      @@Talasbuan I just recently knitted the Bobble Sheep Pillow (pattern is free on purlsoho site) and was getting my knitted sheep tail shape from your sheep. .... Lol! Every time I watch your vids I see all that wool walking around, ready to be pulled and veggie dyed for great things....lol! If you learn how to do the knit stitch and the purl stitch in knitting you will be able to do any knitting pattern your heart desires. With youtube and Ravelry anything is possible. My hubby made me a nalbinding needle out of a thorn off of the thorn trees that grow wild here. You inspire me to use it to learn the art. Love the coloring of your little intro squirrel....we don't have such vibrant red squirrels in East Texas. Lov your vids and your wood carvings...excellent.

    I'm an American born Swede my grandpa came here from Sweden as a child 🇸🇪 I've only just found your page by chance and I'm so glad i did! My hubby and I are getting caught up on all of your videos right now and we love it! This is actually the dream life we have been talking about for many years and we are learning a lot from your page and we have fun learning new things. My husband and I are both pretty well educated and experienced in many things so it's nice to see the many amazing things you both do. It seems like there's nothing you two can't do so far and is very impressive. It's such a breath of fresh air to see a young couple actually living and experiencing real life instead of listening to the fake and ignorant medias and news outlets spreading unnecessary fears and biases. I love that you both are so teachable and open to learning about things and how humble and grateful you both are. There's so much love and compassion and clearly so intelligent and i love that even more. It shows in your well behaved animals and your ability to be honest rather than try to boast about yourselves. Your animals are clearly well loved and cared for and when you are slaughtering for food it's done respectively and honorably. You both remind me of my husband and I so i feel very connected to you. I would love to see you make a dala horse to put abovev your farstu and i would purchase many of them from you if you start to make some! My grandpa used to but he's very old now and his rhumatoid arthritis is too bad now to make them but i have many i would love to buy genuine ones for as well as our own home too. Also my only critique i guess you could say is that i would love to either recommend or chat with you about the fascinating truth of plastics and the amazing microorganisms that eat them and break them down and what most plastics really are made of and the misconceptions about them. I guess that's not really a critique more like a comment about that lol. But it's a fascinating subject to me and so i think you might think so too if you know the right places to look where it's not biased and ridden with the money making lies usually being spitted out these days lol. Anyway wonderful vlog so far looking forward to seeing the rest and up to date! Thank you so much for not adding political opinions in your vlog too it's so nice to see and hear normal people just living life! I hope someday America can be normal like that too where everyone can just live their lives and become decent people. God bless! 🙏

    Steve with the ladies was so funny. They didn't look impressed :-)
    In English the felting (joining) of two ends of wool is called spit-splicing! Nettle fibre is very, very soft and silky, quite strong, but almost as soft as silk. I made some once and am really pleased to see that it is having a revival.
    Lastly, I wanted to say that I have been following your vlog almost since you started. Lately I have been unwell with some depression and re-watching all your vlogs has been part of my evening ritual to take care of myself. I grew up on a small holding (homestead) but now live in a huge city. Watching your vlogs reminds me that I need to grow things and make things and be with animals to be a healthy human. So thank you for your work, for me it has been almost life-saving x

If you make a tutorial I would love to watch. In English when you felt the yarn together to make it stick it's called "fulling". Fulling is basically felting but with a spun or woven or knitted fabric to make the fibers bind together. The yellow + green is lovely!

    Felting the yarn together is much easier if you spread out both end of yarn like a fan over lap them , fold it over each other then spit it up and roll. work with the characteristics of wool. Have you considered processing your own yarn? Yes, there are needlebinding videos but I am sticking with knitting and spinning. With cracked bowls, if it happens at the rim you can artfully make the crack into yarn ball bowl. Your whittling could make some gorgeous spindles both top and bottom whorl. I understand poverty,3yrs of fatigue and weakness not being able to work, doesn't look treatable . When I can't do what I used to do I do what I can with the cheapest things I already have. Good luck.

    • @Talasbuan
      @Talasbuan  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, I split them some before wetting and rolling, this yarn is incredible easy to felt so it doesn't need much persuasion :D Mathias has started to comb our own wool and have dried some wood to make a spindle, so i guess we will try it as soon as the spindle are done :) I also want to make more felting with our wool, making blankets and such. Fatigue are a real big problem, I wish you health and calm, have a lovely weekend! /Tova

    I would love to see a tutorial on the Viking needle craft. I sew, knit and crochet but am always happy to learn a new handicraft, particularly when it is so ancient.
    We have friends who live on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland, and they weave beautiful rugs from the fleeces of their own and other people’s sheep. They have a croft (smallholding/homestead). The fleeces arrive in bags just as they come from the sheep and Chris spins the raw wool then washes it with organic soap before weaving it on old looms that Andrew renovates. Chris also tells great stories about their animals. I think you two would appreciate much about the life they lead.

    Wow you make your own hats!! That's so awesome! I would love to see that technique. And whenever you make something with your own wool I'd love to see the process from your wool into a hat (for example).
    I love your videos guys, you are really inspiring. It's my dream to have, one day, a farm with cows and chickens... Thank you so much for sharing your videos and experience!! Videoing and editing seems really hard but you guys are doing a really good job. Lots of love!!

    We always enjoy your videos. We lived in Maine USA and mostly miss the snow. Our homestead is in Northern Arizona USA, 60 miles from the Grand Canyon. Our home is one mile in elevation, so we often get a little snow in the winter. We hope your winter is uneventful and enjoyable for you.

    18 min - felting is when wool adheres to itself. Historically saddle blankets became "felt" as the woven , wool blanket experienced friction from the saddle moving between and horses back and heat from the animal.

    This was a beautiful video! Lots of terrific scenery! I grew up in Louisiana, so I'm a romantic about the snow. I rent on a homestead location and have horses and a garden, but I'd like to have poultry and dairy sheep too.... on my own land one day. I really like your mangers (shelter) and feeders for the sheep. Good job making them pretty too, and fitting with cabin scenery. In the US, most people set up the cheapest and ugliest livestock shelters, etc...

    I don't knit or crotchet but would still love to see the needlebinding. It's so calming to watch somebody knitting or doing some type of needle work with their hands. Learning about something new that I've never seen before is always interesting. That buck is super cute! He seems gentle & sweet. And your old dog, I just want to HUG - such a sweet face and face color pattern. Warm regards & best wishes to you both!

    It is so calming and alarming at the same time. I have the great respect for you and your partner. Your voice tone and trend make you clips so easy to watch and almost sad when the clip is done. It so different from the environment I live in. Money dictates everything even love. Just so hear and see how you handle these situations are example to all of us. I live in Africa our money is not worth very much but I know for one or two dollars I will be able to chip in and will do so. Thanks for the most relaxing videos on the Internet
