I'm so glad you guys decided to split this into separate episodes and go into detail
No need busting your knuckles and scraping it all off in little chunks at room temp. ;)
This brings back memories.
I had a royal blue Vauxhall Chevette back in the day and loved it.
After a long time watching. The immortalized cars are it for me.
Stoked for the both of you.
Been waiting to see the gemini build! sooo excited to see it come along and what you will do with it! such a neat little car.
I am so glad i bought my 75' Opel Kadett C and started restoring it from the ground up. ❤️
My first car was a TE Gemini, lowered, wheels and exhaust.
Every Friday and Saturday night we used to do laps of peel street with the 15” sub in the boot. Good ol days.
This is the build I've been waiting for. I have driven plenty of Geminis in my life, awesome little cars.
Thought I'd missed out on the posters as I'm only just seeing the video. So stoked as you guys say from a fan in England.
So glad this is finally happening. You must be beside yourself.
Sick bro super excited for you. Days of work set in 20 minutes video doesn't do it justice that's hard Yakka mate good work.
My first car was a 1989 VW Polo (breadvan). I loved that thing!!!
Would love to build one today!
Watching a full build after years. Loving it! Not bad after Moog's music being on my commute drive playlist everyday for the past week! 😄
If there is old car AND Japan involved, then you know it's going to be another one of those epic MCM journeys.
